I got this bike this year and I don’t think I need much more after this. So happy about my cb500x it is stylish and comfortable and also performing. I don’t need more.

No music and no weird camera angles or self recording when riding. We see what you see, part of the bike and the road ahead. Fantastic. Great video.

No biker needs more than 47 hp in Europe. Even at that amount of power you can out accelerate 90% of cars on the road, and it will cruise EASILY well above the speed limit. Good review. The CB500 and 500x are cracking bikes. You really don't need more.

I have the 2022 in green. It's a great bike that just fits. I find I'll take it for everything; commuting, quick shopping, short trips, long trips. Stable, responsive and a lot of fun to ride.

Downsized from an Africa Twin to an NC750X to a CB500X (2022 model) - one of the best bikes i have owned. Simply great and huge amount of fun to ride. Suspension is great and more than enough power and i tend to ride mine fairly hard. Concerned about the power until i rode one for 5 mins - goes really well

I started riding in 1968 on my new Honda Cub 50. I’ve had a Honda CB 350, Honda Goldwing, Yamaha Virago 750, BMW R650, BMW R800 RT, a Harley Sportster1200, a Harley Softail Custom and I currently ride a 2001 Harley Electraglide that I bought new. At age 70, I’m seriously thinking about a new CB500X. I like the looks. It fits my old frame nicely. I think it would take me to my 80th birthday. And maybe beyond. Nice review. Nice bike indeed. I like it. I had a 2018 model which I rode for about a year and felt it didn't have enough power for the interstates in the US. You need to be able to cruise at 85 or risk being run over! I now ride a 2022 Triumph Tiger 850 sport and this bike ticks all the boxes for me. By the way, I'm 71 years old and stand 5"7".

Yeah we purchased two 2020 cb500x couldn’t be happier done touring and commuting to work.we added bark buster,centre stand,power outlet and crash bars.living in Australia but we have booked the new model next month as coming over to Europe on holiday.good fuel range not to heavy and good seat height.

I bought one in green last year (22) FOR my 75th. & absolutely love it. Have, in the past, had ST1100 & ST1300 Pans which were wonderful but this 500x does everything with much less weight a 200 mile range & a superb price (£5,968) straight out of the box with zero miles. What's not to like eh!

Great review, I currently have a 1977 Moto Guzzi 850 T3 California and a 2008 EV 1100 California which is getting a bit heavy for me now. I'm 70 kg and 5 ft 10 and finding it a bit heavy now. Never been a fan of adventure bikes but am liking what I see. Looking to buy one next year and the reviews look good. Basic bike that does what it says on the tin. My 850 t3 is only 48bhp but that's old school, so looking forward it's just what I need.

I had a 500x I also called mine scarlet o Honda (0Hara lol ) , I now have a 750x because one day on a duel carriageway I had a nasty experience with a formula one racing van and didn’t have the power to get myself out of trouble. Watching your videos has made me nostalgic for my little 500 x .

Fancy TFT screens are great until you have to replace one at your own expense. You could say that an LCD is old tech or you could say that it is mature tech which is very reliable and cheap.

The lack of technology is what I LIKE about it. I find it funny when people talk about 500 cc's like it's not capable. Do we forget Honda once made a 500 cc fully dressed touring machine? Research the Honda GL-500 Silverwing Interstate.

I’ve got one & it’s ok on the autobahn, be one thing for sure if you ride or drive on the autobahn you are never going to be THE fastest but you can keep up with traffic and enjoy great range. I regularly ride 370ks in comfort & no need to stop for fuel.

Good review, no surprises. I think only the headlight design and color is the difference between my 2022 and your 2023 model. Like you mentioned, I like the range and its light, at 79, I know I can pick it up when I drop it. This year I'll be riding up the continental divide from New Mexico to Montana with some off road on mountain forest, logging and BLM roads. I've added 25 kg of crash/engine/radiator, hand guards, skid plate, center stand, tool box, luggage and pannier racks. I'm a little over 6' ft. at 100 kg and with 35 - 40 kg of luggage and camping gear on her, the preload on rear shock is set at 4 to level the bike.

Would love one of these as an update on my CB500F. Put all the extras onto the new one. Givi 56 litre top box,GPS,Centre stand. Good enough for some gravel road exploration off the motorway. Very lucky man to get that for a birthday pressie.

The CB500X didn't come about as a serious Adventure bike but due to its wide acceptance it has evolved in that direction. And still it is well priced in the market place. However, as the owner of a 2016 versionI I have to say that I have found the headlight to be rubbish and a victim of peculiar modern styling. The answer to the issue for me was to have a pair of small auxiliary LED spotlamps fitted with the result that now the lighting is superb. These additional lamps are separately switched so can be used only when needed. The front of the machine with a somewhat triangular headlamp and a useless "peak" looks rather cartoonish to me. Overall, the CB500X is a fine practical machine from Honda.

Yes, I have had one in my sights for a while. Great all rounder. If I could have only one bike that would be it. And if I could have 3 bikes that would be one of them. But as it is I have a wonderful F 800 ST with too many km on it to ever be able to sell and I have a disease that causes me to leap at DR 650s everytime I am ready to get a CB 500x .

Ideal bike for the UK, definitely agree on not being an early adopter, been there done that. Currently on a 650 vstrom will definitely be on my list when time to replace the Ol boy.

I haven’t got a clue what Casio calculator you used, the LCD display on the CB500X is great. It also has no need for traction control, riding modes or the rest. Your video started with all the negative comments spread by the uninformed. There was nothing wrong with the forks on the previous model, the changes are cosmetic.

Excellent review, a great bike at a great price. I got back into riding after a 50 year gap, with dare I say, a Honda ADV150! yes I know A Scooter, but after 18 months I'm now looking to maybe upgrade. I saw the NC 750 with the DCT gear box online but it's not sold where I live. Then I saw one of these in the local Honda showroom. It looks great. Sadly test rides are not a thing here, nor is px. So either I take the plunge or just carry on.

If you cant ride a bike without all the new electronic modes you seriously need to stay with 4 wheels... or possibly a 3 wheeler, trike maybe. .. I own one of these and they are great!

It's not a "Cheap" bike, its an inexpensive bike. No one ever talks about the up shift light you can program in.

The honda 500 line up ( cb x , f r , and the rebel ) are the best begginer bikes and if you hava a tourer the best second bikes. They are so smoooooth. I had cb500 f , and the rebel. I sold rebel 2022 together with forza 750 2021 to get the nt1100. I still miss my rebel. The perfect city ,fun bike. If you can find a rebel 500 and test it.

Great review, thanks very much, one of the best I have seen on CB500X, Mine just came in and put together, just waiting for accessories. Heated grips, electric outlet, center stand, Racks for my GVI 33/46 liter hard bags. skid plate, engine guards and lights, Will be using it for 90% paved roads and 10% dirt roads, as I have the DR650 for the gnarly dirt roads and light trails. What handle bar risers do you think. I am 5'9" with a 33 inseam and like to sit straight up. Most likely don't need skid plate but see one on a review and looked like stone chips on the engine. Trading in my KTM 390 Adventure Is a great bike and most likely will miss the pick up and go but want something better for the highway (long distance highway) and the 500 Km per tank is a dream come true for me.

I have a CB500f ..its Far from. Being My First Bike. They are Great Engines Been Going Strong Since 2013 I cant get Over How Smooth They are Once they are Run in And the M PG is Amazing Just the Job with The Cost of Fuel in the UK

The windscreen seems to be larger than most any bikes have. Maybe an extension on top would do the trick.

I've got a 2018 500x that I bought about 6 months ago just as a second bike for short days out to save putting miles on my CBF1000 but very quickly it became my "go to bike" because it is just so easy and so much fun. I'm taking a trip to Scotland in a few weeks and because we plan on travelling up on A and B roads I'm taking the 500x and leaving the 1000 at home but if we were doing Motorways I think I would probably have opted for the 1000 even though the 500x can do the Motorways it is definitely not its happiest place.

Hi Codger, I was torn between the Honda CB500X and a Tiger 850 Sport as Dr John has. In the end I went for the Tiger as having had an MT09SP in the past I am a big fan of triples. Bad news is I have to wait until the end of May, such is the current back order situation. As your lovely lady was kind enough to buy you the bike, does she want to adopt any more husbands as I can always add to my bike collection 😂😂😂

Thanks for this info. I had a Kawasaki KLE 500 in the past, a 2 cylinder 500 cc. Also a very nice motorcycle. I am now looking for a KTm 690, just saw your Ktm 690 review. Do you still have the 690? I want one as a second bike for the TET. My current bike, a 1090 is too heavy (225 kg) for the TET but for touring on twisty roads I like it very much.

I’ve never tried the CB500x I ride mainly two up so it wouldn’t be the ideal bike. As to off road there is a channel think it’s adventure x, he tours on the bike but has had it partially Rally Raided and takes it off road. There was another channel I watched not sure of the name but was an American company taking off road tours exclusively using CB500x’s that had been given the full Rally Raid upgrades, they said they find them perfect for their needs. Don’t ride off road but I suppose like everything there are limits and it’s never going to be a small motocrosser👍

I would check out Honda's new Transalp with the same 750cc engine they use in their new Hornet. Supposed to be a real peach. 90+hp.

Just got my license and im torn between this or a Ninja 650 , i know they are completely different bikes but i just don't know!! I would be more a cruiser around the south of England and northern France plus city riding , so maybe this is the better option?

When (if ever) are Honda going to put their indicator and horn buttons in the right place? Dogmatism seems to win out every time, as if to change them to the most helpful position would be an admission that until now they got it wrong. Indicators are used all the time, which means they should be close to the other lighting controls. In the UK at least, the horn is used sparingly in urgent situations. That's why you want the horn button all on its own: you don't have time to fumble around looking for it within the main cluster.

Probably ask whether or not it's worth the $2,000 jump up from a Himalayan.. If you are a seasoned rider, should you settle for this or pay the extra $6k for 5 years on an Tuareg?

Hi again, I have noticed something else about mine. Can you check if yours is the same please. I have a 2017 cb500f also, when I put the hazards on the turn the ignition off they keep flashing. But on the my 500X they turn off with the ignition. It seems silly to remove that function in my opinion. Cheers!

Hi, I picked mine up Saturday Loving it. I also had the 12v socket and centerstand fitted. I did immediately notice that when I take it off the centerstand it fails to flick back up. It needs a good help in hand before snaps back up oddly. I did mention this to the salesman and it's apparently normal.... I've never had one do this before. Can you confirm if yours works correctly? I've got one of these, it's great on fuel, cheap on tyres (as in they last a long time). Otherwise its without doubt the most boring bike I've owned in 35 years of riding. I suspect it'll get sold this summer.

Did I hear you say you already have an Africa twin? Why do you want this too?

I have a 2021 CB500X. It works perfectly fine the way it is. Most of the added features other bikes have, are totally unnecessary. Most don't use them anyway. One possible accessory could be nice. That would be cruise control, could be nice out on the Highway. Most certainly can do without. One nice touch could be the gear spacing a little farther apart. Making for a higher 6th gear to drop the RPM's at higher speeds. But it would detract from acceleration. Which brings the idea of: It would be nice to have a CB600X, or CB650X. 500cc for a highway bike. It's probably the smallest cc one would really want to deal with comfortably. Being 6' tall and weighing 230lbs. For traveling and loading up the bike. A 600cc or slightly larger could be nice. But for off road situations, one could be perfectly fine with a 300cc or maybe a 250cc. Which brings the CB500X a happy trade off. I am currently doing about 25% off hwy. And will increase a little next year. It most certainly gets me where I want to go, no problem. As far as the 2023 models goes. Most everyone and their ridding styles. Most all will never notice any differences what's-so-ever, with duel front brakes, or inverted shocks. It's only a selling point for idiots to go trade up and get you to spend your money. Upright shocks have been around forever and are still used today, on many bikes. My advice is to not waste your money. It's not that big of a difference. Unless you are looking to MX the CB, or race track it. We should all sense enough to know that is a silly idea right.

I've owned a 2020 model CB500X for the past 21/2years/20,000miles(single disc up front ordinary RWU forks) and I can honestly say the bike is a peach to ride and own,I regularly ride 200 to 250mile day rides and as a 70years old chap riddled with Osteoarthtitis never suffer any real fatigue after or during riding it. A couple of points,the rear brake will improve as the pads bed in,I upped the front sprocket from 15t to a 16t for m/way use and found it great not just for the M/way either but alround riding as it extends the gears,particularly 1st which is ver short on the original 15t,I'm 6ft/1.83m tall and found wind buffering over 50mph to be atrocious so invested in a Givi touring screen,problem solved,I also have a centre stand and SWmotech engine bars fitted. I live just off the East Lanc road not far from J23 M6 and I'm familiar with all the roads you're riding in the review so if you see a white CB500X coming the other way give me a wave or a nod😉.
