Well, you clearly don’t watch too many corporate events. Apple, Google, Facebook, etc. etc. all bring engineers on to talk about their projects it’s pretty common. It’s also helpful for recruiting.

During the speech of Elon that guy beside him always interupts him, taking the punch line. Letting Elon not finalize on his sentences and breaks the actuall information flow. Each of them deserves an own presentation but together this is just not a fluent story telling.

De-risk your portfolios, shore up your core holdings, and take some profits while balancing your portfolio allocations. I’d also suggest you go with a managed portfolio, but even those don’t perform so well, so it’s best you reach out to a proper fiduciary to guide you, that’s what works for my spouse and I. We've made over 80% capital growth minus dividends.

Swings in share prices are noise. Look at year over year trends in sales and annual net profit, comparing them to a company offering products or services for the same market. . Never invest in a company whose products, services, market and management that you do not fully understand. If you have confidence in the long term viability of a company, and you did a careful analysis of its worth when you first bought its shares, here's one approach. Have your investment account set for minimum taxes - sell highest prices shares first. If the share price. swings lower than your average cost per share, buy a fixnt ed percentage of the shares you have. Wait 31 days and sell no more than an equal number of your shares. Either use the proceeds to buy shares in a different company in a different category with good expected returns, or wait 31 days and then buy more shares of the original company. This will give you capital losses that you can deduct from your taxes, lower your risk and for a given number of shares, minimize your investment and maximize your long term return per share.

Perhaps this team's most astounding achievement is to show what highly competent human beings can achieve when working together towards a unified goal. It's *truly staggering* and the rarest of birds. I did get tears at only one point in the presentation. That was at the slide that said "remember to do cool sh*t." My God do we need more of that.

I am not concerned about Model 2 not being unveiled. As they tried to convey the factory + the car is the unit. The Factory is clearly still in planning, so the car is too. The more thought they put in, the better the result. Rushing a design achieves nothing.

What Tesla announced is the first factory that will build in the” new leaner way, the next generation of vehicles that will have the other manufacturers dying from their ability to build their designs inexpensively enough to squeeze out any profit, and as the majority of those competitors fall flat on their face and bleed out and die, this will leave more of the market to Tesla, as well as the orphaned supply chain of raw and processed battery materials, and battery manufacturers who will have to meet Tesla’s cost, methodology and time requirements and flexibility or dissolve.

Companies have one task: to create productivity capital from innovation and either feed that back into their own innovation process or give it back to the market so the market can allocate it to other companies with higher innovation productivity eitrher directly through stockholding or indirectly through consumption. So companies which think they have more innovation potential than capital will recycle all profits into innovation and pay little or no dividend. Companies or industries with little innovation potential return it in form of dividends so shareholders can use their minds to make innovation investment decisions. I personally invest at least 5 years in high innovation companies with large growth and innovation potential. That is why Tesla is great, as it is the pure manifestation of innovation like no other company ever, not Ford, and not even Microsoft or Google or Amazon. The other 50% goes into stable productivity companies with stable dividends, which are mostly cycle proof. Wars don't change the macro economics. Every recession is just a bigger reallocation of capital. High innovation potential companies will always recover. Over 5 years any emotional corrections always even out again. After all where else can we invest? People always realize this after the panic has ebbed away.

Don't exaggerate. What actually drives the transition is petawatts of wind and solar generation; batteries extend that and cars are ~12% of energy use. Tesla is important in decarbonizing two large economic areas, but that still leaves everything else. They hinted about possibly making maybe making a domestic heat pump, which would be a third area. But there's still agriculture and industrial processes. I hope the solar and wind industries have their own Elon Musks.

@@dstolf I watched the whole presentation, and I don't recall hearing anything about Tesla solar. I hope the solar roof continues to grow, but they don't seem to have any plans to be a significant player in solar manufacturing, and fell into 4th in solar installation market share in the USA.

Excellent presentation indeed. No other auto maker can present the way Tesla Team did. Working cohesively and trusting each other reflects on how management respect everyone. The culture and well diverse work place is the essence in good governance. I'm glad I bought my 3 Tesla last year likewise a share holder since 2010. No one asked if MY from Austin used 4680 Battery. VRITKN300 is young. Holding almost anything mentioned here is a good hold because the VHS or Beta will only show in time. I want to hold them early. Its sad that most dont think of these things as good future holds instead of being out of the market and bottom hunting. Are we the adopters or are we scavengers? surely one of these layer ones will become the standard and i dont want to sell any of them too early.

I'm amazed how they optimized with all the information they gathered in the factories, software, fsd, charging, battery pack and solar. This company is evolving and pushing the standard to a whole new level. Bringing world class products to multiple markets. People sometimes don't realize how much Tesla is disrupting so many industries that are complacent and needed competition. If they really deliver and are striving for a greater future. This will be one of the greatest companies of the world in 10 years.

As someone who spends a lot of time learning about this company and following these events, I thought this presentation was solid and dropped a ton of cool and interesting updates. As someone who watches the markets and understands how most retail traders probably approached this event, I think the nature of the event and the goals of the presentation here could have been communicated much, much better.

Very technical, and mostly for the Tesla nerds. But if they call it Investor Day I do think focusing on PR would have been more appropriate

Australia doesn't have a very large population to justify a factory there. Most of the production would need to get shipped by boat to where it's needed and at that point you might as well use the production from China

I for one agree with this. There should be a Gigafactory in Australia eventually as well. You'd want to have at least one Gigafactory on each continent. (Maybe not on Antarctica). Yeah, Australia is an entire continent, with population of only a medium-ish size European country. Still, I believe having production there would be useful. It would serve all of Australia, New Zealand, Oceania, etc. It would make sense. Maybe Gigafactory #10 or something will be in Australia. Again, remember that Elon mentioned a few years back (in the documentary "Before the Flood" by Leo DiCaprio), that he estimates the global need for Gigafactories is around 100. So 100 factories to transition the world to sustainable. Of course that does not mean 100 by Tesla. Other manufacturers can, and really should, have their own to contribute to this. But this is one number I'm always keeping in mind whenever I hear of a new one by Tesla. Fremont, Nevada, Shanghai, Texas, Berlin, Mexico - yeah, that's great, thing are moving. But it's still only up to 6 out of 100 so far. So I'd expect in the next few years to see at least a couple more. Maybe one more in Europe. Maybe one more in China. And eventually at least a dozen. Perhaps two dozen. So one in Australia really ought to be in the mix there sometime in the future. That's what I'd expect.

They just showed the world that they have a world class team capable of scaling their production of electric vehicles, batteries, megapacks, and their neuralink ai while always improving the product and lowering their costs at the same time from efficiencies and innovation to the likes of which NO OTHER automaker can match. The way they run their business is extremely hardcore, always pushing past the normal limits. Its a company that should not be underestimated! Shorts will get crushed once Dojo and HW4.0 speeds up FSD to level 4 and level 5 autonomy within 2 years! Demand will be infinite, and as he said affordability will be the limiting factor.

Those people don't know who Drew and Zach or everyone else on stage besides Elon Musk are. Many react to the petulant CEO spouting off on various topics on Twitter. You can be a fantastic engineering leader, self-taught rocket engineer, and most successful startup leader in the world, and still be misguided about overpopulation, covid-19, politics, the environment, ... but that doesn't make Tesla's mission any less important. The funny thing is we have little idea what other automotive CEOs think about these topics, because they have PR handlers and keep their mouth shut.

One thing. How does the main unit communicate with the factory manufacturing sw if there are no antennas attached? That is the last step, when glass roof is added. Antenna sits above in the cross beam above windscreen in the current models. Will you put the antennas elsewhere?
