I’ve never seen a more complete performance. Seriously, going basically bogey free in a wooded course and seeing Isaac basically not miss a shot. It couldn’t believe it. I can’t imagine somebody having a better performance. And under the circumstances it’s just such a great sports story. Amazing. Congrats to Isaac!

Shout out to Gatekeeper for not spoiling the scores so I could watch chase first and come back here without knowing the results. I also avoid the comment section until after it's over. So glad Isaac could hold it down the stretch and play like a true champ. Great to see a Finn on the podium and fun to watch Niklas play. Silas also keeping it exciting on chase, and Eagle slipping almost unnoticed all the way to 2nd. The play is just incredible with so many players that could take home the trophy on any given week. The men's league is so competitive.

The friends at the end make the finish a lot more fulfilling. Seems like it's usually awkward standing around after a tournament win for TDs and pros, but the pure excitement and joy from a group of friends and family really makes it enjoyable to watch.

The chase card phenomena is b/c all of these players are beyond amazing the only thing that gets them is the pressure and nerve of the lead card, truly freeing up the pressure and anxiety and allowing the players to play as aggressive as it can get and shoot ridiculous scores. And I love it rn, especially because it will subside and players will get better at finishing out on the final day lead card. Isaac dominated this weekend well deserved
@TheDrakmannen
@TheDrakmannen Жыл бұрын
@@chucksherron Agreed, the only reason Isaac could hold on to the lead was because he came into it with such a big lead, otherwise chase card couldve realisticly caught him. Still, insane shred from Isaac all 4 days, GG's!

Too bad about Silas not making the last day same card scenario but he still played incredible! I get the feeling we'll be seeing a lot more Niklas on Jomez this summer too. The smoothness of some of these shots these pros are throwing these days is just awe inspiring and I didn't think I could get any more hyped about what we're going to see this season but it's happening! Congrats to Isaac! He made this course look easier than past years for sure!

Issac's smooth, effortless seeming form only hints at his power and accuracy. That dude can chuck a disc like few others. Congrats. This seemed like a friendly, open, fair and even keeled tournament. Ricky and McBeth no where to be seen on coverage. Simon and Eagle in the shadows (until Eagle swoops in at the end). I like those guys but it's good to see _some_ newer faces at the top tier at a really big tournament. Niklas, Joona and Väinö add legitimacy to the power of Finnish disc golf prowess. What a great season we are experiencing.

This was an amazing tourney. Isaac just lacing pretty much every shot and Niklas chasing with pure shot after pure shot...these fellas set the tone at the top and to be honest, even with James struggling towards the end, their energy helped the other card mates step up their games. Mason Ford...sheesh, he has the touch, and I really enjoyed watching him in the final round. Overall, what a fantastic job by these fellas. Also...Isaac with a wire to wire lead on MPO and Kristin Tattar doing the same on FPO was so great to see.

I loved watching yhe coverage of this tournament. I still miss the old layout for the video BUT I loved these nerve wrecking holes being thrown absolutely perfect. The shot shaping in the woods is so satisfying to watch and the course is way more similar to the ones I personally play (obviously way more difficult but wooded lines instead of a golf course layout) than some other courses. I loved it. I loved watching this. I hope wooded courses keep getting even more of the norm on tour. The only thing I didn't like about this course was the amount of par 4:s as it is slightly more difficult to keep track of pace, if more of the holes were more technical and shorter I think it'd be perfect.

Jerm, I think you nailed it when you were talking about Robinson and the 'extraneous routine'. I've encountered this phenomenon in other technically oriented activities, where the elimination of 'extraneous routine' becomes the key to nailing your shot. It would seem that the avoidance of unnecessary superstition would eliminate potential "excuses" from rearing their ugly heads. I had little league teammates that swore they missed the ball because I stepped on the chalk line...I said, "no", you missed it because instead of practicing 'getting down on the ball' in practice like you were supposed to, you worried about people stepping on the chalk line...and that became your "excuse" for why you didn't make that play! Don't import bunk. Makes sense to me.

If there is a course nearby, go there and ask if someone knows any contacts to a local club. Or local club might have a website or FB page or something. I am pretty sure there are people who are willing to teach you. It doesn't even need to be a pro player. Someone who knows how to throw correctly and who is a good teacher. Clinics are not necessarily the best ones. One instructor and 30-40 people. There isn't much time for invidual teaching. There might be a pro close to you or home nearst course who gives private lessons. Probably takes something like 20-30 bucks for an hour.

I didn't even know Niklas had taken 2nd place at the USDGC... The DGPT are really screwing us Europeans over with the no post-prod at USDGC. I was so happy to finally see a Finn at the big stage and now I'm just kinda bummed out that he'd already been there once. Really USDGC doesn't feel like a major even to me. I know it's a major and a big deal, but to me as a fan I really couldn't care less about the USDGC as I don't get to be excited to see the round so I just get a facebook post saying somebody won a tournament and move on...

Now I know my opinion is maybe a bit ridiculous here. But I feel like James could be more accurate doing a more controlled runup. His runup is just too flamboyant for me. Obviously, I'm being nitpicky like Paul and it's his own thing. But, I can't stop thinking about how he seems to be less consistent than the rest of the card at this moment. He just seems to be moving so much faster and not getting more distance but is missing more lines.
@NickCarroll
@NickCarroll Жыл бұрын
I've seen a number of slomo side views of James' drives off various tee pads and it just seems relatively out of control compared to nearly everyone else, but it's a stark contrast to Paul McBeth, Bradley Williams, and Mason Ford. Not just because of the size difference, but the pace and form. I'd love to see James take a page out of their books and see about a super controlled, concise walk-up. Given his size and length, I bet he could throw farther than the names I mentioned, given enough time to iron his form out.
@JaredTG.
@JaredTG. Жыл бұрын
You could be correct, I've had that thought before. It's just not going to change at this point though. He isn't 20 years old, he's been throwing that way for so long that to try and totally change it would be very difficult and potentially could be catastrophic to his game. And I mean his wild running form has got him where he's at so even if there is some untapped potential I think he will still be satisfied with his career once its done.
