While I think he will get a certain sympathy bounce, it isn't something that usually lasts. I won't focus in to the polls till a week after the Conventions are over with. I'm a Trump guy and the trouble with these posts are people will think it is in the bag and they will relax when it is time to work harder than ever. Complacency will not only make it harder for Trump but also our goals of increasing our seats in the Senate and the House. One of my favorite politicians used to tell me: Pray as if it is up to God, work as if it is up to me!

Remember, Washington, Oregon, and California have popular vote elector triggers now, which were legislated in 2017. SO, if Trump wins the national popular vote, those triggers will be tripped and those states will turn red. I still haven't seen anyone actually discussing this, but it could make the map look really funny.

yeah but, California for example. they only have 5+ million registered republicans and like 2 million independents that always lean blue. they redrew the district lines 4 times in the last decade reducing them to only 4 districts while adding multiple districts to heavily blue area's. this modern day redlining to the core. almost 47% registered are democrats, 23% are republicans, and only 4% of independents usually vote republican in that state. so the independents voting blue usually keep them up around 60+% depending on turnouts. Last election Biden won california with 63% over 10 million votes.

Trump would have to be at least 15% ahead of Biden in AZ and WI. Those states are too "fortified". Assuming Trump wins back GA, he really needs to focus on PA or MI. I watch a great many of these electoral college projection videos, and the thing that I find very encouraging is that, while Donald Trump is predicted to flip several key states from 2020, I have not seen anyone predict for stupid Joe Biden to flip EVEN ONE state from Trump's 2020 column. If it wasnt for the main cities, Washington state would be red. About 75% of the people I talk to are voting Trump. The further away from Seattle I get, the more Trump signs I see too.

I have a question about the polls and how people interpet their results. If the difference in the percentage of people who say they would vote for Biden versus Trump (or Trump versus Biden) falls within a poll's margin of error, wouldn't that be a statistical tie? The assumption that pollsters make about their sample of respondents is that the probability of either candidate being chosen by them is 50% - not because the actual probabilities are Trump 50% and Biden 50% but because the margin of error is at its maxmimum when the probabilties are equal. It's like shooting an arrow at a target and missing the bullseye by 2 inches. If you shoot the same arrow again and it still misses the bullseye, at least you'll know it won't be off by more than 2 inches. Let's say an NPR Poll for Virginia shows Biden leading Trump by 2 points and the poll's margin of error is +/- 3 points: doesn't it mean that if the same poll was given again exactly as before, the result might now be Trump up by 2 points over Biden? If this situation was true for other polls, then would saying that Biden is "leading" Trump by a certain number of points make people think that Biden is actually ahead of Trump by that amount? Which brings me to a follow-up question: Do you adjust these probabilities in your subsequent polls based on your prior polls rather than using the same 50-50 probabilities? We really appreciate the work that you're doing and your projections have been nothing short of amazing!

Native Hispanic New Mexican here from the southeast part of the state (oil/ranching/farming country). There is virtually zero Biden support, whether Hispanic, white, black or other. Trump signs, posters, stickers on truck windows, it's everywhere and he's like a cultural icon down here.

Especially Florida where DeSantis won by 19% and Rubio 15% in 2022. And their polls just before that election were just 5-6%, making it a 10-14% margin error favoring DeSantis and Rubio. Trump will win in double figures for sure!

@Svíþjóð I doubt it, polls have shown RFK Jr's popularity rising in both camps, especially with conservatives who agree with much of his political agenda. Professionals agree that he'll pull some votes from Trump, the question is how many and will it make a difference in the end? We haven't had this strong of a third-party candidate in a while, especially one with the name and recognition that Kennedy has.
