Swamy backed Modi like anything pre 2014 elections. Reason being, He was expecting a Finance ministry portfolio, did not get it. Worst for Swami was, the portfolio was given to Arun Jaitley, whom Swamy disliked very much. Since then he started campaigning against Modi. Best is, Modi and Shah ignored Swami brilliantly.

Swamy can never be accused of loyalty. Jan Sangh made him a Rajya Sabha member when he was in his early thirties. He was not loyal to the party. He used to start nasty rumours about Mr.Vajpayee. The pseudo-identity politics: A specific type of national identity, often temporary, can be regarded as a way to overcome negative circumstances in which he or she has to exist. I was once a big fan of Dr.Swamy. But after his views on Modi and BJP changed my perception of him. He wanted to be a finance minister in Modi's cabinet and ever since became critical of BJP and Modi.

But in West Bengal, Karnataka, Keral etc states, ruling party workers have beaten several times to the supporters of bjp... Especially in West Bengal ... There are 100s of BJP workers who not just got injured but lost their life...!!! All I am saying is that if a powerful leader comes for betterment, then it's good...
