This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2023 Kia EV6 GT high-performance electric crossover. This performance EV comes with 576 horsepower and 545 lb-ft of torque. It has a 77.4 kWh battery and gets 332 km/206 miles of EV range, standard AWD. The EV6 GT offers 6.1” of ground clearance and has a sporty exterior design with high gloss black mirrors, body coloured flushed door handles, a gloss black trim, GT badging, LED headlights, a solar glass windshield and front doors, 21” GT alloy wheels, a tire repair kit and you’ll notice there’s no rear wiper. The sportiness of the exterior carries over into the cabin with GT design elements including sport front bucket seats, leatherette upholstery with suede inserts, metal painted interior door handles, a leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter and GT badging. The seats are manual, there are no power seats offered on this model or driver seat memory, however, there is a height adjustment and also driver seat power lumbar support. The Kia EV6 GT model comes standard with a heat pump, 12.3” dual panoramic displays with navigation and Kia Connect, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a head-up display,
wireless charger, meridian audio system, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, a sunroof and a power liftgate. The Kia EV6 GT has a 10.9 kW onboard charger. With a Level 2 charger, it will charge in just over 7 hours and with a DC Fast Charger 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. The EV6 GT comes standard with an 800-volt system for ultra-fast charging capability. The Kia Ev6 GT model is priced at $74,495 CAD/$61,400 USD. It does not qualify for the Canadian Federal EV rebate of $5,000 or a tax credit in the US.

One takeaway from track days I’ve done that will help you improve ..always do all your braking in a straight line and you don’t upset the car….trail braking comes later on…. Great video

The pricing is whacky, $4k up charge in the USA between top trim and gt trim, but a 13k up charge in Canada from top trim to GT 😅🥲

Very sharp looking. I’m also very impressed that KIA is achieving those acceleration numbers (0-60mph!). Those are some serious supercar numbers. I’ve never moved that fast and I’ve been in some fast machines. Those are crazy numbers. Even McLaren struggles to achieve that kind of acceleration. It almost makes this Korean rocket seem cheap… well not cheap… ‘affordable’. I’m glad you guys had a wonderful day at the track. It looked fun! Thanks for the video.

Well everyone takes this thing to the dragstrip or track to get 0-60 times and such but I found the power in my test drive not to be overwhelming but just surprisingly usable and manageable. I would likely even use GT mode in traffic when you have to change lanes quickly. I even tested it in GT mode to park it in the lot -no problem very smooth. Also surprising based on some reviews is that it felt very comfortable to ride in all the modes. A little heavy steering feel in GT mode but so much nicer than say a Tesla or certainly a Polestar 2 which felt like you were riding on steel wheels. The only issue besides such limited range are the seats which I found to have too much side bolstering for everyday use especially the back of the seat. That is easily solved by a narrow sheepskin cover that only fills in the center of the seat and for me would just make this easier for everyday driving. Also of note there is a setting that is supposed to lock and unlock the doors with proximity to the vehicle which I could only get to work one time. I have seen this issue with other vehicles as well so you just have to touch the door handles instead. Also could not get the voice commands to work at all in two different models and the sales woman said it works better when plugged in - disappointing. I would only buy this GT model as the fun factor is that much greater. Fun review thanks.

Great review, really like this Kia for sure. Your remark that around 80% of electric vehicle owners charge at home. I'm wondering that this might be an opportunity that home owners with a decent charger, may be able to offer travellers with electric vehicles a place to book a charge while on the road. It could be some kind of App. It does make some sense since it's going to take some time before the infrastructure for charge station to become a reality. What do you guys think. ❓

Great review again as always! Just adding little factoids here if it might help any potential buyers for Hyundai/Kia/Genesis brand family. A major reason why this Korean brand family undercuts it competitors is because Hyundai is also a steel manufacturing/processing giant. As they don't have to buy steel elsewhere, this helps them cut costs on manufacturing & pass it on to the end consumer. One other thing this brand family does great is integrating the Voice of Customer into the product development. An example of that can be seen in development of it's Genesis SUV line they brought over design+engineering subject matter experts from other brands. A keen look into GV80 & you'd find design similarities with Bentayga.

Why do car companies keep giving us wired Apple Carplay and Android auto and a wireless charger? If it’s because of the chip shortage, then I’d rather have wireless Apple Carplay/Android auto, cause otherwise I’m still gonna have my phone connected all the time, which charges it as well, rendering the wireless charger essentially useless. Plus, wired charging is usually much faster than wireless charging. 🤔

If they've half-assed their manufacturing of these electric engines like their ICE vehicles then consumers will continue to not trust this brand like Hyundai, Nissan, Chrysler/Dodge, etc. I'll stick with the good ole reliable brands (Toyota/Mazda) that will get me to my destination trouble free. Only time will tell. Good luck with your decision. I do like the supercar HP and speed though of this KIA, however I cannot trust them.

We did and we have talked about it endlessly in our reviews over the past year. The smaller screens in Kia/Hyundai models have wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto but the bigger screens with navigation come wired. The reason for this after speaking with Hyundai is the larger screen has onboard navigation and Kia/Hyundai want to have the navigation as a default system but Google and Apple want their navigation to be the default system and they are at an impasse. Other brands like Nissan only have wireless Apple Carplay and wired Android Auto, similar issues with Google.

@@andreaspencer9813 Really? I watch almost all of your videos and this is the first time I'm hearing this explanation. But if you say you've mentioned it before, I believe you. Thanks for the information.

@Treads Yes whether it’s Hyundai or Kia vehicles, we have mentioned it quite a bit. When we go on these launches of new vehicles and we are speaking to the product planner or PR team, they even say to us....yes we know, no wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto on the larger touchscreen. Lol! We are starting to sound like a broken record but they are listening and hopefully they will fix the issue. People want this feature.

@@andreaspencer9813 Well, I want it if it's going to be reliable. I've seen other reviews for other manufacturers where they report that the sound cuts out sometimes. Hopefully, when they add it, it will work.

207 miles? That's awful! If you attempt to travel a few hours from home, you'd better have the charging stations mapped out. Wired CarPlay and no ventilated seats. Great, you get less for your money than buying any of KIA's other cars. Manual seats...what a joke. This is this is replacing the Stinger.

206 miles of range won't do it, especially in winter.

It does if you have a charger in your garage. If you can afford this car you can afford a charger.

I just don't know how they get 206 miles of range. what mode would you be in for that? someone needs to take this on a trip and eco mode and see how far they get then put it in normal mode and see how far they get. I'm thinking this car gets penalized because of the GT mode which for a trip you wouldn't have to use.

ja that whole range-thing is nonsense and very american: 90% of all people world-wide driving less than 50 miles a day!

You are right, for most this range is just fine. But, people worry about range on road trips, you are going to have to stop anyway to charge on a road trip. You just have to plan it out or take another vehicle like a hybrid. Most people who own an EV have a second vehicle for those longer road trips.
