Walker's Haute Route (WHR) is a 14-day hiking trail from Chamonix in France to Zermatt in Switzerland, i.e. from Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe, to the Matterhorn, one of the symbols of Switzerland. The WHR is rated as one of the best hiking trails in Europe. The trail offers views of the 4,000 peaks of the Alps and the glaciers descending from them. The length of the trail is 190 - 210 km, depending on the options chosen, during which about 15,000 meters of ascent is accumulated. The highest pass is at 2987 m. The first three stages of the WHR overlap with the Tour de Mont Blanc (TMB) hiking trail. Since we have completed the TMB 5 years ago, we shortened the route to 11 days and started our WHR trek from Champex Lac.
Including all stops, we hiked 85 hours and 16 minutes, covered 175.3 km, gained 10,132 meters of ascent and descended 11,170 meters.

Walker's Haute Route (WHR) on 14-päevane matkarada Chamonix'st Prantsusmaal kuni Zermattini Šveitsis ehk siis Lääne-Euroopa kõrgeima tipu Mont Blanci juurest Šveitsi ühe sümboli Matterhornini. WHR on hinnatud üheks parimaks matkarajaks Euroopas. Rajal avanevad vaated Alpide neljatuhandelistele tippudele ja nendelt laskuvatele liustikele. Raja pikkus on sõltuvalt valitud variantidest 190 - 210 km, mille jooksul koguneb umbes 15 000 tõusumeetrit. Kõrgeim kuru on 2987 m kõrgusel. WHR esimesed kolm etappi kattuvad Tour de Mont Blanc’i (TMB) matkarajaga.
Kuna TMB on meil 5 aastat tagasi läbitud, siis lühendasime marsruuti selle võrra 11-päevaseks ja alustasime oma WHR matka Champex Lac'ist.
Koos kõigi peatustega matkasime 85 tundi ja 16 minutit, läbisime 175,3 km, võtsime 10 132 tõusumeetrit ja laskusime 11 170 meetrit.
