I have a 2021 Monster plus and I think I prefer the simple red colour scheme on mine. The colour scheme on the SP is a bit too fussy for me. The steering damper is not standard on the basic models and I had to fit one to mine - very twitchy in crosswinds or overtaking large trucks without it. Will be fitting (well the dealer will) the full termi exhaust system that's on the sp soon. Sold my 2015 Monster 821 stripe to get the new one and it's a much more fun bike than the 821.

Dear Chopsy I've been a subscriber for a fair time now and have continued to watch and support you. I've always enjoyed your vids and how you present them. You've put in a lot of hard work and it's meant you've grown the channel and your reach; not just with the YT community but with the industry itself. And in that lies my problem. The Monster SP is a great bike, no doubt but, you seem to trip over yourself to not say anything negative or even seemingly negative. I've always felt that your criticisms have always been fair and handled primarily with kid gloves and that's appealing. Now however it feels as though as your reach and privileges have expanded, your being overly cautious to not just say anything negative but more to keep and curry favour with the manufacturers. It's tough and by no means can I tell you what to do, I'm certainly not privy to any of the conversations and dealings you have with said manufacturers but a word of caution from me, someone who has worked for both manufacturers and in media, that once you lose your integrity, it's damn near impossible to get it back. I'm not going anywhere and will continue to support you. Please though, always remember what made you who you are and got you to this point. Honest and fair with a dose of good mannered humour.

I watch motorcycle reviews on KZfaq purely for entertainment. They are all basically commercials for the bikes. Rarely is anything bad said, and that's by design. These influencers have a tricky gig, to still be informative while not biting the hand that feeds.

@xorbe2
@xorbe2 Жыл бұрын
About the same price (USA), Monster SP vs Street Triple Moto2 + fly screen. Monster has better TFT/ui, hydraulic clutch, steering damper, low end torque, launch control. 765 is a high strung sports bike with frantic peak power. Both have a nice intake roar, but they are vastly different bikes engine-wise. Seat gets warm on the Monster due to rear cylinder. 765 is smoother whereas the Duc is a bit of a shaker down low (both are interesting, this is personal preference, some would say the 765 is boringly smooth.)
@Mockle07
@Mockle07 Жыл бұрын

@Mockle07
@Mockle07 Жыл бұрын
@@xorbe2 Mine didn’t feel high stung at all, but then coming from 3 R6s perhaps little would. The ‘18 Monster felt like a very old bike that new riders would think was great because it was loud and felt thumpy and “characterful” but it was massacred by the Triumph in the corners. Character means very little to me without handling, which is why I’m wondering if the new Monster might actually be an option for me now.

Great review Chops. I really like this bike & the higher spec is gorgeous but it's just too expensive for what it is imo. Especially when you've got the Triumph 765 RS for about 2k less. Objectively I do prefer the Ducati but only just & 14k is a hell of a lot to blow on a middleweight, albeit a top spec one. Unfortunately the lower spec Monster is also a bit over priced too imo at 11k. Particularly when it has non-adjustable suspension & you have the Triumph 765R for 9.5k. With all that said it's a great bike I would love to own & Ducati are a premium brand so the price is to be expected regardless of what I think. I'm just poor & bitter lol!
@LambChopRides
@LambChopRides Жыл бұрын
Yeah I do agree, the Ducati you do get much more customisable electronics though. For example, turning off wheelie control but leaving traction on in a particular mode. Something you can only dream of on the Triumph! But yes your paying extra for the Ducati premium for sure 👍 plus the RS triumph doesn't have front ohlins, this is more like the moto2 at 13.5k.. so very closely priced
@ragerider6283

People say "if you buy a bike like this, you are not bothered by range", after the 848 and a 1098 and a 900ss, I am. This is of course the problem with big Vs.....but once you're hooked that's it. It is also quite plastic in places with pipes jutting out rather visually unresolved. I suppose it's why its 14k. Ride wise, it might just be perfect for UK Sunday scratching though. Realistically, the standard model is absolutely fine and offers better value. Ride one, go on, I dare you!!!!!!

@Marian Chicu Track guys love to bluster and tell other people what to do. My local track day organizer passes people in A group while giving two up rides on his MT10. You can be fast on anything, and if you're a beginner it really doesn't matter.

I guess if you're new to Monsters, it works but having ridden and seen Monsters evolve since launch way back when, for me it looks like any new naked bike. Cover the badge and it could be something from Japan or China.....😟. Im sure it rides well (everything does these days to be fair - a £7k Hornet is great apparently and you have £7k to spend on fuel, tyres etc..). Im sure if you love Ducatis and have plenty of cash, youll be very happy with it as its a great bike, lots of options new and used in this category which is great IMO😉👍👍

I love how Ducati have Chops saying "Monocoque" all posh.. or perhaps he's just saying it that way to mask the fact he Monocoque'd up remembering the word to begin with 🤣🤣 Ask Mavis how it's pronounced, Chops. We can rely on her to put you right/bring you down a peg lol

I feel I have heard other reviews say the front shocks dip under breaking, and that the gear changes can be clunky? Can you speak to that?
@LambChopRides
@LambChopRides Жыл бұрын
I can only speak of what I noticed and as you can see it was a spirited ride. I've ridden the Hypermotard extensively and yes the gearbox on the qs/ blipper can sometimes be clunky but no worse than some of the competition. I actually didn't notice any of that on this ride. I also thought the suspension setup was fantastic. Its possible it had been adjusted from the base settings by Ducati since the initial launch settings.. 🤷‍♂️

@@LambChopRides So basically said old 1100 is more raw and aggressive which means more fun😁? I have monster 1100 (2009) pre Evo so very curious to test that new Monster. But mine weights the same and still has trellis frame which is plus for me.

I test rode the standard bike & wasn’t impressed with anything about it, I describe it as a budget bike, looking at the sp in the flesh, it definitely looks a better finished bike but couldn’t sit & admire it in the garage. I’ve got my hyper sp up for sale at Craigs motorcycles 🤦 & I’m replacing it with the triumph moto 2. Let’s hope I’ve made the right decision as I haven’t ridden one 🤣👊✊️✊️

The dealer gave me a streetfighter V2 demo to play with while my Panigale V2 was being serviced and I was not very impressed. I prefer the lighter more nimble feel of my Monster plus and the street racer feel of my Panigale V2 so to me the streetfighter V2 is a bit of a pointless bike.

What really annoys me about Ducati and its Owners of the Trellis framed bikes is that all the marketing blurb of the past 50 yrs they have told us that their bikes were faster by design, better than those Japanese monocoque frames (pronounced monocock Chopsie). Which means all the Owners ride around with that total smugness that only BMW GS riders can match. Now Ducati says we need to make this bike faster - so what do they do - use a monocoque, leaving Trellis owners with ' I bought it for the looks, etc'
