This golf irons comparison features three new distance golf irons in 2023 -- the PING G430, Callaway Paradym, and Srixon ZX5 MK II. Each of these irons is designed to deliver explosive distance through their own unique innovations and technologies. But how do they compare on Trackman?
In this video, 2nd Swing's Drew Mahowald and Cameron Fitzer conduct a Trackman Test featuring the PING G430 irons, Callaway Paradym irons, and the Srixon ZX5 MK II irons. ZX5 all the way because it performs, good looks and you can mix in the other models from the line.

Got fitted last Friday as my game has gotten better since I started taking lessons. I blindly swung the Mizuno Pro 225, Jpx 923 forged, Taylormade 770, Cobra Forged Tec, Ping i525 and the Srixon MKii zx5 and zx7. My best numbers by far were with the Srixon, buttery soft face with fantastic feeling, and it doesn’t hurt that they are gorgeous! They weren’t the longest iron, but they had the tightest dispersion, I was quite impressed with the consistency. I was fit into the ZX5’s for my 4-5-6 iron with a -1 weak bend, Zx7’s for my 7-8-9-PW and finally a MKii 2 utility 3 iron! I have a fast swing speed and had absolutely zero issues getting spin on the ball, significantly more spin then my previous Radspeeds. All my new clubs except for the utility iron were fitted with Project X 6.5 Rifle shafts, a great shaft no doubt! Don’t overlook the Srixon line up, they’re wonderful irons!

You must be hitting massive shots with the ZX5 long irons. I have just slightly above average swing speed and I hit a towering draw with my ZX5 7 iron today from the rough. One of the best 7 irons of my life.

Really like the Paradym which surprises me because I don’t usually like the one year and done irons that share the name of that years driver release. However, so far reviews have concluded they feel nice and go far but they always seem to spray the ball left, right and centre.

Switched from Mizuno hot metal to the zx5 mk2 and I absolutely love them. They feel like butter!

@@FRUNk808 I like the srixon more but can’t go wrong with either honestly. The HMP are stronger lofted so that’s something to keep in mind.

I have the PING G430 irons. While the lofts are stronger and go a few yards farther than my G425s, I'm blown away by how high the irons go. Most distance irons are simply "jacked up lofts" that go lower. As always, PING promised this with the G430s and they delivered.

The Paradym iron does higher here. The jacked loft argument is out of date.

@@paulmcgee1867 Offset is probably a factor, too. The Ping definitely has more offset, so it would tend to deliver a more descending strike. That could account for the lower launch angle.

switched to Ping this year. The G430 seem to have a very soft feel like a forged club. Im getting better numbers with higher lofts than my Rogue ST irons from last year. Very happy with the overall feel and results of the G430

Callaway Paradym is an insanely long distance but extremely forgiving which is unbelievable technology packed on this irons 🤯

ZX5 here as well. Love them! I'm thinking about blending ZX4 in the 5 and 6 irons.

Agreed I just bought a set of the ZX5's 2 weeks ago. I compared the ones here along with a couple of others and watched lots of videos and decided for my game the Srixon seemed best and felt the best

I think this is a somewhat odd mix of irons to compare. Not sure if potential G430 customer is cross shopping the other 2 irons. Wouldn’t the i525 make more sense vs. Paradym and ZX5 mkII? I swapping the latter with Paradym X and ZX4 MkII?

You're right in the sense that it's not all game-improvement irons or all players-distance irons. However, we sometimes like to throw in the PING game-improvement iron just because its lofts are weaker than other game-improvement irons and sometimes they fall closer to the players-distance category in that regard. We will soon begin producing our "Best of" series which will pit all the newest models from the same categories against each other -- and G430 will be in the GI category while the other two will be PD irons.

Was just at club champion tried all theses clubs plus a few more heads and the paradym was surprisingly a great club and in the right shaft the spin was as good as a CB .just shows get fitted.

I compared them all one day at the range along with taylormade, setteled on the srixon. All great choices but extra spin of srixon stops long irons on greens easily. Not quite as long as taylormade, but tighter groups.

All of the ping g irons are definantly game improvement irons. They are huge! Super thick sole and top line, as well as long blade length. They are also loud and feel really hard. The other 2 are much smaller, better looking, and softer sound and feel.

N/S tight dispersion = birdie putts and as other reviews the paradym did have a 10 yard hot spot shot which is in the desert off the back

Before Watching have to think the Callaway Paradym win on Distant. Only heard good things about those clubs.. Just bought new Irons last year so no plans to purchase this year but seems to be some pretty good improvements.

I’ve recently got fit for g430 5-45. Currently game 52 56 vokey. Wanting to sort the top end of my bag between driver and said 5iron. Any recommendations? 3w 5w provide sufficient gapping loft wise?

1:50 and 8:00 Ping G430 7-iron loft is 29* not 28.5*. I like the looks of the Srixon best, but on performance I like the Paradym. Ping G430 is more user friendly with the longer head and a good choice if you tend to hit more off-center shots. For those who prefer even more distance there is also Paradym X with a 7-iron loft of 27.5*, and Ping offers both "power loft" and "retro lofts" - 27.5* and 31* respectively for 7-iron.

I agree although the Paradym seems to have hot spots on the face resulting in extra yards + - more often. It did the same for me when I tested them a few weeks back

what if you hit it low? but want distance/forgiveness. Do I go 430 HIGH LOW or standard lofts ok or power loft?

@@giomusah2155 I am not a fitter but here are my thoughts. I think that your swing speed may determine what to get. If you have a slow swing speed, then Ping 430 HL. But if you have reasonably good swing speed (about 78-80 mph 7-iron or better) then the standard or retro loft. Best to check this out at a store that has a simulator to determine this - most golf stores do now. One more idea, if your shots are consistently low and sometimes topping the ball, then your problem may be that you are not hitting down on the ball and therefore hit a lot of thin shots. A fitter can see this too. A downward swing of about 2 or 3 degrees with a 7-iron would be optimal.

Not a fan of the Paradym at all. Pretty sure I’ll be bagging ZX5s soon though the Mizuno HM are still in play for me.

I don’t like the spin numbers on any of the clubs. Not even 5000 with 7 iron’s? Of course a ball goes farther with less spin, but it won’t hold a green well.
