@@SippyCupAdventures I can definitely use some advice. Thanks. My boat has been sitting without being used for about 4 years. I just got a 20 hp motor and I am planning to go out. I’d like to know of a few places where I can hand launch and also traditional launch on Folsom lake or American river. This past weekend we went to Beals point, the rocks and trees kind of make it hard to launch. Mine is 14 ft and I have to drag it a few meters to the shore before launching. Any places would be appreciated by my family. Thanks.

@@philos212 We have only launched from one area, and that is at Granite Bay Main Beach. We back down with our car to the far left, out of everyone else's way who is launching their boat. We unload, and then drive up and park, and typically my wife stayed with the boat and I walk back down after parking. There is also Folsom Point and Rattlesnake Bar (which are less busy) but Granite Main Beach is the widest ramp, but also the busiest. You can also try Lake Natoma where the water is much more calmer, maybe more conducive for the kids. You can launch at Black Miners Bar, or, Nimbus Flat. Motorized boats ARE allowed on Lake Natoma, but, you must cruise at 5mph or less. The ramp at Nimbus Flat is very short, so, you don't have to drag the boat that far. Launching a boat, of any size, can be intimidating, certainly, especially on a hot, busy weekend day, but, just go for it. As long as you stay out of the way of the boaters, they don't care much. We don't "get in line" as boaters typically do. We just see an opening and go for it, again, staying out of the way. Hope this helps! 🥤

Also, you will have to register your boat, I imagine? May have to google that. We did not with ours because we used a battery operated trolling motor, which didn't require licensing.

@@philos212 I need to reiterate from this post. ⬆We don't have a boat trailer. Yes, we would air up our raft, and carry it down to the left side of the boat ramp, and then drive down the ramp to unload our stuff. That would only take a couple of minutes to do this.

I would say, maybe Lake Natoma (The Nimbus Flat State Recreation Area). A big beach. Lots of parking. Calm Waters, and the Sacramento State Aquatics Center is located next store if you wanted to rent kayaks or paddleboards??

Folsom Lake SRA. At Beals point you will be close to the lake. The other camping spot at Folsom Lake is called the Peninsula Campground. It's more remote and a longer drive.
