Amazing to hear how a professional like you analyzes the game and explains your shot choices!

Thank you! Definitely tons of strategy and game adjustments that I need to make during matches now that I am no longer able to play with just speed and power 😅

@@howeezy It's a great feeling when everything comes together according to the plan in the last 5 points. (Esp. in doubles) But doesn't happen everytime 😅

I know you don’t work with a coach, but do you ever feel like it would be helpful to have a buddy there in the “coaching spot” during games so you don’t have to do all the analyzing yourself on the spot?

@@itsssssjohnny Sometimes! Like here you will see a friend come in to give me a few tips because our nationals was local. But most times when I compete internationally, there is not always someone around that come to help coach you. On top of that, most BWF level tournaments issue coaching credentials, so not just anyone can be on the court level

really nice to get the match with the comments. Many of the nuances are impossible to see from just the footage. It's much easier to learn some stuff for my own play. Thanks. =)

Hi Howard, I played a lot of volleyball and wear knee sleeves and thin pads now when I play badminton. You might want to try that in practice to keep your knees warm. But also, some of those sharp ones you are missing by fractions of seconds and the confidence to get lower and not scrape could help you. You will be able to recover many of the following shots in singles.

Ah, sometimes I wear the long compression pants but have gotten used to just wear shorts because I tend to not like having extra braces/sleeves on when I play, but maybe I'll give them a try again sometime!

What do you think is better between aerobite and aerobite boost?

This is really fantastic content 👏 Couldn’t help but notice he was far slower moving to his front backhand corner. Personally, I’d have built a lot of my rallies around this, forcing him forward, and opening up forehand rear. This would have neutralised his stronger backhand rear. You also won nearly every flat exchange so I’d have pushed that tactic a bit more. I mean, he’d have destroyed me whatever tactics I used…but if I had your skill level…😂

Yes, the front backhand area was quite vulnerable especially from my reverse drop. But I wanted to stick with my strategy of defending and playing the slow and patient game knowing that if I could defend at least 2-3 smashes per rally I would have a good chance of winning. Law of large numbers right, I should achieve the result the longer the rallies and the more points we play. The tricky situation with some of the faster younger players is that they steal too many quick easy points and you are unable to play out your game

Samuel scored so many points from overhead smash, he only started to have error in last section of 3rd game. If you clear to middle baseline instead of corner, will it make defense easier -- the smash will not have so much of angle although he will have more time and move less?

Hey, awesome video. It seems to me like u are letting ur racket hang very low. for example at 3-4 in the first set u could´ve reached the shuttle offensively instead of defensively. Just so u are aware about it off course
