In line with tradition, we hosted a Taoist blessing and eye dotting ceremony on Saturday June 15 in preparation for the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival.
Led by the International Taoist Church of Canada, the ceremony was held to cleanse the waters and boats, pray for the safety of races and racers, and summon the spirit of the dragons to the water.
We were honoured to be joined by representatives from the paddling community, Concord Pacific, TD, the Government of British Columbia represented by Minister Brenda Bailey, the City of Vancouver represented by Deputy Mayor Sarah Kirby-Yung, the Vancouver Park Board represented by Commissioner Scott Jensen, the Vancouver School Board represented by Chair Victoria Jung, and other dignitaries.
Now that the ceremony is complete, the Festival site is moving into its full construction. We can't wait to see you this weekend! For more information, visit concorddragonboatfestival.ca.
