My time with the 2023 Honda Hornet has come to an end - so join me for a full walkaround of the bike - including the touring pack of panniers and tailbag - and let's go for a jolly nice ride to see whether I think this is the biking bargain of the moment. Find out whether the touring pack is worthwhile, and whether it's a good bike for experienced riders as well as those who are new(ish) to riding.
See my faster (but horrifically overexposed) first ride of the bike here: • Has Honda made a hooli...

Great to get so many people's perspectives. Watching certain people riding this, I actually get flashbacks to riding the Ducati Monster 937, which I had on order until Ducati misallocated my bike and my order fell through. Let's be real though, for 62% of the price of the Monster, I'll be getting 98% of the fun, with just a little bit of bonkers shaved off to help save my life. I think it sounds better than the stock Monster also. Oh, and I bought a sauna with the spare change. Thanks Ducati.

Test rode one for an hour and when I got back put a deposit down on a white one. Its a second bike for me to go with my Ninja 1000sx. I've owned a 390 duke for 6 years which is also an amazing value fun bike that I'm now selling to make way for the hornet .

I am going to get one. I don’t really need a 3rd bike but as you say, it is a fun little (if 750cc is little nowadays) bike. It should be great at commuting into central London.

Lack of a decent front mudguard and rear hugger aren't such small things. The bike will be permanently filthy in the UK. I don't think rear hugs are things you can get as aftermarket, either. Thanks for the vid. Super as always.

Well actually you can. Ermax has already put out their rear hugger for the Hornet alongside some other plastics like bellypan, rear cowl and flyscreen

Pyramid Plastics offer a £65 (delivered) hugger ~ I've just ordered one. It's the first modification I'll add to my Hornet when i pick it up on Saturday.

@brianmac3590 The pyramid hugger is basic but does the job well and is half the price of the alternatives. I’d recommend it.

Thanks :) You'll enjoy it I reckon! It's worth trying the KTM 790 Duke as well - they're the same price at the moment. You might still prefer the Honda mind you!

Nice little bike Tim, although I recall the days when a 750 wasn’t considered to be a small bike or even a middleweight. I had an original four cylinder 600 about twenty years ago used mainly for commuting and loved it. About the luggage though why do motorcycle manufacturers still think it’s acceptable to make luggage that’s not waterproof, that doesn’t make any sense at all.

I have to admit I wasn't a massive fan of the visuals when I sat on it at the bike show. I thought the existing CB650R and the new CL500 scrambler look much better (maybe we will get this engine in a scrambler at some point!?), but everything else seems amazing and the looks have grown on me, especially the grey colour option. Great video as always, love it!

I hate self-cancelling indicators on motorcycles. In town riding in particular, you are constantly looking down especially on long roundabouts to check that the bike is still indicating your intentions, or repeating the the instruction just in case it is not. More dangerous in my opinion than the risk of leaving them flashing by mistake, which experienced motorcyclists almost never do.

Cracking review ..... it is certainly a bike built to a (impressively low) price .. the Neo CB650R is a more premium looking bike in design and finish, for example, but also more money. Honda will steal sales away from Yamaha with this CB750 thats for sure ... it offers a lot more than the MT07 for less cash. While it may be a little bit budget in areas it certainly seems to still be much greater than the sum of it's parts and a fantastic and very tempting option in that market space. Decent bike at a very very reasonable price ... I wouldn't have been surprised had it been priced at £500 more than the MT .... but at £500 LESS it's an absolute bargain

Great review! I wasn't impressed when I saw it at my local dealer - it looks awful in the yellow. The headlight and exhaust can don't look great either. However - everyone really rates this bike and I think it looks far better in the white or black with the red frame. The bottom line is that it's a lot of bike for the money. I may be looking for a second bike in the near future. Maybe a test ride is in order.

Oh blimey I know it’s meant to be great but I just can’t get excited about it. I think the CB650 four looks so much better, why don’t they just throw a few electrical gizmos at that. Still think we are stuck with parallel twins as they are cheap to produce

two thumbs down for less leg room and more crunched legs. Why not keep it like the 500x ! NO point. leave it flexible or adjusttble like Kawasaki does; move the pegs down; and seat up !

It is, but it is also pity that is ugly as hell. The cheapest thing in production (Design) is used as a weapon past few decades to extract as much money from the people as possible.
