The jump from a 300 to a 1000 is massive, I personally had my 600 for 2 years and it’s definitely more then enough power

Yea pretty much. You can't even use most of the performance of that liter bike in the vast majority of driving situations you will find yourself in, but you're putting yourself at greater risk of getting hurt f you whiskey throttle, you're getting less mpg, and you just have to essentially baby the throttle until you get on an empty highway or unless you're tracking it. 600 to 750 is more than enough for the vast majority of the population unless you're primarily riding bikes for ultra speed. Most people end up buying way more bike than they need over ego purposes like 'wanting the best specsheet' or trying to match their buddies when they don't intend to ride like that.

I do not ride if the temperature is below 40 degrees , because of black ice. No changes of Black Ice at that temp.

Fyi! Yamaha stopped making the R1 in Europe, but for now, they're still being sold & made for the US market :) You still can get one if you want in the future

R7 is almost a 700cc bike you’re crazy if ya don’t think that’s plenty enough bike do you go to the track all the time? No you don’t need more then 600cc on the rd

Haha we're the same. I bought my 2020 r3 new and dropped it multiple times. Had to bend my shifter back. Wind blew it over snapped a peg off. Scratches. Was going to replace the plastic since it's so cheap but. Bikes look good regardless, easy fix

I have to ask why are you considering a liter bike? You said the R3 was fine enough for every road you threw it on including highway. I get the want for more power but we're talking a 4-5x power difference. If you really want an inline 4 maybe look at Honda CB650R? Makes double the hp with an inline 4. Its your choice but that jump to a liter is wild, especially as you're only 3k miles in.

Pricing-$12k can get you a used liter bike or a new 600. Still up in the air about which i’ll pick

@nathangd I get that a liter bike would be available money wise, but I don't really understand 'why' you'd want 4-5x the power when the R3 is doing pretty good for you based on the review. I had a GSXR 750 so I definitely understand the want for more power, but with that I felt like the GSXR was overkill for what I realistically want out of a bike. So I went to 100 hp instead and tbh I don't see myself upgrading for more unless I get a sport tourer. It all depends on what you want, just tryna understand is all.

Valid point honestly, I’d say the other reason is for content. The top creators and viral bike videos are majority liter bikes… So it has nothing to do with the actual hp, more for content and expansion. I do like that they’re just built better than smaller bikes and the technology is amazing on them as well.

@nathangd I feel that, yeah the liter sportbikes definitely garter more attention, and if that's a priority for you (as a content creator it probably should be) then it's worth considering. Just as one rider to another don't fall into the hype too much, main reason to ride is for enjoyment, and these Instagram warriors wouldn't be there for you if something were to happen or if you didn't enjoy the bike as much, ya feel me?

Supersports man are race bikes with license plates on. Yeah, they good for bragging rights only and that's fair, ain't judging, but they're also good for getting you killed. You will ride as fast as your bike is fast, maybe not all of the time but at least on occasion. I'd say get the R7 next, it's super fast on the street because of that torque but if you're so set on a big Supersport you won't be able to get it out of your head. At least take it to a track and do the silly stuff there and then be chill on the street. All these small cc bikes, like the Ninja 400/500, the R3, the CBR500R, they are beautiful machines for riding and learning but also for keeping for life. Just gotta get over the "how much HP does it make" question by random folks and keep your chin up.

With you falling I don't think you're near ready for a ZX10R that bike will yeet you into the grave quick. Plus at 536lbs a bit more weight to handle. Just grow on learning skills then move up into maybe 500, 600, 700.....before going full on a bike capable of 170+ mph the ZX10R is a beast of a bike...just fair warning.
