I like that exterior paint on the truck and the options. I would definitely get the bed lined though. Nice truck JB.

Very nice looking truck. However, it is overprice (as are all vehicles nowadays). The 2.7 turbo engine is powerful, but still has problems that have not been fully corrected. This is the case with the 8 speed transmission as well.

Nice review JB - the optional packages look really good! Good sized payload considering smaller truck. Would be interesting to compare GMC Canyon Denali with the Chevy Colorado Z71. If I am not mistaken the Colorado Z71 payload is better than Canyon AT4 & AT4x…

Thanks for the detailed review of the Z71. I just bought one that had the same options plus bed liner and 20 inch wheels, MSRP was $48,475 and I paid $5,475 below MSRP for it. I shopped pricing on Car Guru and found most 2023 Colorado's were priced at or above MSRP. I reside in southern Utah and bought the truck from a dealer in Austin, Texas. After tax, title, Lic and shipping to my home I still paid less than prices quoted to me in LAS . I considered ordering one until they said it may be 6 to 8 MONTHS before I got it, NO thanks. So far I love the truck overall. This 4 cyl. engine will surprise you, I'm impressed. Watch a couple video's on You Tube regarding the engine that have the Chevy Engineer that designed the engine, extremely interesting! Again thanks

I lived in League City, Tx. years ago while flying for a company based in Houston. Love Texas, greatest state in our country in my opinion! The dealer in Austin Texas, located on I-35 N. is Henna Chevrolet. Ask for Rodger or Neal and tell um I recommended you speak to either of those guys. I just turned 1,000 miles on this new Z-71 and love everything about it,zero complaints so far. Good luck and best wishes.@@Bnguyen276

That's a lot of money to spend to have the trucks sitting at the dealers with dead battery and bricked screens issues. Hope they have plenty of loaners.

I just bought that exact truck with a little less options was 43K.... I love the paint and in the daylight it really has that bronzy look with a lot of metal flake and then in the shade it has more of that OD green appearance and then right before dark it's basically chocolate brown.... I love it! And for the record I think it is way overpriced. This truck should be around 33k

Maybe 15 years ago. 43k is a pretty fair price when you account for inflation and what you're getting. This is the top trim normal colorado, it can come with cooled seats. Not the base WT which you can get for 33k for a cheap 2wd one. Accounting for inflation this trucks msrp is inline with others

@@scurjaldan5349 What? I’m just being objective on how the US currency is changing. 33k today is objectively worth less than 10 years ago. That’s a fact, not an opinion. I never gave my opinion on inflation, just the FACT that it exists and affects everything’s prices. Cool that you know what the gold standard was, but that doesn’t change a thing today

The first color I've seen the truck in and didn't like. The Trail Boss looks better. Chevy did hit the styling out of the park. Hands down best looking midsize. There's great video on TFL about the 2.7 liter turbo motor from about 6 mo ago. The engineering and materials used in that engine are impressive.

I use it every day. I don't want one of the electronic glitches on this vehicle making my headlights useless. This vehicle has been plagued with electronic issues.

I've said it 100 times, but I don't understand why GM refuses to match ALL the badges. They do offer black Colorado badges, so it makes no sense for them to black out the bow tie but not the nameplate. The are the only brand that does this mismatched nonsense. That said, I was seriously considering purchasing a new Colorado or Canyon until I realized GM wasn't offering a 6ft bed. When the new Tacoma drops in a few months they will get all of those long bed customers. GM just gave them that market share for no good reason. I really like these new GM twins, but I'll probably get a Tacoma TRD Offroad long bed with the i-force max powertrain. To answer your thumbnail question, hell yes this (and all trucks) is too damn expensive. Trucks prices have gone way out of control. It's to the point where it's getting hard for me to even justify buying one just as a recreational vehicle.

To answer the question NO but the GMC is 5k more so that would be yes compared to it's competition. GMC canyon AT4X compared to a range raptor for the same price. I would go with the twin turbo 6 raptor, just saying

I have a 2014 silverado and a 2023 Colorado Trail Boss,,,I prefer the midsize better and it will blow my 5.3 V8 away! To me the new Silverados are TOO big,, these are big midsize trucks, bigger than 1990s Silverados

I drove several of these this past summer when I was going to buy a midsized pickup. Ended up buying a lightly used 2021 Z71 2nd gen instead of one of these new 3rd gens. They have some shit they need to workout with these before I'm going to buy one. Nothing major but lots of little issues in my opinion that will get sorted out with time. I'm really happy with my 2nd gen 2021 Z71 though. What an awesome pickup. Another major gripe I have is the the infotainment system now serving as a settings menu for basic controls. Than's an unacceptable design choice from Chevy/GM. I've never been a major fan of giant iPad screens in a vehicle to begin with but at least in the past these screens were relegated to "infotainment" tasks and not driver controls for the vehicle. I personally believe these touch screens are a driving hazard. There is no replacement for tactile button control for a driver who needs to keep their eyes on the road. A touch screen means I have to take my eyes off the road. Terrible design choice and I'm surprised the NTSB allows touch screen only driving controls for some of this stuff. Hope they ban it in the future. If you really want one of these, then by all means, be my guest. But I would recommend everyone wait another year or two for Chevy to work out the kinks. Pretty common with a debut year on a new gen. Just wait or buy a newer 2nd gen for now.

They killed the Colorado with the engine options in 23....or lack of I should say. I have a 17 LT and my wife drives a 22 LT, both with diesels and heavily optioned. We get 31 mpg average and I can hitch up to my 5 k box trailer and still get 17 mpg. The 22 was 44k "out the door" ....but now all their vehicles are over priced because they are losing so much on the EV side.

More like the opposite of “killled” these are selling before they even hit the lot. If you want one you basically have to find them “in transit” to the dealer and put a deposit on it. They are selling way better than the previous generation ever did. The powertrain is another huge improvement with more horsepower and way more torque than anything in the previous gen.
