When it comes to mowing grass, don't settle for a less than superior mower blade when you can get the best. Each time we add a new commercial lawn mower -- the G6 Gator Blade is one of my go-to/default/standard upgrades that immediately gets completed at the shop before the brand new commercial every gets dispatched on a mowing route to lay stripes on one of our lawn care client's lawns.
The difference between these Gator G6 (w/ fusion technology) mower blades make versus regular mulching blades is out of this world -- night and day -- incredible.
We have cut down 3-5 foot tall grass with these blades -- and if you know lawn care and landscaping, that usually requires a Bush Hog machine to do!
These blades are one of this lawn care veteran's best-kept secrets!
I highly recommend these mower blades to anyone who wants to save time and improve profitability with their business from getting more done while creating a cleaner cut with less double cutting in less time. Enjoy!

Bob, thank you for your feedback. I am sure you will love them but as I stated to another gentleman here in the comments, I recommend the following: "Although the black-coated edge will wear off in time running them straight out of the box, after 13 years of experience in running a landscape company, operating commercial mowers, etc. -- my opinion is that the blades run dull and DO NOT cut as well as they could straight out of the box and should most definitely have the black-coated edge ground off first and a minor edge put on the blade before initial installation." Hope that helps! And definitely let us know your results after you have had a chance to try them out in various conditions.

Ken, this is an *excellent question!* Thank you for asking. I have done both -- sharpened off the coated edge and ran them straight out of the box without the coated edge being sharpened or ground off and the difference is noticeable. Although the black-coated edge will wear off in time running them straight out of the box, after 13 years of experience in running a landscape company, operating commercial mowers, etc. -- my opinion is that the blades run dull and DO NOT cut as well as they could straight out of the box and should most definitely have the black-coated edge ground off first and a minor edge put on the blade before initial installation.

Do you need a mulching kit that blocks off the grass shoot on the deck for these to perform their best? Sorry if thats a stupid question. But I’m just a home owner who uses an Ariens IKON XD52 to mow my 1.5 acres.
@FiveStarLawnCare
@FiveStarLawnCare Жыл бұрын
To maximize mulching capabilities, yes, you would want to put a chute blocker of some sort on there so the blades can chop up what is being cut multiple times into a finer, mulched cut, instead of losing much of it out of the side discharge if left open.

I have a new JD zero turn Z930R with standard factory installed high lift blades. What blade would you recommend that will provide smaller clippings while still side discharging? Is there a blade in the market that will provide this, but still provide nice looking stripes? Thank you!
@FiveStarLawnCare

I would recommend the Gator G6 blades as mentioned in this video. The turn grass to near dust, side discharge. Stripes are sharp and clean. The number one key to getting nice stripes is a lush lawn. Here you go: amzn.to/3hlc77w

@FiveStarLawnCare

Stripes are clean and as good as any other blade in my opinion. The stripe is just the blade of grass being knocked down all one way and the sun reflecting off of it to give it that look. @FiveStarLawnCare
@FiveStarLawnCare 3 жыл бұрын
Great question! I have used many methods over the years and have learned that the most important aspects of sharpening blades (of any kind, knives included), especially mower blades -- the one think you got to get right is the angle of the tool shaving off the metal, regardless of what that tool may be. Currently, we use this Blade Sharpener ( amzn.to/3h12XgT ) and have it coupled with this Black & Decker Angle Grinder ( amzn.to/34gLw6H ) w/ these grinding wheels ( amzn.to/2KxyNG0 ). That is our blade sharpening set up and it works great for what we do. Hope that helps!

Do they leave clippings like a lot of mulch blades? I hate that
@FiveStarLawnCare
@FiveStarLawnCare Жыл бұрын
Great question! Well, the short answer is no, not with grass mowed at least every couple of weeks -- weekly is better and will stress the turfgrass less. The G6 blades pulverize the grass clippings! It's why we don't use any other blades BUT the G6 on all our mowers. However, if the lawn has been neglected and the grass is severely overgrown, rest assured it will require a double or triple cut to get it mulched up. Also best not to mow with moisture on the turf if you can help it as the moisture will just cause the grass to clump and stick to the mower deck a little easier. Works much better if the lawn is dry and morning dew has evaporated as the day warms up.

@FiveStarLawnCare
@FiveStarLawnCare 3 жыл бұрын
@@benrwilburn We don’t really mulch per se but the blades help to cut up the grass clippings finer. A double cut with these blades, even on tall grass and its clean as a whistle with no clumps left on the lawn. And yes, I would recommend them for just side discharging as that is all we do basically.

The only thing I have encountered that will chip these blades is hitting rocks such as a gravel driveway. Other than that, they are pretty indestructible with the fusion technology which hardens the metal for keeping the blade sharp and extend time between sharpenings.

I prefer a 52" over a 36" any day as the 52" will have more power and more lift for the blades. It seems to me the 36" mowers just do not create the same lift/vacuum my 52" mowers do. Yes, these mulching blades work great for anything I have ever thrown at them but some times you just need a good ole double cut to get everything mulched up and clean cut, especially for those clients that don't want it done regularly if you provide that kind of service.
