Hi, once I've downloaded the new files on to my chromebook would it be ok to delete a lot of the countries from the map folder before copying in to my sat-nav? As this might speed up the installing or would it cause problems?

Don't save it to the desktop. Create a new folder in the root of drive C or D and save it there. Also, don't delete the files on the device, back them up to your HDD first in case something goes wrong.

i keep getting a file name is too long error while copying the files over any ideas on a solution

The "file name is too long" error typically occurs due to a limitation in the Windows file system, where the maximum path length is 260 characters. You can try the following method to solve this problem: Enable Long Path Support (Windows 10 and later) Windows 10 (from version 1607 onwards) supports long paths, but this feature needs to be enabled. 1. Using Group Policy Editor Open the Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc in the Run dialog (Win + R). Navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Filesystem. Double-click on Enable Win32 long paths and set it to Enabled. Click Apply and OK, then restart your computer. 2. Using Registry Editor Open the Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Run dialog (Win + R). Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem. Find the entry named LongPathsEnabled and set its value to 1. If LongPathsEnabled does not exist, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value with this name and set its value to 1. Restart your computer.

Wow try to update one today. What a absolute load of crap. I will be purchasing a different brand soon. Yous really need to plug and play updates not all this trouble 🤬

Its not difficult. People are so efin lazy, they just want to click a button and have it done automatically for them. Sometimes you've got to do things manually. I had no trouble copying the files.

what a load of rubbish sat nav to update should be able to just plug in pc/laptop and update options should be made easy, this is not easy.

Not easy? Its very easy! Its no different to copying files to a USB flash drive. Learn how to use windows explorer, grand dad. Its not difficult.
