@@amnaanwar1019 Media: - role of media is exaggerated: compare with policy, leadership, and social factors - evaluate the view media has little impact: types of media in themes, influencing election, gov to account, voting behaviour in between elections - ITV reporting of Post office scandal forced politicians to address it: Post Office Horizon scandal received a lot of public attention in 2024 and shows the role of media in influencing public opinion and holding politicians to account Electoral systems: - FPTP: types of gov created - coalitions vs single, representation and proportionality, voter choice but tactical and wasted votes, and marginal seats/safe seats - Breakdown of Scottish gov in April 2024: Greens and SNP coalition after abandoning climate change targets, greens did no confidence vote and Yousaf resigned, shows a key disadvantage of AMS as it leads to coalitions and minority governments which are weak and unstable and shows clear partisanship between parties in Scotland like UK parliament.

Just sat politics exam. Your predictions were very accurate. The source questions was on the development of political parties and referendums. Essay questions were on think tanks, lobbying, pressure groups and the other option was related to voting behaviour. Ideologies was liberalism and conservatism.

Based on my theory, there is a pattern for ideologies. If you look at the past papers they put one ideology two years in a row. For example, In 2019, there was Conservatism & Socialism, in 2020 there was Liberalism and socialism. However, in 2021, there was Conservatism & Liberalism and in 2022 Conservatism & Socialism. In 2023, there was no conservatism . So technically, it makes sense to see Conservatism on this year's paper bc we haven't seen it since 2022. You should obviously revise all ideologies in case they put two questions of the same one. Regardless of these predictions, I wish everyone the best of luck, let's hope for the best.

@@Dylan-lh9gx they warned us from Pearson this year but idk if they’re actually going to do it. For the ideologies now it’s most likely to be conservatism although nothing can be predicted for sure. It makes sense to see conservatism this year though bc the ‘pattern’ is reasonable. Personally, I can answer questions in all 3 ideologies but I’ve been focusing on conservatism a lot lately just in case.

You should. In each you should make a clear argument about which side of the argument was more persuasive and justify why. This should be consistent with your overall argument in the essay introduced in the introduction and set out in the conclusion

I was also wondering do you have any advice for ideology questions if they come up about a certain topic (such as Paternalism in Conservatism) how do you ensure to compare strands with certain topics when it is a topic itself. (unlike comparing human nature or society where you can use the idea of paternalism as one of paragraphs as so is easier to compare.)

You can compare for different aspects of paternalism they agree/disagree on. I.e. they agree that the state should provide order and security, but they disagree on whether the state should act paternalistically in the economy and disagree about the need for paternalism to guide human nature

That's not true at all!!! They changed the spec to focus on how leaving the EU impacted parliamentary sovereignty and could definitely ask about it!!!

Hi Olly, Paper 2 questions tend to say that we have to include some sort of knowledge from Paper 1. How many marks are at stake if someone doesn't do this and do you have any suggestions on how to do this effectively?

You can't get an A*/high A without doing synoptic links. It depends on the question, but to be safe it's worth trying to do it at least twice in the essay
