Owned a BRZ for 5 months now and 3,000 kilometres. These things get a lot better once the break in and are way better when you drive it not just commute in it. It’s not fast in a straight line but you will find yourself speeding in it quite easily.

I have a Premium AT. The AT has drink holders you can use ( I love to drink and drive...coffee) If I want to play race driver I can always use the paddle shifters. I will be 80 too soon (this month). This 86 is fun to drive and has enough HP, you always want more!!! I only dislike that it's hard to get in and out of. I'm lucky I'm a short old fart. I wish there was a track near me so I could drive it fast and safe.

It was a pain but I used my 22 brz to help my mom move and you'd be suprised how much stuff I got in there with the seat folded down. It was pretty snug compared to my impreza 5 door but I was pleasantly surprised with how much stuff I actually fit in there.

im definitely going to hold out for the next gen, rumored to have an in house engine making more power and i hope they give us an updated infotainment(hope it doesn't stick out from above the dash) and with a decent sound system
@ighostfaces6 ай бұрын
Highly doubt those rumors, but who knows lets say it turns out to be true, It still wouldn't be the same car experience.
@zykotek12216 ай бұрын
@ighostfaces the source has always been spot on over the years with his leaks. Toyota did part ways with subaru so the next gen is going to be in house, plus the 2024 is getting better brakes and a decent sound system so things are already aligning. Also i know the car is fun and feels great just how it is but some of us would like more power out of a small compact car and i have been thinking of dropping an inline 6 in one but if they do put a turbo in it from factory that makes 300 crank then it'd be better for me to wait. And pricing wouldn't be that drastic, there's going to be a base, base +, and a premium
@ighostfaces6 ай бұрын
@@zykotek1221 There’s no room for this “car”, GR Corolla starts at 38k and it’s already more of a successor to the original 86 anyway, link your source and id be more than happy to see what they have gotten right.
@AskforBryan6 ай бұрын
If you want more power in a small rear wheel drive car , The four-cylinder Turbo and 6 cylinder turbo Supra. The four-cylinder Turbo makes around 250 horsepower with great torque and of course the Supra makes close to 400 horsepower if not more.

I've been looking at these cars. Not sure about the boxer engine though, seen some RTV issues talked about and some weird maintenance requirements, otherwise a solid engine, but a bit of an unknown to me.
@ViciousFirearms6 ай бұрын
If it makes you feel any better, Toyota made BMW tweak the B58 so that it’d be up to Toyota’s reliability standards when they put it in the new supra so maybe they did that here too with this engine?
@AskforBryan6 ай бұрын
Yeah the Subaru engine is unfortunately the weakest point of these. Generally though, left a stock they do okay.
@arandomcommenter70515 ай бұрын
How to fix any “issues” with the FA24 if you plan on tracking the car: 1) you do NOT run 0w-20, that shit shears BAD at 250*F, you run 5W-40, fuck what Toyota says that is what GR-Cup cars run. 2) overfill at LEAST .5L, up to 1.0L for TRACK USE ONLY. This reduces pressure lost on right hand turns under load. I went from seeing 18-22psi on hard rights on 200 tread, to 45psi+ 3) oil cooler. Factory oem one doesn’t hack it. Smaller core size, shorter lines. Some coolers have a larger pressure delta than others. I’ve seen some people eliminate the oem one and just run the a/m because of the pressure delta across the system contributing to pressure losses. 4) get an oil pressure gauge, i went 52mm AEM unit with a 3D printer gauge attached to a vent. 5) optional baffle. To this date no baffle has been proven to reduce the drop, in part because they’re a horizontal design rather than one designed to keep oil on the side side of the pan on right hand turns. There are developments being made on this. Do this, get yourself some catless unequal lengths, e85, and some Zach at CSG magic ecutek services, and party on

@AskforBryan6 ай бұрын

@arandomcommenter70515 ай бұрын
It’s not a comparison. Shifter is better/smoother but longer throws in the Si, clutch is MUCH softer, but the 86 leaves it in the dust stock vs stock. People shit on the FA24 but the L15 is even more suspect, thin ass rods that like to exit the chat after a downpipe swap and a tune lol

@arandomcommenter70515 ай бұрын
Oil pressure is fixable bud. 1) 5W-40 NOT 0W-20 EPA GARBAGE 2) .5-1.0L overfill for track use only 3) a/m oil cooler with smaller core, shorter lines, smaller pressure delta. Remove the oem is pressure drops across the system are more than 6-7psi from one end to the other. 4) baffle (though I do recommend waiting for the vertical designs coming out that keep oil on the right side during right hand turns 5) oil pressure gauge to monitor system. People who have done this have eliminated 90% of the pressure drops on right hand turns without the use of accusump
