It does come in handy when your "supposed" to be working... but making/taking a call on the sled came in handy a week back when someone in our group turned down the wrong trail, was able to call the front person to stop and wait till we caught them.

@@russ7r its the lead riders responsibility to keep the group together and maintain a speed that allows everyone to keep up based off of the slowest rider! This is taught in the basics of a snowmobile course.

Great question, I thought the same thing and asked the question when I was with their engineers, however they assured me the testing they have done it's actually a warmer sled overall. ~AJ

Lynx is actually offering a 146 turbo sled, I can't say it was a crossover, but it is a step in the right direction. Edit: I should note that it is the new 850 etec Turbo R with 180 hp.

I'm guessing the link between brands riding apps won't happen anytime soon, would be nice, but that'll have to be a 3rd party app hack ~AJ

They did address this at the online dealer meeting. They have said they are pushing very hard to ensure all orders will be fulfilled next year. Actually they currently have 95% of all current year orders delivered which is impressive, I think they have the highest delivery rates this season of any brand. And while getting your sled in Feb isn't desirable, it's not just a power sports issue, it's sort of a world thing, so I can understand a bit more. Hopefully things will start to turn a corner worldwide in that regard. ~AJ

Hey, good questions. So when it comes to trail the main benefit is from the motor mount and the 3 position KYB shocks. The biggest felt difference on the trail sled is the reduction in vibration, followed by the reduced sound because of the sound matting. Does it ride different, no, it's the same front and rear suspension besides the 3 position KYB's. The bodywork does make it easier to see the spindles and therefore does give you a different view of the trail. Now on the Mountain side there are a lot of differences both material and felt. Most noticeably is the narrower overall body and slimmer panels. When you pull it over in the snow it's gotta be way way over before you're thinking about paneling out, and at that point things have probably gone way wrong if you do. The vibration and sound reduction is noticeable right away as well but if you're running the turbo it's the power that you'll feel the first time you squeeze the trigger. 180HP feels insanely strong, and depending on what sled you're riding the weight can be reduced dramatically so it makes that HP increase feel even stronger. Now the rear suspension changes are also a big felt difference. Changing that front torque arm length and angle makes it get onto of the snow easier and changing out the rear t motion to a fixed rear along with the increased limiter adjustment on the expert, yeah it all adds up to more potential. I will say with the new rear skid without the t-motion and without the flex edge and with the new skis it can require a bit more muscle to get the sled where you want it but I find the trade off to be well worth it. Once on edge the sled is super predictable and thats ultimately what I want, getting it on edge isn't an issue for me, keeping it predictable and steady is something I value more and I found the Expert that I spent a fair bit of time on to do just that. The industry seems to be getting much more tech on the sleds, I guess the nice thing is you have to opt in for the new screen even on the XRS models, it's not standard on anything so not a requirement to have it should you not see the need. Reliability seems to be something they have lots of, and this sled really feels like a refinement of the G4, lots of little things changed to bring up the ride experience. Number one felt difference for me was vibration, it's far smoother. ~AJ

this follows a pattern! the came out with the XP and made a newer refined machine with the XS/XM chassis then came the gen 4, I was kind of looking at the future expecting an improved gen 4 before we got anything new so here it is! I don't mind the looks of these newer trail machines but the summit with those hoods and headlights look just goofy

@@davehaas6830 The handling if great. It is a little front heavy in my opinion and I'd like to see it more like the Polaris Indy. Which I think has the best front end handling. I have a 22 XCR this year after selling my 21 XRS 850.The rear suspension is the best in the buisness hands down. The reason I sold is it lost its ability to pull the skis with the new X suspension. Way too flat in my opinion, but thats exactly what Ski doo wanted to do. I like more playful feel and like to ride out some wheelies. I never rode your Cat but I think its a big upgrade whatever you decide.

Great question, I would be shocked if they didn't update the rest of the line up next year, or at least a good majority of the sleds including the 4 strokes. I would imagine the 4 strokes will need updated bodywork to fit so it may be similar to other years where they come out with a wide body version. Although thats just my assumption. ~AJ

The big difference with the 7s is you dont need cell service to run the gps. Havent seen the new screen yet but the 7s is awesome

I would say on the trail sleds your right on, this is a refined sled, it's the same chassis, suspension and engine so I agree it's refinement not something completely new. The looks seem to have people in a love it or hate it but I can say from riding them it's way better looking in my opinion. I don't disagree that windshields are nice, but I think like may of them the showroom appeal is what they are going for. Would be nice if it came with a choice of a low/mid/high in a box. The gauge is very much improved, we also wondered why no built in GPS but SKi-Doo says they can better update and have access to the most recent and real mapping databases by updating the BRP GO app the screen uses. I see both sides of things, if you're always riding in cell coverage then this makes good sense to me and the quick link up to the sled through bluetooth is very good now. If you ride remote or in areas without cell coverage then the gauge will be much less useful. If it had built in GPS and a GPS speedo this would be the best gauge in the industry. ~AJ

I love your comment on the windshield why did they get rid of the windshield I think they should make it taller my 2008 has a nice big windshield but I wish it was about another foot and a half taller so that when I’m standing up I can see over it but while I’m sitting down I can’t I wrote a brand new 20 2800 and it was awful I don’t care what anybody says it was awful to ride the wind Baskins you all day long and if it’s snowing I got bashed in the chest it went up my helmet windshield should be bigger people.

Never know, maybe Arctic cat, Yamaha, or Polaris will come up with a new revolutionary chassis design, like skidoo did with the first REV platform. But I really don't know how much better it can get beyond changing parts that go on each chassis.

Id say you're not far off. The level of ride compliance and quality of build is pretty high right now. Seems like small tweaks and refinements and visual changes are the norm. Although i'm guessing there will be some big announcements at some point with an idea that blows our minds in the next few years. Engineers seems to never sleep. ~AJ

Yeah I caught that too. Needing cell phone service in the middle of no where in order for the GPS to function seems just, I don't know.... I'm interested in switching over to Skidoo but this would be a deal breaker for me personally.

I think he is wrong on this. You may need cell service to load in a route or get the map loaded, but once under way, it should be true gps with no need of cell service. We have to keep our ears open on this, but i think the man misspoke. If he is correct, then its a truly stupid setup. I would have to stick with my Garmin if that's the case.

I think I've given them a lot of praise. I can pick things I prefer on both the Ski-Doo and the Polaris but overall both sled brands are making absolutely world class product. ~AJ

You can always use GPS on your mobile device regardless of an internet or cellular connection. As long as you have a charged smartphone with you, you can find your way around remote areas and foreign landscapes. GPS tracking on your phone works just as well without internet connectivity or cellular service.

@@dirttraxtv hard for me to believe skidoo would do something like that. As much thought that goes into their snowmobiles, you would think that cell service-less GPS would be pretty important. Considering the times you need GPS is usually is when you have no service. I mean I would still buy one (if I had the money), but it just seems like a huge oversight.

@@duckdestroyer2412 I just switched to a 2022 Polaris Switchback Assault mostly because of Ride Command and the fact it works without cell service. I can even see the location of my sons when they ride just from their cell phones. I had been very happy with Arctic Cats, but brand loyalty is generally bad for the consumer. We should gravitate to the best product, not defend manufacturers because of blind loyalty. BRP is a large company. The GPS thing is a big deal. A lot of people sled where there are no towers…what is the point if you have to have cell service? Useless.

@@znickell to be fair most people I know and myself, we usually ride places we are relatively familiar with, if not we still understand our bearings, so a GPS to us is a lot less important, than say someone up in the backcountry, or exploring the trails.

@@duckdestroyer2412 yes but to those riders any form of mapping is less valuable. The folks who need it are the ones who likely can’t use it due to service. I like riding from Sault Ste Marie to Wawa, Halfway Haven and that region, and GPS is very beneficial there.

I really like the remake of the orange-yellow that they put on the new blizzards and renegades, I think they called it neo yellow. Can't beat the classic yellow and black. But yeah most every other color could go, like the expert package summit with that nasty grey and green accent colors were just gross. Bring back the yellows, blacks, whites, and oranges. Skidoo colors, not everybody else's colors.

MY 2 CENTS YES THE HIGH END SLEDS ARE EXPENSIVE AND I AGREE WITH AND SO ARE ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT BEING SAID IM A BIG BORE-FLANTLANDER AND THE 850 IS MANDATORY I REPLIED AS IM LOOKING AT THE 650 XRS AS A ALTERNATIVE AND ILL PROBABLY WONT BE HAPPY WITH IT BUT I THINK SKIDOO WITH ALL THEIR MODEL LINE UP HAS A SLED THATS ALITTLE LESS EXPENSIVE AT A 650 IS GOING BACK WARDS FOR SAKE OF TRYING TO KEEP THE PRICE DOWN TRAIL PERMITS INSURANCE EVEN THE COST OF FUEL .............................. Ski-Doo has told us their GPS works without cell coverage. We have not been able to test this out, but intend to.
