This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country model. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is in its element in St. John’s, Newfoundland. It’s my first time in Newfoundland, what a beautiful place. We are driving from St. John’s today and heading across Newfoundland
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado has four powertrain options, the base engine is a 2.7L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.
We are driving the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado High Country model with a 6.2L V8 paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission, 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The standard engine for High Country is the 5.3L V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Standard 4WD for this trim.
Another option for 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Silverado, which we are a fan of, is the 3L Duramax turbo diesel with 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. The Silverado has both 2WD and 4WD options available depending on the trim. There are so many powertrains to choose from and different trims for different budgets. If you want something with all the bells and whistles, High Country is a great option, want an off-road adventurer, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 is perfect, but if want something basic on a budget that still gets the job done, Chevrolet has you covered.
This 2024 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck has many variations a regular cab, double cab and crew cab. There’s a standard 6.5 foot-bed, a short 5.6 foot-bed or an 8-foot-long bed depending on the trim. It has a maximum payload capacity of 2,260 pounds.
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3L V8 can tow 11,500 pounds, the 6.2L and Duramax 13,300 pounds and the 2.7L turbo 4-cylinder 9,500 pounds.
In Canada, the WT model starts at $54,031 CAD, Custom $58,431 CAD, LT $60,831 CAD, RST $62,731 CAD, Custom Trail Boss $64,231 CAD, LT Trail Boss $70,231 CAD, LTZ $75,231 CAD, High Country $86,731 CAD, ZR2 $89,731 CAD. Prices include, freight, PDI and fees.
In the US, WT starts at $36,800 USD, Custom $43,600 USD, Custom Trail Boss $51,800 USD, LT $48,000 USD, RST $51,400 USD, LTZ $57,200 USD, LT Trail Boss $58,000 USD, High Country $62,700 USD and ZR2 $69,900 USD.
We have been getting amazing fuel economy, the best numbers so far are 9.1L/100 km, 25.8 MPG.

my current truck is the 2019 High Country 6.2 in Havanna Brown and with 62K on the odometer. Been nearly flawless since new. Only issue - the optional power retractable steps has its own mind on some days despite maintenance attempts. Skip that on the option check list. The sunroof I barely use. The HUD is great though. Overall ride quality is amazing. That new interior is fantastic!! Unfortunately, affordability is no more for many.

Ka-boom! I was lucky enough to visit St. John’s a couple of times on business and really enjoyed it. A very unique city and a great place to visit. I remember many excellent restaurants. Nice to hear reviewers of Chevy products that aren’t always cynical and negative like some of the more savage kool kids sites. You two are the best and always fun to watch. Kudos to Andrea and Dork! 😄

You should do a review on the 3litre diesel, I just got a 24 GMC AT4 standard bed with the diesel engine. The ride is even better with the longer bed slightly longer wheelbase, and the diesel has phenomenal fuel mileage and torque, without the active fuel management problems with the 5.3 and 6.2 litre engines.

The warranty is ridiculously weak considering the cost of these vehicles. It doesn't exactly say that Chevrolet believe in their product. The story about how the Newfoundlanders took in people is incredible, so much respect for them.

I love the truck and love the look of GM's new 1500 series of light duty pickups. But they have had issues with the cylinder deactivaiation system, with pistons and valve assemblies being significantly damaged due to a lack of oil presence and coverage in "resting" engine banks.

Nice video. I personally believe $86k for a new pick-up is.. INSANE. I paid $17k in 2000 for a 1999 Sierra 4x4 that was a dealer demo. Have average salaries increased by 4x's in the last 25yrs?

How about a review of the electric Silverado . Good to hear about the gas mileage on the highway. I completely agree that that trucks have become ridiculously expensive. In my opinion because the majority of them are body on frame older technology they should be less expensive to produce. The profit margin must be the highest of the majority of vehicles sold .

They are great trucks...too bad the have very major engine issues due to their fuel management system. This goes back about ten years! I have had my engine torn down to replace bent push rods...twice! The fuel management system shuts down some of the cylinders, oil drains out if the cylinder, then they are suddenly activated again with no lubrication. Do some Google searches...it is a very serious problem! I had half my cylinder push rods replaced and then I bought an electronic gadget that connects to the OBD port and deactivates the fuel management system. Been okay for almost a year now...crossing my fingers.

My biggest complaint as a Chevrolet owner. The data plans from Onstar are steep ! Canadian owners could $70 CDN for 11GB of data for their truck. US Truck owners pay $25,00 per month for unlimited data. And when you travel CAN to US you can’t opt for unlimited data plan. You are stuck paying the higher prices - which shouldn’t be the case in 2024. Unlimited plans for personal cell phones are $25-$35.00 bucks Love my Silverado but the optional costs for Onstar and data can climb very quickly ! Love the channel !
