What a crazy year up at hunting camp! one of the best years yet, with non stop action!
9/15 Clayton was able to harvest his first bull elk with a bow at 30 yards. Self called, self filmed, and self recovered all solo.
Claytons words, " I was hiking a ridge above some steep downfall, where I called in two smaller bulls the previous day. I stopped at the top of the ridge to take a breather and glass. I looked into the timber below me and spotted a dead head. As I dropped down to grab it, I heard a bull bugle across from the timber I was dropping into. I closed the distance to the bull, where the the two draws met, and I did a cow estrus call. The bull bugled hard. I knocked an arrow, checked the wind, and waited patiently. I saw the bull running towards me, jumping over deadfall trees. He bugled one more time, turned broadside as he was looking for a cow call and I released an arrow that did a complete pass through his heart. He ran downhill 50 yards, I cow called, and I heard him crash and expire within minutes. I'm super thankful my friends helped me pack him out til 2:30 am. Such a crazy experience that I'll never forget. Super thankful I'm able to hunt on public land. Thank you mother nature for a lot of meat this year. Very happy I could harvest a bull elk and mule deer buck with my bow. Already can't wait til next year. I got the entire hunt on film too! Can't wait to share it."

We were super tired from packing out clayton's bull, but decided to go for a morning hunt. We did a loop we had previously done earlier in season. We cow called and bugled with no response. We pushed up to cut back to a logging road that led to the truck. We created the ridge and I spotted a legal bull rushing down towards our call cows. Caleb got setup, Shawna was behind filming, and clayton cow called the bull into 30 yards. Caleb made an outstanding crouched shot, and the bull ran within 100 yards and tipped over! It was a crazy hunt that we will never forget. We got it all on film as well!Thanks to all who helped. Super blessed! Western Slope Pursuit

Great video! I like the way you respect the animals after you take them, I do the same. Your a good group of hunters and is obvious you care for the animals, game laws, and the outdoors. Thanks again for your help, shoot straight!

Larry D Jones taught me back in 1980,,,,if you need to turn him coming in, do a directional Bugle to your left or right. It works, i shot my Bull at 12 steps broadside. I wish i was you guy's age again,,,,,at 63 i can still go, but them steep mountains are tuff these day's. Ya got a good spot there,,,,KEEP your mouth shut. Happy Hunting to ya Boy's,,,,,,and dang good Job,,,,i sure miss being that age

Am I the only one who heard you shoot at what appeared to be a running elk? You can hear your bow go off, and then the arrow hit something. Then you say all you did was draw back. Am I crazy?

Your missing out on some of the best hunting if you’re hunting herd bulls the best time to call them in is from 10 - 2

We try to hunt mornings and evenings. We take whatever opportunity we can get on public land elk. We are going to start hunting wallows during the day. Thanks for watching

When an owl puts his cows to bed the herd ball laser around, and this is the time that you can actually call him away from his hair bowl out make a sound different than bugles and bar and muse that only bowl out made it is that it is a very soft low Mont And in them hours tend to want you know you’re in the perimeter of where the herd has probably better the best chance to get him out of his bed is by making them sounds he will leave. This is Cal‘s bed and get between you and them, and he will come in.

Just wondering where all your arrows are why only 2 ? Also you need to be thanking god ! The creator of all living things big and small. Good clean kill.

Personally I only carry 2 with broadheads. I lost one to grouse. Used one for my deer and one for my elk. Lots of shooting pays off. Thank you mother nature and God. Thanks for watching
