If you don't realise the damage that illegal immigration is doing to this country, I can't take anything you say seriously. We literally have no country if illegal immigration is not curtailed. We benefit NOTHING from illegal immigration and it is a net drag on our country. Rampant illegal immigration, in and of itself, is a key indicator of a broken country with faulty systems and processes. Ineffective systems create an environment for lawlessness to thrive and our biggest problem in South Africa is crime, which includes corruption and illegal immigration. It is a never-ending loop. If people can slip in and out of your country as they please, it also means illicit goods are entering and revenue is exiting the country just as easily. Illegal immigration also hinders progress. Only someone with a severe lack in analytical and critical thinking skills would not understand this. You cannot build on a faulty foundation of chaos because whatever you build will soon collapse. Illegal immigration is dragging down the country at an unprecedented rate and reversing any progress we try to make by consistently putting undue strain on our systems and rendering them ineffective. Whenever we fix something, it quickly breaks because supply is limited but demand is limitless and uncontrolled. A myriad of problems can be resolved and reduced by dealing decicively with illegal immigration and porous borders, including: • basic human rights violations • unfair labour practices • homelessness, loitering, panhandling, hawking and vagrancy • human trafficking • drug trafficking and trade • illicit goods trafficking and trade • youth unemployment • low and unskilled labour unemployment • stagnant wage growth due to high labour supply for certain jobs • poor access to basic services - water & electricity • poor access to affordable housing • excessive demand on public healthcare • excessive demand on public schooling • overloading, deterioration and vandalism of infrastructure, which attracts and enables crime • petty crime • organised crime • illegal mining • kidnapping • building hijacking and squatting • fraud and scamming • entry of illicit and counterfeit goods • money laundering and loss of revenue through undisclosed and untaxed income being repatriated • corruption and bribing of public officials • illegal spaza shops selling inferior goods in unsanitary conditions (townships are overrun with such spazas, often with multiple spazas in one street alone) • increasing tensions between locals and foreign nationals EVERYTHING an undocumented person does in your country involves crime and corruption to varying degrees. That is just a fact. It is hard to convince locals to follow the law when foreigners get to do as they please without being held accountable and being allowed to thrive by officials who turn a blind eye while NGO's excuse their behaviour and exploit legal loopholes to enable them further. We need a clean slate from which we can start to develop, build and grow. Mass deportation of illegal immigrants and getting better control of our borders will provide that clean slate.
