Actually what they need is a modern TT V8 like the competition, not a naturally aspirated V8, which you'd have to rev to get the power in heavy sedan. It's a nice engine, but it would only get smoked by the TT V8s in the competition.

Long time ago, I always admired the LS 2014-15 models but then I switched my course to get GS 350 Fsport since I felt the LS was like a boat perhaps. That was a mistake because I should’ve been patient to have waited as I really was looking for a GSF which I found with exceptional mods and 1 owner excellent condition. Couple weeks ago I paid it off and can never regret of having such a beast of a car over any LS or other V8 cars!

I LOVE this car. When ever i get it on loan i feel like its the best car ever. Its fast, smooth, quiet, capable. Trust me its FAST. You don't want a V8 and i know cause i have the LC. It is that good. I think they should have put this engine and trans in the LC and call it a LC400. You can chip it and be even faster. And its much less expensive than a S, 7, 8. Id totally take this over a german option all day long.

Hey Kirk, how was the transmission when coming to a stop? I did not like my 2021 because I could never make a smooth stop. As I was about to come to a complete stop, the transmission would downshift and launch the car forward. It was almost embarrassing to have passengers. I would love to have another one if that issue got addressed. Thanks for the great review. The LS is an amazing car and even though I am a V8 guy, I never missed it.

I’ve gotten a few LS500’s as loan cars. I really dislike them, but not for the engine. I dislike them for the interior space. I go in and drop off my LS460L and get into an LS500 with almost no head room, a cramped sort of narrow feeling drivers seat, short windows and obviously the back seat it terribly small as well. I’ve been given an ES at times as a loan car and I really like the ES more. It’s a much more relaxed open feeling interior. I dunno, it’s definitely not a car I would want.

Great to see this on LS Kirk! Thx for this update and review. I am not a fan of F Sport though, just as Kevin from Exhaust Auto, and especially AMD Car Care Nut Feel the same way and share that the mission of the flagship luxury saloon is to shut out the world and coddle…it’s not an M series BMW at all. Just stiffens the ride makes more interior noise yeah not want the LS set out to do when did so well in the 90s. This version is got to be getting near its lifespan end, yet no one still knows at all what Lexus plans to do with their flagship. 🤔

I have been thinking about how does one describe the LS500 driving experience to someone who has never driven this car? The runflat tires feel like you are driving down a gravel road when one is on a perfectly smooth city street. Lexus has changed the suspension on nearly every year since 2018-2023 to attempt to correct this. Test drive one at your local dealership today.

7:55 Yes on this. It would require very little on their part to elevate the cabin further with just what you speak of. There are far better materials than whats currently there. Pick anything else. Personally id love to see that carbon ply type carbon fiber that's on the LC's door pannels, It looks like ply board but w/ carbon instead of wood. Polish that down or make it matt, or carve a texture on top. I mean I'm just a consumer coming up w/ that. Yes they can do better.

@@faheemabbas3965 And there it is, the whole reason why Lexus/Toyota doesn't have a modern engine lineup and are slow as hell to move on to turbos. Example, the Lexus IS laughably outdated with naturally aspirated V6 and V8 and the GS was cancelled because it had the same weak V6 for years and the GS-F didn't have a prayer of competing with any V8 from the Germans. This car needs a TT V8 to be competitive with the big boys of the segment.

People say this doesn't sell because no one is buying full-size sedans. However, the real reason the LS does not sell anymore is because it does not offer much more than a fully loaded ES, yet it's twice the price. People can live without soft closing doors. If you are going to pay twice the price of something, you expect it to be twice as good. Lexus has not been able to find a way to make the LS truly special. The LS has minor extra luxury things that are just not worth the price. Your return on investment goes down the drain with the LS, and that's why people choose the ES. 90 percent of Lexus buyers are not performance oriented. If you want a performance sedan, you buy German. And the F sport could maybe work if it was only exterior and mechanical differences. I will never get an F Sport. The interior looks super cheap compared to the semi alanine leather, and the seat is uncomfortable. I don't mind them making sporty cars if they can do it without compromising comfort. Lexus buyers choose Lexus because they are comfortable and have excellent quality and reliability. Lexus doesn't really know its customers.

This is the best take. I ended up buying a TLX Type-S for my daily and I have an LC500 heavily modded so I’m a Lexus guy. But you’re absolutely right. No one wants to go back and forth to a dealership for issues with their vehicle and then to top it off with higher maintenance costs. On March 25th, In Germany, the government decided to accept the production of ICE vehicles after 2035. They changed the original ban on ICE by 2035. VW and BMW are concerned about increasing numbers of workers losing their jobs as car manufacturers shift due to EV production. They also conclude that decarbonization by 2035 would be difficult, according to IT Media Business Japan. Toyota should bring back the V8 DOHC 32-valve 4.0 Liter engine for the upcoming LS as an optional powertrain. BEVs are great, but no other powertrains are as smooth as the silky V8 engine🥰. Why not?

My family just returned the lease on our 2019 LS500 and tbh it did not meet my expectations. I think Lexus really missed the mark on product planning bc to me this felt like a supped up GS (this model year was prior to the first significant update). It did not ride as soft and imperceptible as i would have liked…plus no headroom in the back. IMO, they should have kept the LS as luxurious as possible and reinvent the GS as a proper sports “4 door coupe” like an A7 or 8 series.

I'm a major Toyota/Lexus fanboy. I even own a car dealer strictly sales and service Only Toyota/Lexus cars. Over the year Toyota disappointed me three wrong moves. 1) top of the line Lexus LS came with a V6 TT yet midrange model IS 500 got the V,8. LS sale figures arw down. 2) brought back the legendary Supra and they let BMW built the damn. Sales are also down and classic Supras shot up in value like crazy. 3) bring the Crown back to America without the Crown emblem. I hope that won't effects the sale figures. I hope Toyota/Lexus will learn.

The LS is undeniably compelling as a cosseting, pampering luxury car save for its unacceptably anonymous looks. At least in previous generations the exterior styling was stately, if not restrained. Stop trying to be sporty, LS! Lean into elegance and class

It should have the LC 500 v8, with an added turbo or two. The new LS is just "blah" to me. Sold my 2019 LC 500 last November. Loved the sound of the car and the driving experience... however, it should've had AWD and a moonroof. The stereo had ZERO bass, and the tech was too outdated.

I don't understand Lexus' packaging sometimes. You can't get massage seats on the F Sport. You can't get active stabilizer bars or 4-wheel steering on non-F-Sport. They need to breakdown the packages and make options more accessible.

(In my opinion at least) This is going to be the death of the reliable flagship luxury sedan. People are going for the ES over the LS, and there’s this one guy on YT who traded in his new LS for the new ES because of how similar they were in terms of features. It doesn’t matter if it’s so reliable sadly. This thing isn’t seeing an update imo. It really had to be well packaged and priced to do well. I’ve seen so much praise for the Genesis G90 through reviews and while it’s not going to be as reliable as people are going to say, it probably is the new LS feature-wise. But people are going to go for German sedans at this point. I’ve heard people say that they would never spend so much on a Korean car. In fact, I haven’t seen a single G90 in person yet. Uh oh, another dead sedan???? I see mostly the GV70, GV80 and G80 and G70. Having a peace of mind as a luxury “feature” (aka reliability), which imo is possibly the best luxury a car can have, isn’t so cool with luxury buyers anymore sadly. Thanks for reading my rant.

The ES is boring AF, outside and in. If they offer me one as a loaner I ask for an RX instead. I have the LS (F-Sport, always) and it's far and away the best car I have ever owned. Second was my GS (RIP...damn deer) Anyone who thinks they are anywhere similar to each other is looking at the exterior only since they made the grille on the ES so damn big and made it longer. The ES should have been sized between the IS and LS like a true 5-series and E-Class competitor. So if your prediction comes true it will be because Lexus wants to phase this car out like they did to the GS.

@@aross924 Honestly I forgot how good Lexus seats are. I sat in the new RX (an F-Sport model) recently and while the front seats were a bit tight since they are meant to hold you in place in turning, they were actually pretty soft. Even softer was the second row. I felt like I could just lounge back there. I don’t even think that the GLC’s seats were that plush and that’s one of the only Benzes you can buy in the US that’s actually built in Germany. The GLB is made in Mexico. I could be wrong about Lexus though, since I haven’t sat in other cars for a while.

@@bv202 the ES is indeed sized between the the IS and LS. It’s 10” longer than the IS, and 10” shorter than the LS. Agreed, the LS is on a different level than the ES. It weighs over 1,000 lbs more 🤯

@@bv202 imo only the new RX and NX are better than possibly all of the Lexus sedans interior-wise, but that’s only unless you pay for the higher trims as far as I’m aware. I sat in a higher trim new RX (F-Sport) and the center screen is bigger than it looks in videos and photos. There’s more detail in the interior in person than in online media as well. The materials are really nice too, it felt more… rigid and sturdy in my own words compared to a GLC. Feels really well built. It’s actually pretty nice, but this means you have to pay up to get what you want. The F-Sport I sat in costed almost 70k USD I think. The base model new RX felt like a glorified RAV4 with the small center screen when I sat in one recently. It’s only a bit better than a RAV4.
