Love your unboxing!! The vendor prices include their shipping and then the markup. I buy my main order for the year directly from Hobonichi not just for the cost, but I absolutely love the freebies every year.

I'm not suprised that buying from the Hobonichi store was cheaper! You cut out the middle man and since these planners aren't mainstream in the west, they probably don't get a bulk discount, or at least not a lot. So sellers add a little on the price to make some profit. It's only cheaper to buy from other sellers in your country when they can buy with discount! It's always good to check these things and compare to get the best price. : ) Also, I got myself this years Mother design weeks (it's so cute!!), the Techo Cousin with that cute Panda cover and a Tomitaro Makino notebook. It has a ton of pages and I'm thinking about maybe using it for my japanese studies. Already started writing down some birthdays and important dates. Sooo excited to start using these planners!!

A little is an understatement. It’s almost double! If you plan on buying 2 items, buying direct is best.

I love to witness your hobonichi journey. I have been using hobonichi since 2018 and I always watched your planning videos. Now its really great because I get a second wave of inspiration to use my hobonichis and steal some of your ideas hahaha This year I decided to get 3 hobonichis, a A6 for fitness, and 2 A5's one for journaling and one ofr planning. This year I only got 1 hobonichi and realised I need 2, now I look back in the year and I cant review my fitness journey because I did not dedicated one single book to it, which made me kinda sad =/

It was made to be placed underneath the page you are going to write on, but using it to avoid sweating the paper on the page on the side, I also found it very interesting. I'm loving seeing how people use calendars in different ways than we do here

It is the Ané case that can fit the Nintendo Switch, not the small drawer pouch. I have one with my switch in it, the My Manga and Me case. I do not know if it is still in their line up. I am considering the otter case you have and some others. Maybe a large drawer pouch for my new Hon or a different cover for it. Yeah they say it does not need a cover, but I love the cat and me cover with he seafoam green, and i so worry about it getting dirty. That pencil board, I lost mine a few months ago, and I was heart broken. I was so glad they still were selling it, that I replaced it this year. I am using the tiny free bag with a lot of little accessories that get spread out on my desk. Also I clip the Hobonichi Uni-Jetstream pens from the previous years. I missed out on pens until the 2021 release, so I really wanted some of the other colors. I am autistic collector. Some people are taking some thin paper board, and making the bag sturdier and using it as a pen cup. Yes, do a pen pouch review, I would love to see the Superior Labor bag.

Thanks for sharing your haul! I totally missed the otter pouch when I was browsing, so this video let me enjoy the pouch vicariously 😆I also got the blue onigiri freebie bag! It's the one I wanted the most too. I'm not completely certain what I'll use it for though.

That otter pouch is the cutest! I looked at getting an A5 HON from Jetpens, but even being in the US it's cheaper or comparable to get it from Hobonichi. I'm thinking of getting some other sizes this year too and even with paying shipping twice it's still worth it to order from them again

Hi Kaitlin! Loved watching your unboxing and especially I like your drawer pouch. Doesn’t the drawer pouch look nicer in person? My order is very similar to yours. As you know, I got the A5 HON in black gingham then I got the black small drawer pouch, black pocket drawer pouch, and A5 memo books. I didn’t get a pencil board because the HON came with one and I already have one too. I just love all my things and especially surprised by the quality of the drawer pouches. The ordering process was easy for me as well and it took 6 days from when I got the email that my order was shipped. Also, everything was cheaper too for me and maybe even more so due to US currency. My shipping, for the one box, like you, was only $35 USD. I agree it is definitely worth it to order directly from Hobonichi if you want more than one item. I have to admit that I’ve been so tempted by a few Weeks covers, especially the leather Olive and then the new A6 HONs coming out in November. However, the cousin really works for me as a “life book” and if I order one of those I would have to come up with a use for them. I just don’t really want to navigate multiple books at this season of my life.

30:00 those are the tables for converting between Japanese calendar years and the Christian calendar years. it also shows the age relative to 1st January 2024. it also shows the Chinese animal for your birth year.

From what I have seen re; being Canadian (lol) I think that most of the duty/fees are on either, if you buy leather items, or the paper. Most covers don't seem to be marked up that much compared to Hobonichi's site (give or take a few dollars to cover their shipping and slim profit margin) but the planners - woooooow it's like 50%+ increase. So I think that's where most of the import charges come from.

I was thinking the same thing. Plus, I feel that the new Sanzen paper is a bit sturdier. I have some notebooks with it and the bottom corners don’t curl up like they do in my current cousin. Personally, I like the new paper.

The page with the years has to do with one’s birth year in relation to the reign of Japanese Emperors. (Imperfect explanation!) I’m hoping they change the colors of the notebook covers when they switch over to the new paper 🤷🏼‍♀️ TFS 📚

I know you mentioned liking the japanese version, but why not get the new english version that's the exact same layout as the japanese? ☺ They released the original in an english version this year!

Bc I’m picky and I don’t like the way they use the month abbreviations in the English (I prefer the numbers in the Japanese)!
