Great video! I have been looking for a system for my home - most interfaces are clunky, and though many talk about being able to handle multiple 4k streams, in reviews, results are mixed (Amcrest systems, etc). I am looking to have about 6 cameras, possibly all 4k. Also, seems like they have a decent price range that doesn't break the bank? Does this system ONLY work with Unifi cameras, or, can you mix and match? Just curious!

What do you think of the unifi G4 bullet? I have a lot of them and they have held up well in extreme environmental conditions.

The problem with EUFY security is that it uses its own wifi system from its Homebase. You cannot use your own wifi infrastructure. Found that out after I purchased. EUFY also uses only 2.4Ghz range and wpa2, so it is not exactly secure as WPA3 is much better. I am going to install unifi cameras on my UDM SE, to compliment my eufy cameras which are otherwise working well.

I have eufy cameras aswell. I’m waiting on there new e330 professional which is wired and has all the features and is stand alone. All my eufy devices are stand alone other than the battery ones.

I too was disappointed in the Base station setup. If you want to have total control over IP and WIFI just go with the cameras they have that don't need a base. I replaced many of mine with the Solo Cam S40. I used to have Ring and WYSE. Having too many systems is a royal pain. I'm happy I stuck with one brand and worked through the kinks as they improved the devices and software. Unfortunately, just like Apple is for personal computing, UNFI keeps marketing towards medium to large size businesses. Its OK for switches and APs because it benefits the owner. But the camera system is not home owner friendly in my opinion.

I have Eufy wired 2k cameras that don’t use Homebase and record 24/7. WiFi cameras in general is not reliable far better to use POE.

Will this work if its connected to the network through a different poe switch. I'm installing cams and they'll be really far away from the main unifi switch.

Sure, it will. All it needs is layer 3 connectivity to the NVR (or similar), the switch in the middle doesn't matter.

I just hooked up a Dream-machine SE and I have 5 G5’s $1,500. Now I’m not getting notifications and cannot view unless I’m sitting at my desktop WTF.

No, it shouldn't be that way. UniFi Protect works inside or outside of your home network. You may need to double-check the configurations or something.

Can I connect my cameras to a switch or do they have to go directly to my UDM pro to record 24/7

Cameras can be anywhere on your network. Multiple switches are fine.

Kind of. You might be in the same LAN as the controller, but you need internet for authentication...

@@KBTrainings I'm trying to sort out if I can fully utilize (partially utilize?) the camera system without internet access. If I need to do work arounds (homemade VPN) that's okay but if I'm stuck relying on Ubiquiti's website to view camera feeds, issue configuration changes, receive alerts, etc then I should look for something else. The hit to security and reliability wouldn't be worth it.

So only the controller/ NVR needs internet if you want to use the MFA option not all the cameras?

I'm not sure "internet is required to use the cameras" is actually true. You can use the NVR system and the Unifi Protect environment locally, you just have to know how to

does Unifi Protect have the feature to record when sound is detected? If so, how do I access this feature?

Protect records continuously, so no need to trigger recording.

I would like alert events when the cameras detect sound over a certain level. Synology does this but I don't think unifi does.@@jacobsheets671

You have the option of recording continuously or on a variety of events to include several types of audio detection (alarm, baby crying, etc.)

Dont waste money with eufy, they love to screw up their cameras with updates, i lost audio of 3 cameras after an update from them

These are normally setup by the user.

Because unifi forgot to add external sirens for their system 😂. This is not a certified security system, be aware it is just a camera setup with some email alerts, so not very useful as a protection system as they advertise it!
