This bike looks 10 times better in the white with gold accents, but you can't get that color on the S trim, only the base trim. That's a real disappointment because that white livery makes this thing one of the best looking bikes on the market. The other colors make this thing look like just another bike. The S trim is a relative bargain because you get the electronic Ohlins for just 2K extra, but no white option would compel me to buy the base trim instead.

I love it’s shaft drive. I cannot bother chain cleaning. The wind protection is a serious help . I feel this bike looks good - the boxy looks are better than the Bee like looks of a Ducati- just my thoughts.

While you were riding the "1st" V100S around busy streets and on the highway, I was dragging footpegs through Deal's Gap on mine. 😆 Sport mode and the quickshifter work great for the type of riding I do.

Sport mode on Aprilias and Moto Guzzis is a little touchy at slow speeds at 0-5% throttle. I typically use road mode instead because of this as I like more of a progressive throttle. Most bikes with ride modes I've found the same especially with Ducatis it was really snappy. The buttons on the V100 are from the Aprilia RS and Tuono bikes. I prefer them to the prior ones Moto Guzzi used like on their V85TT and other older models. All the Moto Guzzi's are fun and unique. The V100 is the fastest Moto Guzzi by far (and their only water cooled bike) so when you check out the other models, they are all air cooled and have less power. I currently own a V85TT and Tuono 660 for reference.

I totally agree with Chaser. After testride the engine is alot better then on paper. Reminds me of a VFR800 V4 engine. While riding it feels like a honda and not much vibrations. Engine doesn't rattle either. Very usable torque from 1k all up to 8k . Weight is down low and makes it easy to handle in slow speeds. Rider geometry is compact and fits people with smaller statue very well. Only odd this is cheap plastic switchgear from aprilia and rear break doesn't bite and requires alot of force.

OC, great bike Chase. I've been eyeing these ever since they were introduced to the European market. Glad to see them bringing it here. I think the target market is the middle aged non-Harley guy with a few more bucks in his pocket looking for a different kind of sport tourer. Unique looks, plenty of power and Guzzi.

Some of your comments need a lot of help. It's crazy to say a motorcycle that has a 115 horsepower isn't a lot of horsepower is truly ridiculous. In the eighties there were many cars that barely had a 100 horsepower and they weighed 6 times more than this motorcycle. My 1100 cc bike has 89hp. By the way quick shifters are designed to work under stress you need to learn something about motorcycles before you ride them and pretend to tell us you know something about them.
@m4ci3j72
@m4ci3j72 Ай бұрын
I couldn't agree more. You mentioned about two important things. First is that because of driving aids people don't feel so much respect for machine. Most of things that where considered as bad practices like pushing hard on cold/new tyre, bad surface, heavy constant braking are now mitigated by ABS and TCS. Don't get me wrong, the more driving aids the better because death ratio (heavy injuries also) on bikes is just overwhelming but something went wrong along the way when we think that 90hp bike is for beginner and 115hp is not much. From curiosity I tried quickshifter on demo Tracer 9 and I can say it is fun for spirited riding but many of us don't need it. Downshifter will probably work okay under lower loads but upshifter works well when you are pushing the bike, in other cases it will work but may be quite jerky. It's good that we have choice. I really like the base version of this bike. Moto Guzzi should also create pure version without winglets, mechanical (or none) instead of electronic screen adjustment. The price would be more competitive because now due power people are comparing v100 with Tracer 900 and due price with Hayabusa which is crazy 😂 I feel that giving new liquid cooled engine and lots of technology Moto Guzzi tried to stay with tradition but break with nostalgia and potentially interest new customer base in this bike. It's really risky move because you can't afford to lose old fans that love air cooled engines and you have to find new ones that will be attracted to new platform.

I had the FJR1300. I liked the engine, shaft drive, and styling. What I disliked was maintenance (amount of work to change coolant was hilarious) and weight in the city. V100 is also heavy but much more nimble (60kg less) and maintenance tasks are easy as can be as the engine is not covered. The styling is just perfect. Exposed engine heads were always sexy for me and the italian design is everywhere. Beauty and the beast in one 👍🥰

Good review from someone not biased for or against the bike offering an uninformed and spontaneous reaction. I'm very glad to hear those comments about the vibes that telegraph to the mirrors, bars and pegs, especially at stops. "Definite Harley vibes," as you said. For me that's a huge positive that Guzzi did not sanitize out the traditional VTwin Guzzi-ness of this mechanical device. No sewing machines for me. I hope Guzzi can build upon this and develop a bike more directly competitive with the BMW flagship boxers, the H-D Pan America, KTM's etc etc. Pricing on the Mandello is spot-on and comparable to other premium Euro bikes. If you want cheaper, the standard Mandello is about 2 grand less the the premium S model.

Correction, the V Twin is mounted longitudinally. Moto Guzzi says it's transverse because of the way the cylinders are pointing, but it's not based on that, but rather the crankshaft. Moto Guzzi, BMW boxer engines etc.. are all longitudinal.

I'm Italian, and from several reviews I followed it seems like the first service really does matter for the quickshifter touch. After that, apparently it's a lot smoother. In Italy a lot of new young riders are surprised how quick this bike is on the twisty roads, it's a legit quick bike. Moto Guzzi has always been associated to "older riders" and slow bikes for some good reasons. They cut the trend with this one, imho it's a lot less than a touring bike than it may seems. A solid jack of all trades for street use. Pricewise, it's hard to compare Moto Guzzi to Yamaha or Kawasaki as the sales volume and production capacity are just not comparable. Compared to a Ducati you may save a lot on maintenance costs to a Desert X or Multistrada.

So is a Guzzi in Italy like Harley Davidson in the US? Lol marketed towards older folk but are slowly trying to be sporty-ish now
@DrJSkellington
@DrJSkellington Жыл бұрын
@@Max-rs3mh well Guzzi always produced old-styled bikes. I think it was a choice for both marketing and size (keep in mind that Guzzi is a bread crumb compared to HD). I don't think many realize how much effort it takes from such a small company to do something like this. I mean to try this bike, but I have the impression that it's an all rounder for people that don't have the financial means to buy a dedicated weekend toy. But like to use the same bike for different purposes. I see it very fitting for the italian streets and lifestyle needs!

@DrJSkellington
@DrJSkellington Жыл бұрын
@@Max-rs3mh Well in that case you could try the normal V100 instead of the S, I heard that it still has really good suspensions and you save a couple of thousand $! I was also looking into this model because the alternatives such as Tracer 9 looks too dorky for me, and BMW R1250RS is just too expensive.

Cool bike. Used to have a Moto Guzzi Robin moped. Side note: I never understood why people test and expect quick shifters to work well at slow speeds. It's like complaining because you can't reach your trunk from the driver's seat. That's not what it's for.

I had a 2019 Kawi Versys 1000 LT SE with quickshifter and the quickshifter was working fine at high revs. In mid-low revs, it was a bit clunky. Seems quickshifters were meant for high rev sport riding. It is not a semi auto transmission.

OC. C'mon Chase, even Mrs. C2W should rebuke you for MANDELLO not Mondelllo- even the graphics got it wrong. That said, it is still a beautiful crafted piece of machinery and time will tell if it can stand out as a base model for the 21st Century-rumour has it that a soft off-roader version is being trialled. I'm being lined up for a trial ride and I can't wait; whilst it is packed full of new tech, there are styling nods to old Triumph Tridents or Yamaha TDMs. RSMF.
