But why are people sensitive to being tribalists? I think being a tribalist is a choice and not a sin. Although narrow focused, it is a choice. I say narrow focused with respect and not in a demeaning manner. That is because one focus mainly on their tribe and other tribes come after. Now the ANC focuses broadly to all who live in the country. Individuals may act otherwise, but the constitution of the ANC includes all tribes and races. The focus on the blacks at the moment is in order to bring those who were oppressed by apartheid to a similar level to those who were advantaged by it.

What you are suggesting is too reductionistic and simple of a complex situation. You have not taken several factors that influenced all this. Ramaphosa was able to win Limpopo not because of tribalism but because of pre-existing commitment to the ANC hence he won the other provinces. If his winning was about tribalism, he would have only won "Limpopo", but he was able to win in non-Venda provinces, how do you explain that? Zuma only wins in Zulu provinces only but not in none Zulu places; this is tribalism
