I absolutely don't love that Chevy chose to change the conversation. Everyone in the EV space is talking 10 - 80% charging speeds, even Chinese who don't speak English, yet Chevy is talking about 70 miles of charge in 10 minutes? Wtf is that?🤨 Tell me you can't compete without telling me.

This is competitive for range, price and size. It's the longest in the competition. Horsepower is less than all the competition, I drove the Blazer AWD and found it to be adequate, so this is probably about the same as they are very similar in size. I think you are only getting 3 years of the Google Apps, which is a big turn off for me, but not a problem if you are leasing. I'd look at this if price was my main concern and I didn't want to buy a Tesla for whatever reason.

A few aspects I'm a little confused on: 1. The upcoming Cadillac Optiq is essentially a premium/luxury version of the Equinox EV. The Optiq AWD (standard) with a 85kw battery (same as the EQ), has a 300mi range, where as the Equinox EV AWD has 285mi range. 2. The Optiq has 300hp total, and the Equinox AWD is 288hp. *Is there a software lock on the Equinox (range and horsepower) to make the Optiq more "premium"?
@danchen6783
@danchen6783 Ай бұрын
They have throttled various iterations of the motors with Ultium. So possible. The range figure could come down to different sized motors. I recall a GM engineer explain that a larger motor has greater regeneration capacity. So maybe they can recapture more on the Optiq? Pure speculation

Good looking EV. Range and price and competitive. I’m curious to see what the $35k version is like. But I think GM will lose buyers without phone integration. I’ve also read elsewhere that GM won’t consider the $7500 tax credit when you lease, only when you buy. Another knock against the Equinox. Hopefully GM will add phone mirroring in the future.

@jimross3
@jimross3 Ай бұрын
At this price, GM, like everyone else, is likely losing money on these cars, lowering prices further isn't the answer here. These cars are available to those who can afford them now. It's these early adopters that eventually drive the prices down for everyone else. This is the same technology curve everything else follows. I don't love the implication current pricing is being done on purpose to exclude people is intentional, nor am I seeing good alternates. It's currently expensive to build, and expensive to buy, period, no conspiracy. Simply, this is what should happen, and costs will come down with time.

Most North Americans would choose the AWD model. If you do the math, Chevy is claiming a empty to full charging rate in 40 minutes or less. 0-100% is 40 minutes or less. Unless their claim of 70 miles in 10 minutes is misleading, or outright lies. You could never find a 0-100 charging test for these Ultium vehicles.
