I just bought a last call 2023 Challenger Scatpack …the vibrations in my cabin from the 6.4 L V8 and the exhaust sound are unique. Nothing can or will replace the experience of hearing a roaring v8 start in a cold morning! Not even the best “speaker exhaust” sound they are putting in these things…but I might be wrong? But…these look nice! For sure expensive. Would like for these to take off in the market but I’m 100% happy with my NA V8 engine. No regrets!

Agreed, we have a 2023 Dodge Charger RT Scat Pack with the 392 Hemi V8 in it with 485 HP and 475 Ibs of torque and let me tell you its a freakn beast.

The new sound will likely not impress you. With any of these "muscle car EVs," the target audience is those that want maximum straight line performance. If you care more about the sound quality, then you're not really the target audience they're trying to sell to.

Also just picked up a Challenger Scatpack. The sound of that NA 392 is glorious. I deleted the mufflers and it sounds like a symphony of chaos now. I can't lie, I love the style of the EV Charger, but I'll keep my Challenger forever. It's gonna be a classic again like the 1970's era Challengers and Chargers.

@durwoodrobison7800 5 ай бұрын
@@appleiphone69 it depends on several conditions. While the majority of my week is less than 100 miles total, I do like to travel on weekends and the nearest major metropolitan area to me is 150 miles away. That's the vast majority of the range on these cars, and doesn't leave a lot of room for driving around town. I also do enjoy a road trip now and then, and have driven cross country several times. While there are many Tesla branded chargers nationwide, you have to plan a trip around them, and any independently owned chargers are usually in various states of repair. Add to it the amount of time involved to charge a car, vs filling a gas tank, it doesn't appeal to me at this stage in their development. Either get charging times down, and well maintained, consistently fast charging points on the same level of availability as gas stations are now, or work on something with a hydrogen fuel cell (which has it's own infrrastructure limitations as well, I do understand that will need taken care of too). Like I said, I'm not anti-Electric. I'm not happy with the current battery types due to the way they're produced, the current charging infrastructure leaves a lot to be desired, as well as the length of time to charge. Makes anything but around town driving/charging at home a bothersome issue for me.
@durwoodrobison7800
@durwoodrobison7800 5 ай бұрын
@@hunterdonnelly7422 I agree the government should not fool with the free market. However, I see some serious performance boosts that an electric car with instant torque can provide. But, the excessive weight, charging times, range, etc all factor in to make it unsuitable for me at the current level of development.
@kevinnorris6558
@kevinnorris6558 5 ай бұрын
@@appleiphone69Well, yeah. I live in NYC where many people live in apartments and therefore have to park on the street as they don't own a driveway/garage. Every electric car owner I know (which isn't many) has their own house to charge their car. Understandbly, people who have to rely on street parking are not going to be into electric cars and the inconveniences that come with it. Until EV charging times can compete with refueling times, I don't see EV's ever becoming super popular in congested cities like NYC/Boston/Philadelphia anytime soon.

@tomconway6808
@tomconway6808 5 ай бұрын
That's theoretical range. Typically with EVs they tell you not to go below 20% state of charge. Charging an EV usually goes pretty quickly up to about 80%. Going from 20% to 80% takes maybe 20 minutes on a 150kW charger. After 80% charging speed slows down dramatically. So a lot of people live in that 20% to 80% state of charge range, which means you really only get to use about 60% of your battery capacity. That means you would be at about 190 miles most of the time. I'll be interested in seeing reports from real users.

They’ll still always be on market and something tells me most of yall that are trashing Dodge don’t even own one… Face it gents, the near future for performance cars will be electric. Everybody trying to be so hard and cool in the comments being a EV hater, like whatever dude. I get the frustration but chill, EV takes huge character out the cars I know but Dodge is trying to still make it look like a classic while still making the car fast and fun for an affordable price. I can’t say I love it but I can’t say I hate it either

The more I see them and seeing people’s reaction to the Tesla truck. I think these will sell ok, yes EV demand is down but there’s also quite a few people who want something exciting from EVs. And they may not be the fastest but these Chargers definitely look the coolest outside of EV sport and super cars out there.

I don't see this car doing well for Dodge, and i fully expect some serious changes following the second year of production. EV sales are down, and continue to fall. The market is making it very clear that ICE is the future if any of these companies want to stay in business. The ICE version will sell, especially with the HO Hurricane. It's a shame that they focused the branding on the electric versions and is treating the 550HP ICE versions like a base trim rental car. Dodge is gonna learn something from this 😅
@NYWF

Interesting fact to think about is that the heaviest American-produced automobile of the post World War II era is the 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V Convertible which weighed 5,712 lbs, making it nearly 200 lbs lighter than this new Charger Daytona EV, which weighs in at nearly 5900 lbs! Looks like Stellantis has created a new record holder! I really like the design of the two door model, and the four door isn't bad either. At least Stellantis didn't place all their eggs in one basket by making the Charger strictly as an EV. If the market ends up totally collapsing for EV sales and the manufacturers stick to ICE production, then they will already have the Charger available as an ICE model beginning in early 2025. It may not be the legendary hemi, but even as an inline six cylinder, it will still be gasoline powered. The only major criticism I have is that the new Dodge logo reminds me of a cross between Mitsubishi's logo and the Klingon insignia from Star Trek. I hope GM is taking notes on this when they plan their future muscle car for Chevrolet, whatever it may be.

I feel like there's more strategy going on here than most people think. It's strange that Dodge is basically combining the Charger/Challenger into several options for 1 car. I personally think they're doing this to save the real Challenger for later. Like after they sell enough EVs, they'll have the ability to bring the V8 back. At least that's what I was told at a dealership. Ford is able to produce their V8 Mustang because they sell enough EVs, Dodge doesn't really have any yet.
