The SUV version has a usable pack of around 205kw (the pickup is 212kw I believe). Electrify America is around 35 cents a kw so that would be $71.75 to “fill up” from 0 to 100 which you will rarely do. Home charging at 13 cents a kw would be $26.65 - 0 to 100. Again you will rarely if ever do. Home charging is where it’s at.

Thanks for the info! I just downloaded the app for Electrify America and all chargers in my area are at 48 cents which I think it varies by state which at 205 KWH it would bring us closer to $100 to fill up which for the size of this vehicle is not surprising or particularly bad if it can go 300 miles. For the sake of comparison gas here is 3.70 per gallon so $100 would buy 27 gallons. and if you can do 300 miles out of it its like doing 11mpg. At least moneywise. It would be significantly cheaper at home of course but it would take forever or cost a lot to install fast charger.

@@MattTheCarguy Oh wow! That does sound high. If you were to get the membership does it drop it down to 31 cents a kw in your area too or is it higher still? Yes, honestly it’s not a super efficient vehicle even for being an EV, but I guess that is similar to its old gas counterpart. For home charging I have a wall unit that was about $560 and the installation was $250. But I imagine that would also vary from place to place. That would take about 11 hours to charge from 0 to 100. In my case my car only has an 82 kWh pack and I only use about 10% a day and charge to 70%. It basically charges in an hour and a half. On a wall outlet though when I’ve stayed at family/friends houses it definitely takes hours. I can’t even imagine the Hummer on a wall outlet. Probably a week or so? Thanks for replying! I love all the math and science behind EVs. I can’t wait to see what the technology will be like in 40-50 years!

@@adalinelathrop5129 haha in 40-50 years we may some kind of other propulsion technology. EVs are cool but i dont think they are solution to climate crisis unless we can harness the energy by using build in solar panels or wind turbines or regenerative energy that goes back to batteries. In your case it seems like ev makes a lot of sense with a small battery and using about 10% daily. In my regular job I drive about 50k a year in many instances more than 300 miles at a time so EV would make no sense whatsoever.

For a suv that size I would expect more cabin space for passengers in the back … you’d get more space in a traditional pickup truck I feel

Ford, Stellantis, Toyota, Tesla, nor Hyundai can compete with this thing. Where are their direct competitors? They’ve had all of this time to at least reveal something. GMC has these folks scratching their heads! I’m just really impressed with the execution of the design before we even get into what it can do. *gm* take your foot off them people neck! 😂

Hummer has always been very unique and never really had any direct competition even in the combustion engine days. One can argue that Rivian is the closest but I have not driven one yet, and it looks more like a well behaved suv than this. Interesting fact is that Mercedes will soon release an electric G Wagon which would interesting to see at probably twice the price tag. Also RAM has a very unique BEV pick up coming for 2025. Lots of new vehicles will be released in the next year or so.

Electric G wagon twice the price of the Hummer EV???? The gas powered AMG G wagon is already MORE than twice the price of it. The G wagon EV will probably more like 4 times the price of that raggedy Hummer EV.

I don't think that they are going after Tesla. And they did not even have any in Q2. Maybe at the very end. Tesla has the EV market no question about it even though there is absolutely nothing special about their cars.

Dude just said if the torque is measured at the crank onan electric vehicle with no crank. What a tool.
@MattTheCarguy
@MattTheCarguy 7 ай бұрын
You are a tool! I said it as comparison to a regular ICE engine when torque is measured at the crank and in this case it is a total combined torque at the wheels which is most likely multipled by gear ratio(s). As comparison Chevy Silverado 3500HD's 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V-8 engine makes 910 lb-ft at the crank, but multiplying that number by its first-gear and final-drive ratios results in an insane 14,129 lb-ft. Technicaly they are right but not when you use standardized measurement method. They should say that torque is equivalent to...
