I just purchased The Fox Wife, her debut The Ghost Wife is an amazing read that I also highly recommend. Warm Hands of Ghosts is one of my most anticipated Historical reads of this year.

I can't wait to read James. I have it on hold at my library for when it's released in March here in the U.S.. The Trees by Percival Everett was one of my best reads in 2023. It blew me away.

Great selection of books. I enjoy historical fiction but I’m so over how many are set in ww2. It’s nice to see so many options set in other time periods. Great video Katie.

Okay, Katie, so basically I am enthralled by every book you've mentioned and have made notes of at least five of these to read and in some cases have noted the prior books of the authors which I have also yet to read to the point where I'm distracted and feel like maybe I should just use my channel to refer people to your channel!! 🤣 Yikes! How exciting. Thanks for this! I am definitely all about The Fox Wife, and ANYTHING involving a woman who comes to stay at a brooding mansion! Thank you for your articulate, thoughtful descriptions and for introducing us to so many wonderful authors!

Speaking of historical fiction, have you ever read Janet Fitch's book, The Revolution of Marina M. and its sequel? I really enjoyed them. Probably the only historical fiction I've read, besides War & Peace.

Some fabulous sounding titles coming out. I have two unread on my shelf by Stacey Halls - this prompts me to pick them up!! Loved the doll factory, so look forward to Elizabeth Macneal's next book, and must also read her second.

I’m so lucky that I got sent A sign of her own by the lovelies at tandem to read very soon. Stacy halls book is on my list of books to get as soon as I can. I wondered who I heard talking about the lady’s guide to fortune hunting as I got it this month but I couldn’t remember who recommended it. I get sooo many books after hearing you recommend them. I trust your opinion as most of the time you loving a book has normally matched my opinion..

I am really looking forward to The Underground Library by Jennifer Ryan. It is World War 2 homefront, so out of your time period, but I have loved her other books. I will definitely go and pick up Miss Austen Investigates - sounds so good!

Some interesting books there! I certainly would like to read James in conjunction with Huckleberry Finn( a reread) but of course I would reread The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer first even though it's Mark Twain's boys' own tale introducing the character of Huck. Huck's story is a much darker tale however and it would be fascinating to see it all from Jim's perspective..

Why do some authors write under pen names? Also if people colaborate on a book, why not just put their actual names? That seems to happen a lot in the creative industries.

So, I think it varies - sometimes, it's for privacy reasons, or because they're writing different books in different genres. Some writers write fantasy under one name and literary under another, or crime in one name, general fiction in another, or poetry or non-fiction under one name, fiction in another. When two people collaborate on a book, it's relatively common to use a pseudonym - sometimes for cover space or because there's a feeling that readers might be put off or at least taken aback by a book with two authors.
