The IONIQ6 is built off the same e-GMP platform as the Ioniq 5 however as you can see, this is a sedan opposed to the hatch/crossover style of the Ioniq 5. Length wise I feel the 6 is a little longer when I park it in the garage however, the wheelbase is a couple inches shorter than the 5. The signature square dots can be found spread out over the entire vehicle. The streamlined shape of the 6 isn’t just for looks but its is purpose built for optimum aerodynamics. The I6 is actually the second most aero production vehicle in production right now next to the Mercedes EQS.
The I6 is only available with the larger extended range battery and can be configured as a RWD or AWD. Standard wheels are 18”, this is the top AWD trim with 20” wheels.
LED lights are standard across the board with the rear featuring a large light bar on the spoiler. Talking to the designer at the autoshow, he mentioned that if they could make the car longer and let it taper off more in the rear it could have been even more slippery but there has to be a limit. I feel like its a decent compromise. This ultimate trim comes with the hands free smart power lift gate and once open, you’ll find a very usable trunk. The rear seats do fold for more space. Like the I5, the front features only a small area for storage.
The IONIQ 6 can go up to 581 kms on a single charge in the RWD configuration and with its 800V architecture, it can charge from 10-80% in under 20 min on a compatible Level 3 DC fast charger.
Competitively priced, the IONIQ 6 will not just slice through the air with its streamlined profile but through the competition with its range, power, drivetrain, and interior features.
