First introduced in May of last year, the Denza D9 is a fully electric MPV created by the Chinese company Denza, which emerged from a partnership between BYD and Mercedes-Benz. The D9 is currently being showcased at the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show, and we have live images of the MPV to share.
The Denza D9 is available in both four-seater and seven-seater configurations, with the seven-seater version on display at BIMS 2023. It boasts dimensions of 5,250 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,920 mm in height, with a 3,110 mm wheelbase. This places the D9 in a size category roughly between the Toyota Alphard and the larger Hyundai Staria.
The showcased variant at BIMS 2023 is the EV AWD, equipped with a dual-motor setup and BYD Blade batteries. These batteries provide the D9 with an impressive maximum range of 600 km on a full charge and can be recharged at a rate of up to 166 kW, as previously disclosed by Denza.
Regarding charging options, the Denza D9 features charging inlets on both sides of the vehicle. On the right side, there's a Type 2 port for AC charging, and a GB/T port for DC charging is located on the left side. This design allows the D9 to be charged from two points simultaneously if a second nearby charging unit is available.
For those seeking an even greater range than the 600 km offered by the battery-electric D9, there is a plug-in hybrid variant available. This version combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with a smaller electric motor and battery setup, and it can receive DC charging at up to 80 kW.
