I’m disappointed in the Superman in it, I just want the doomsday as a single release with blue shorts and boots

Thank you for your honesty and transparency on your reviews. You can like something, you can dislike something, but calling it for what it is--that's WHERE IT'S AT. Hopefully it will make for better iterations in the future.

Congratulations on the extremely sensible review. I would really like McFarlane to see this. It's unfortunate that this kind of product has been approved and made available in the market, in the manner that it was. I really hope he sees your review, as well as the reviews from many other collectors who are outraged by this lazy work. It doesn't hurt to dream... but who knows, maybe he'll do a re-release with the classic version of Doomsday?

Agreed. Saw 3 of these at Target and passed. Love that iconic cover of Superman #75 and have a few issues in my collection, but my eyes kept telling me something looked off about both figures, especially Superman's face. For $60 they could have thrown in a base with a cape to recreate that cover. That probably would have turned me from a pass to a buy. Still, could be worse...could have gotten a Snyderverse Doomsday.

Okay, the superman is a flop. I do wish they packed the doomsday figure separately as a solo release. Leaving room for extra paint and costs to go into the doomsday and really paint him to the nines! And then have a separate superman solo figure where they could focus on him a lot more!!!

This is the truest video ever. Like what is wrong with these toy companies that are designing this stuff. I’ve had these questions about McFarlane DC figures forever. What’s with the weird hands? Why don’t you give them more accessories? Why do they all look so derp? Why do people keep spending money on these things? Why don’t they look like the characters we know from the comics? Why do they take so many creative liberties? Why do we need a hundred obscure Batmans? Why don’t they give them posable cloth wired capes?

One thing i observed from Mcfarlane toys once they gave in to the request of collectors, and if it’s not batman related they will deliberately f**k it up.

This tall Doomsday is making me despise the shortness of the Devastator all over again...

Lets just hope they make a single boxed doomsday, because i want the normal superman that will be released

Yeah, I hate to comment for the first time and shit on anything, but from the first time I saw this I could tell that it… wasn’t what we wanted. No Gold S, no fists and the Doomsday… we’ve been waiting for it and while awesome - I don’t want to take away from that - it’s just… not what I was hoping for. But on the plus side, we got like 4 Azreals before they for it right, so better luck next time!

All I want is a classic 90’s Superman with the yellow S on the back of cape. Is that so hard Todd?

I honestly like the Doomsday, despite his flaws, except the reused arms with the unpainted torn clothes. Superman on the other hand is a HUGE disappointment. Yeah, this set isn't worth $60. I'm waiting for it to go on clearance.

I appreciate the honest opinion, I have this set ordered for pickup and I’m still gonna get it. I’m not a die hard DC fan, I definitely have my favorite DC stuff but I’m personally ok with this look of Doomsday. Like you stated you step back and look and say alright yeah that’s Doomsday which I’m ok with. But I’ll admit I’m already planning to customize that Superman, cause I can agree this is not my favorite body type for Superman. Yeah I could’ve tried the wait game to get it in clearance but I did want Doomsday. And I’m curious what I can come up with for this Superman. Love your videos and I admire the honesty.

Your review is spot-on. Why is it so hard for Todd to get Superman right? He has access to all art and story elements from DC, yet we can’t get a faithful Dan Jurgens Superman and Doomsday? I’ll be sticking with my DCUC and DC Icons figures.

I just don't like how McFarlane does DC stuff, my biggest gripe with them is just the engineering of the articulation, but I also concur with the things you raised in this video. The DC stuff often lacks an attention to detail, and Todd and co. often seem to "take liberties" with designs.

Up until the side-by-side comparrisan with Devistator, i was wondering if those things on Doomsday's arms were unpainted clothes or really odd looking spikes I don't mind parts being reused.... but seriously? Couldn't the biceps get a new sculpt? Or repaint the torn clothes Green?

Actually really love the Doomsday figure although i'll probably paint a wash on mine just for some more detail. Superman's not bad but I wish they tattered his costume more too, basically like how it looked in the final stages of the fight in Superman 75.

If I got this 2 pack I would definitely custome it ,but doomsday first appearance he did have a thin pony tail lol but that Superman can do anything with him , I rather use the mafex hush Superman as a replacement

If they want to do a single pack Doomsday with an accurate head and better paint I might pick that up. This two pack is just not for me. I already bought that Superman a couple of times and the rest is not what I'm looking for. I know reuse is a part of the game, but sometimes it just gets lazy.

I like my set, I'm not totally into comic accurate figures, just has to be cool. N I did have to customize the paint myself but for a mega fig n a regular fig 60 wasn't a bad price I think.

I impulsed bought it while hunting for GI joes and still have not taken it out of the bag.

I was actually interested in this 2 pack until I saw it in store and just didn't like the look of the superman he definitely needed more battle damage and maybe some on doomsday

I like this two pack. Superman should’ve really been more battle damaged. Looks like he just fell off a bike. Doomsday is awesome, and I’m pretty satisfied with it. Now they gotta start tooling the Speeding Bullet and Knightfall Batman buck more often from now on. More preferably the Speeding Bullet one.

Just like his recently announced first appearance Superman, it’s not accurate at all to the source material. It’s just a thing that exist, for no reason. They’re not toys of original characters. They are supposed to represent the comics. They don’t. So what’s the point?

Preach!! 100% agree, it's like you totally read my mind. Except... my Doomsday also has weak hip and knee joints and fell over twice before I finally just propped him up against the back of the bookshelf. I might add some paint details to him later, or I may just try to forget he exists...

I'm not sure what you are going on about with the boots. He doesn't have grey on his boots from the classic image.

Agree, McFarlane seems to dislike Superman and trolls Superman fans for all the "so close but so far, almost, and another missed opportunity" Superman figures. McFarlane fan boys keep saying don't expect top quality for affordable figures but these figures are peak capitalism screw the fans thing Todd is doing to Superman fans. 😢

Really subpar set. The Doomsday I got was loose all over! Torso, head, and hips were floppy. I returned it. I didn't even mind the design of Doomsday, but crappy engineering is unacceptable. And Superman is just fugly.

McFarlane needs to stop with the Gold Label exclusive nonsense, it's pure cringe. Just make toys and release them gawd.

See Todd has his moments were he'll release really good, accurate and really detailed figures, and then he will realease stuff like this thats really not accurate and kinda disappointing.

Thank you for reviewing this & for taking one for us collectors by buying this. I don't think Todd cares for Superman & this shows. I'm sick of the infected/Rebirth Superman body & hope they retire it as soon as possible.

maybe McFarlane doesn't think Superman is "cool" unlike batman who gets a ton of unique molds. even the "collectors" edition 1st appearance superman only has 1 fist

I'm kind of disappointed at the doomsday hes hollow on the chest and the joints are loose Come in McFarlane I like my figures my with heavy durable chest. McFarlane toys are getting cheap with the plastic like marvel legends assbroo if he keeps doing this ill stop collecting his line. Superman where are the fist punching hands for crying out loud. The sculpting of doomsday is badass. I'll give them that but it feels cheap come on McFarlane you know better. 😠😠😠

The legs on my doomsday are pretty loose and it came that way right out of the package it's annoying @toyshiz
