Ben Arbuckle for OC. Currently OC/QB coach at Washington state. He's 27 & calls a high tempo air raid offense. Washington state is top 5 in total & scoring offense. 2nd in the nation on 3rd down conversion. Need a creative and young guy that brings energy and electricity to our offense 💯🐊

27 jet motions with 0 gives on the jet motion against Kentucky. What is most perplexing is that when Ricky goes into motion he brings an extra man into the box on run plays but on pass plays he doesn't even run a route! How does that make sense?

Yes he was! Seem like no one did their homework on this guy! I told a bunch of my fellow gators that I don’t like his offense and it’s not a scheme that will dominate a team on offense it’s enough to win a game barely. It’s how he had so many one score games and winning a lot by a field goal or just one. It’s nothing to get excited about. Bring that type of offense into the sec wasn’t going to be pretty. It’s like he relied on his defense to win the game so he can be ultra conservative and do the bare minimum. This is napier best. It’s all he got. He has great run plays but seems to not know when not to run and his passing schemes are basic and very predictable. Kentucky sat on all our routes

Honestly I’ve coached highschool for 3-4 years now. But Billy’s offensive play calling has me thinking I can call a better offense from the hitches to the jet motion that does nothing. I think there’s like 18-20 plays I counted that are straight counter productive to being successful

Napier seems to only have one route he wants if not check it down. It seems like most of his plays in passing situations he runs a lot of dummy routes. It’s something we used to do in middle school and high school. It’s like he tell mertz is your main route is not there check it down. That was something I seen last year and all this year so far

Our receivers need to get some work in space & offense needs to take more chances. Napier needs to consult this channel!

Napier just needs to stop calling plays period. He needs to ask Russ Calloway about how he averaged 350 passing yards a game and 500 total a game.

Mertz now looks gun-shy after taking so many hard hits from loaded boxes. Running backs have to be frustrated when looking at 8 men in the box against them. After Charlotte is became obvious the Gators need some creative changes in play calling.

Watching your breakdowns, I've come to the conclusion that Billy is not a totally bad play caller overall but has limitations, besides the design of the offense--good in the run game, and can occasionally scheme guys open but not consistently. Combine that with a suspect offensive line and a QB who is solid but also has limitations...and you get this.

If Napier had top 10 talent on offense, it won't excuse the false starts penalties due to formation shifts and motions. Special team blunders and the misuse of Etienne starting each game. Oh well, Florida is stuck with Billy.

@TheGatorNationFootballPodcast Question the last play you covered at 50:37 in your video. Is that play an RPO?? To me it looks like Ricky is waiting for a potential pass on a WR screen the other WR blocks, but Mertz decides to hand it off instead. Just curious if that play is actually an RPO? Maybe it was implied in your review and I just missed that.

I unfortunately like Mertz less now after watching this break down. Great breakdown as always but can’t miss all these opportunities and expect to win. It’s unfortunate but this offense has no margin for error to score points.

Ughh...where to begin... We need OC that makes plays and calls. There are too many hitche routes, don't use our best receiver correctly, we don't use our best rusher. I could go on and on. Does Billy really want to win games by not utilizing your best players?

His ego is fucking massive man, he wants to do everything like he did in Louisiana. We know damn well that this shit won’t slide in the SEC. He’s a good head coach he’s just not an offensive coordinator. Hire an OC or fire his ass.

I know this podcast guy is super knowledgeable, but is it embarrassing to any other Florida fans here that he seems more capable than our actual coaching staff in terms of play design? So much of what's wrong seems braindead from a scheme standpoint week after week. Every team can use the exact same blueprint to beat us. For whatever reason Tenn didn't, but I have to imagine everyone else on the schedule will.

The fact this guy doesn’t know common passing concepts that he’s talking about let’s me know why he isnt getting paid as an analyst. I know negativity gets more clicks but, just sayin. Look up Y Corner, a popular air raid play. That’s what we ran from trips at the 48 min mark. He had no idea, just drew a bunch of woulda coulda shoulda’s

At the 48 minute mark you are incorrect. The play side isn’t the trips side. It’s pretty much Y Corner from Trips going to the right side, the backside action is just that, backside. The concept side is to the right which is why the QB never looked back left.

Watching Florida’s offense then watching the Ole Miss LSU game was double depression on Saturday. But can anything actually be done during the season in regard to play calling? Would Napier actually seek and/or accept help regarding changing the playbook or do we have to suffer this offense all season?

No I was really just asking what can he do differently over the rest of the season to improve the offense. I don’t think it’s realistic that he gives up play calling but it does seem realistic that something needs to change. Also watching so many other offenses every weekend makes ours look very conservative and inept.

I will say this I will be surprised if he ever gets a 5 star receiver with offense like this. As long as he’s calling plays. WR won’t get the ball as much as they think they should. Look how many times Ricky got the ball in this game. And if he’s not he should be helping the others get touches because of the threat of Ricky getting the ball and drawing in double coverage

I’m not sure if you read the comments but if you read this. Does Mertz have the right to change or adjust the play presnap?? If not that’s The scheme which already sucks. If he does then he should do so and often. Scheme is elementary but Mertz is last person With ultimate control 🤔🤔🤔. QB is 75% between the ears. History:::Danny in spurrier era. Trask with mullet era.
