Its tough to compare a 22 foot boat to so many great 23 foot boats. But the Craz, with its massive 4500 ballast system, autowake, and flow 3, it can hang with the big boys.

Great video! When you say ballast: 100/100/85 which one is mid/front ballast? Is it the 85 or 100%

Which Moomba has the most freeboard ? And which hull is best for rough water ? Surf is what we do primarily... big lake and 3 day weekends make for huge chop.. My last boat, 2015 Centurion FS44 would take ALOT of water over the bow due to listing in these conditions. Looking for a less expensive boat to get back into the lake life.!!

I would say the MAX has the most freeboard, even weighted. You can watch that video and see how high up it is, even weighted. Watch at max video.

I recently bought a 2024 Craz and I'm really glad i found your site and this vid. I've learned a lot from this and your many other videos. There's probably no reason for you to do another video on the 24 Craz since it's identical to 23. But if you do and offer up some other settings I'll be watching. I'm enjoying your settings in this vid. I had to use lead to get the 9.5 pitch with only a couple people in the boat. My question is how do the flow 3 yaw plates deploy? Do i take it on faith that they deploy automatically when i use default 60/70 plate positions. Is it all the same for manual mode and AW? Thanks.. keep the great content coming

Thank you, yes, in our testing, the default settings for the surf plates are the best, you can trust them. The only thing is whether you have the flow 3 or flow 2 system. If you have flow 3, and have lead, you should probably turn off the "dynamic" part of the flow 3 system, ask your dealer if you are not sure on that.

Thanks! I have Flow 3. The Displacement Integration thing in the menu is defaulted to off. That's the only thing that has something to do with the yaw plates. It's a mystery. Beyond that, I'll have check with my dealer. I've been using manual surf with the lead and letting out about 10% of water from the bow bag. I'm making your settings of 9.5 pitch and -1.5 roll for regular foot. Working fine so far. And I do use their factory settings for the plates. I assume the little Yay tabs are happily doing their thing. I appreciate your response

@@hwpno3 yes, you want displacement int. off, that will always fully deploy the yaw plates. So if those are on default, that should give you the best wave, and with displacement int. OFF. your welcome.

Great video I was just wondering I have a craz myself and I have been having some trouble dialing in the wave with autowake.. I put lead in to have my pich and roll perfectly I just have water constantly draining

its ok if the water drains a bit in one area to maintain your pitch and roll, its designed to do that. I usually use a. bit extra lead and let AW do its thing. I will sometimes turn off AW when I pick up a rider and have extra people in the boat that move around to get a drink or whatever, and turn it right back on when starting up. Its ok if someone moves to let the AW move water, and it may go on and off a lot, but its designed to do that, it has 2 robust pumps per bag, just for that reason. I do it constantly, many hours a season. 1-200 hours usually.

In your opinion is the 2023 Craz better than the 2023 Max when it comes to surfing?

No, the max being a bit longer I think is better wave, but max needs a bit of lead.

sweet video, thanks for sharing! I love the idea that the craz itself is rather light so you can move around quickly without the ballast but at the same time it can compete with the best boats in terms of overall weight. However, the shape of the wave doesn't look very good from what I'm seeing. Regardless the costs and the use case of each boat, how would you rank all moomba models against each other?

The Shape was very good, I do prefer the max a bit more, and then the Supra SL the most, but its very very good, especially for a 22 foot value boat.

You should see a slalom ski behind that boat at 34mph. Best crossover boat on the market in my opinion…

They both do, and I think the max, because it is boxy and a bit more sparse, feels more roomy. But the max and mojo both are more roomy than craz.

That’s tough, prob craz, but I would rather ride the max wave with a bit of added lead. I also would like the bit of extra room. U won’t be unhappy with either IMO.

They are all very close. And I would say the Mojo is a bit better than the Craz at 23'. But the gap is narrow, and if you need 22', the craz just wins. If you don't want any lead or little, Craz at 22, Max at 23'. Makai also makes a great wave, but it requires a lot of lead to do so, its all a trade off.

I have many times over the years. And many are great, but I can tell you that I wouldn't own a boat that doesn't at least display current pitch and roll status, that is invaluable to be a wake master. ;-)

What do you think about doing a Moomba review where you rank the pros and cons of the wakes, boats, price and so on? Been following a while and going to buy this spring, but it’s hard to determine if spending more is worth the money when you’ve shown some less expensive boats produce a good wave (kaiyen). For the $20k more is it worth it? We are beginners who are KZfaq surf experts 😂. Just a thought. Your content is awesome though.

I think the best wave for the $$ on moomba, would be the MAX. The Craz is great, but that extra foot makes a big difference. The kaiyen is great for a 21' boat, but again, 23' is the sweet spot. The Makai is great, but needs a LOT of weight due to its size. Make sense?

Thanks for the info. As stated already we went with a used Craz with hopes of dialing it in as you have. With any luck we will use the money saved to move into an SL or SE in the next couple years. 🤞
