Commuted on honda 50/70/90/125 for 40 yrs got soaked and cold. Bought an xmax250 10 yrs ago. No chain, easy belt change at 12 k weather protection, dry legs and feet. Not good on fuel but even 250 out accelerate normal cars. Fantastic vehicles. Don’t replace a proper bike imo. Rode mine to southern Spain and back twice. Cruising 65-70. Biggest thing for me was no chain maintenance and no need for piling on protective clothing. Maintenance is easy too. Only bug bear is rear tyre change. Fair bit of work. Ok if can do self. I didn’t pay a lot for mine but think they are very expensive now. Also very stealable. Even second hand pricey. Some of the lesser known brands have rear monoshock suspension now, better that crude twin springs which is a bit crashy. I found that it was my go to transport nip to shops park on pavement. Very seductive once you’ve had one.

I had a Burgman 400 a few years ago. Apart from the heavy weight pushing it around parking spots and the over-firm suspension it was a brilliant scooter. No-one could ever complain it was sluggish. Just before they were withdrawn from the UK I traded down for a Burgman 200 which is a lot lighter and still will do motorway speeds with ease. I did a 3000 mile tour of Spain and Portugal on it and only needed a small strap on bag behind me as its boot was also enormous. I loved the analogue, very clear gauges. BTW the 200 averaged 95 miles to the gallon. I never felt I needed any more power. Thanks for the review.

The best part of Maxi scoots is long distance touring. The room, space, weather protection and comfort are awesome. Also no chain to adjust. The best part of the Burgman are the killer twin front discs and excellent ABS. Compared to the braking on any of the bikes I've had, the Burgman rules. For the quickest reaction in an emergency; you can't beat handbrakes. My 500F is for day rides in the twisties. Fun yes but it doesn't have the same room or comfort for long travel.

Nice review. I have motorbikes and scooter and love both. The Forza 350 Maxi scooter I have is 20kg down on the Burgman with similar power, more space, is £1k cheaper and has a brilliant electric screen! Perfect for commuting or trips to the shops. 82mpg too. Great fun in environments where motorbikes are a pain. The motorbikes are fun in areas Scooters aren't, so great to have both in the garage!

I've just bought exactly this bike for commuting. With a top box I can take a jacket and briefcase. When I get to work even if I'm away from the office I can leave all my gear in the bike. In the Bournemouth city traffic it the perfect mode of transport. In the summer the missus jumps on the back and we hardly use the car. Free parking everywhere. It's brilliant.

Great video that and the real world overtakes very useful. When i lived in mallorca i had a kymco 125 maxi and it did everything we needed and two up shopping etc. ended up moving back to the uk and shipped it back, rode it from ramsgate to suffolk from the delivery company and parked it up. Never got to get it on road in uk and sadly scrapped it which was a shame. Did my full bike licence snd only then i found out i needed a cbt for it 😂 only been riding it in spain for three years on a uk car licence 🤦🏼‍♂ now got a 850 GSA And a 2023 street triple rs but feeling the want for the forza 350 for round town. Ironically the advanced police motorcyclist i bought my gsa off had bought the forza 350 for the London commute. Keep up the great work. You and Andy are my two go toos for real world. I had an '07 Burgman 400. It was wonderful machine. Powerful and heavy enough to ride on the Hi-way, yet still returned approximately 70 mpg (US gal). the space under the seat could accommodate a case of beer. I got rid of it over concerns of riding while I was the sole breadwinner of a young family. With my kids all grown now, I got back into riding a few years ago. I would love to buy another. My biggest hurdle is that I need to get rid of one of my other bikes to make room in the shed for it. Thanks for the video!

Great video. Very entertaining. Been riding scooters for years due to their practicality and fun. Never understood the odd UK attitude towards them. Your video puts their attributes across very well and perhaps it'll help the nay-sayers to overcome their preconceptions of cool. They've been missing out for a long time now. Keep up the good work Lamb Chops... ride more scooters... try the Piaggio Beverly 400S if you can. I'd be really interested to see what you make of that uncool sounding bike. I think you'll be smitten. 👍

I have been biking for over forty years and had never even sat on a scooter until last year. I’ve got a few bikes but fancied a scooter so bought a BMW C400GT. It’s fantastic for getting around bit more expensive than some but very well spec’d. It has a 350cc engine does about 90-95mph with 70-80mpg sits 70 or above on the motorway 2 up. Small wheels but 120 front 150 rear mean pretty decent handling. ABS traction, twin bybre radial mounted brakes braided hoses. Can’t beat it for just nipping around or getting out and about.

He had many, many ' proper' big bikes over the years and bought this as it was comfy and easier to manage when he was having serious health issues. He absolutely loved it and swore by it, I sadly never rode it as wasn't really interested at the time, probably due to the same said stigma that you mentioned! 😅 Certainly looks like it goes better than I thought it would or gave it credit for! Sadly don't have either now, if only we all had a crystal ball! Lovely little review, but can see why he loved it so much! 😂👍👌😎

After nearly forty years of riding, I put my butt on a smaller scoot a couple of years ago for the first time and I was sold. I've got a Honda Forza300 now and I ride this more than I ever rode any of my other bikes. Yeah, I get a bit of ribbing...but none of them ride their bikes nearly as much as me. My truck barely moves during the riding months, which has been extended due to the scoot.

It's mainly and initially for a charity ride this year but would rather get something I like and that means something rather than a shorter term flash in the pan turnaround. The traction control might seem like a joke to bikers used to big power, but it is actually a good thing with a torquey single cylinder motor and a 13" rear wheel. In the wet without it the rear wheel can spin up if you give a decent handful of revs. I've got an earlier model (2012) which I've had for about 3 years now, and have had the rear wheel spin up and step out on wet roundabouts when I've been a bit careless with my throttle hand. A great review. I have ridden one in Italy and really enjoyed it. The problem is the UK weather and them getting nicked.

Welcome to scoots! Bought a Forza350 2 years ago, changed it this year for a X-ADV750, both brilliant, the ADV is off the scale of scoots. Still have a normal bike, but a convert to scoots, especially as you get older and more aches and pains.

Have ordered a Forza 750 since it has better comfort than the x-adv and wife preferred it. Ofc with heated grips and a smart top box. Black with gold rims, awesome looking bit of kit.

The ultimate scoot, I give you ths T max tech max, Basically a motorcycle dressed as a scooter. Expensive but one heck of a peice of kit. Took the sting out of not being able to ride bikes due to medical issues 😢.

I bought a 2012 plate 400 burgman to go work and back on for £800 as a dealer px goes really well 90 mph where the law allows and great fun grinding out the exahust and side stand

Used to have a Peugeot speed fight 50cc 2t and a gilera runner 125sp 2t some of the most fun I’ve had on 2 wheels the gilera did 75-80 with a bit of fettling and I used to get pulled out on all the time with people expecting me to be going 30mph

As well as a litre bike I have a scooter for nipping about, they are brilliant and I’ve owned it for 6 years. I have a Yamaha Xmax 400, still does nearly 100 mph and motorway are easy.

BMW gave me one of these for the day while the XR was being serviced. For city riding there’s nothing better than one of these or something similar. You can carry loads and riding is pain and stress fee. Loads less faff. And you seem to have more time to see stuff. I wouldn’t be without my overpowered monster machines but if I rode into town each day it would be on one these things.

I agree with one caveat. Insurance should be calculated seperately for scooters to other two wheelers. They are many times more likely to be used for commuting which between the roads and where they get left is a massive increase in risk.

I used to hate scooters until I rode one. I had been in Chiang Rai a while before I got round to riding. It was a Honda Wave 125i. I'd always fancied one as they are iconic. It was awful. I couldn't wait for the week's rental to end. When it did, I rented a Yamaha Aerox 155 scooter. I was blown away by the acceleration, although the suspension was rubbish. At the end of the week's rental, I bought one. Over three years later, it's my day-to-day transport, although I have two motorcycles, as well. The Burgman is good. Don't like the styling. They should stick the engine in an adventure styled one with good, long-travel suspension, and they'd dominate the market. Nick

My first two wheeler when I was still a bit undecided about going to bikes was a £600 Honda Pantheon 125 scooter. Ran it for 4 years, alongside a Chinese geared 125 after the first year. Still get a hankering for a Piaggio three wheeler or even the newish Kymco 530 trike, I do have these weird thoughts at times so who knows? Never grow up and become an old geezer is my philosophy.

Talking about overpowered bikes, I’m considering trading up my mint GSXR K7 for a 2017 GSXR1000. A bit more power and comes with the factory quickshifter/blipper. You have a K8 and rode the 2017 model with all the upgraded toys: is the upgrade worth it? Is it as comfortable as the K7? I’m not a track day boy, just love whizzing around the twistiest in the Surrey hills with the odd pit stop for a coffee and bacon sandwich. My K7 is all black but can’t find a 2017 in the same colours (all seem to have coloured wheels) so may have to go for the Triton blue Moto GP look. A bit bright for my taste but it is the classic GSXR colour..

Same thing here in Canada. I had to buy used 2016 Forza300 last year...the last year that Honda brought them in. Everybody offers 50cc, but not much in the Maxi's. Fortunately the old gal didn't ride the scoot...only 390kms (240 miles) on it.

I really can't see the point of a rev counter on a scooter (to be frank, they're not much use on a bike/car) given that its got auto gearing. A nice, big analogue clock, the type that keeps the time, would be more beneficial.
