I have the summit reserve v8 . I first purchased the v6 and after a 3,000 mile road trip I called the dealer with displeasure about the sluggish power for the size of car and custom ordered the correct engine . I love it now

@@MattTheCarguydefinitely go with the V8. We test drove the six cylinder and it’s underwhelming at best. Plus the start stop is annoying. This feature is eliminated thankfully on the V8 and it’s the version we own. Love the summit reserve trim. Bought a used 2023 with 3900 miles and it’s been terrific after coming from a BMW M50i.

@@jb.2986 The 2 row Summit Resrve does not have the V8 option sadly. V8 can only be ordered for GC L. The V6 0-60 is like 7.8 sec, my new V6 was like 10.5 Sec! They say check after initial 1,000 miles. Waiting for possible Hurricane engine in future to trade in..

Great review.... Deserves lot more views than it has. I am considering this as my next buy. We are a family of 4 and need this for our daily drive with occasional camping needs. Don't need much towing, so you think v6 would be a good option?

Thank you for watching. To me V6 has substantial power but I have only driven it for a short time ( although my Wrangler has the same engine) if you scroll through the comments though, most will agree that V8 may be better.

@rajivsharma2785 - I've a 21 Summit Reserve and have had no.issues in the last 2+ yrs...We've done some long trips from Canada to US (about 4K kms) but didn't feel underpowered...Its a family vehicle and not meant for race tracks! So if you drive leisurely, it's enjoyable..Yes I've never towed so can't speak on how that V6 will perform...

Hi Matt. Good review, tour and drive video for the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Summit Reserve trim. I have the same vehicle. Sane trim level. Same interior style. Only differences are, mine is the 2023 model year, mine came in the Diamond Black Crystal Pearl color (I actually wanted the Midnight Sky Blue color, but the dealership and neighboring dealerships didn't have it) and mine has the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine. Very good vehicle. Generally speaking, this vehicle at least from the Limited trim and above will give competitive vehicles like the Lexus TX, Acura MDX, and Infiniti QX60 a run for their money. The Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve trims will definitely do that for sure. Switching from miles per hour to kilometers per hour and vice versa is easy. On the main instrument cluster screen just press the "ok" button once to switch. With the Summit Reserve trim all the bells and whistles are there. Nice comfortable feeling and nice comfortable drive. The Summit Reserve trim has three features that are MIA from the luxury competitor vehicles I mentioned earlier and MIA from other luxury brands. The front passenger infotainment screen, interior camera, air suspension and night vision camera are missing from those vehicles. Before I got my vehicle I test drove it three times. My first test drive was in July of 2021 when this new generation got released. That was in the Limited trim. Second test drive also in 2021 was in the Overland trim. Both of those had the Pentastar V6 engine. However, my third test drive was in January of 2022 and that Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Overland trim had the V8 engine. Very good performing engine. Basically a night and day difference when compared with the V6 engine. Overland trim and above will have the optional V8 engine. The Lexus TX replaces the third row seating Lexus RX 350L. The RX with the usual two rows of seats still stands. That one wont get replaced. Lexus came out with the TX to replace the third row seating RX 350L because the RX 350L according to their words "wasn't roomy enough." In comparison between the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the high trim Summit Reserve and the high trim Lexus TX 550H+, I would choose the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Based on the price points for the Lexus TX, Lexus should've at least included massaging front seats and the air suspension system from the middle trim level as well as above that. The high trim level TX 550H+ doesn't even come with a panoramic roof. The lower trim level has it, but not this trim. With the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the high trim level Summit Reserve, buyers will get more features for the money spent. When you get the chance test drive the big luxury brother Jeep Grand Wagoneer. It has sequential turn signals, arm rest console with a freezer, power reclining third row seats and a 23 speaker audio system. You'll like it. Jeep brought back the Grand Wagoneer to compete with the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. Primarily aimed for the Escalade. Try it out when you get the chance.

Thanks for your input. Very nice vehicle indeed with tons of features. And like most viewers you confirmed that V8 males night and day difference. Pentastar is ok but feels a bot underpowered. As far as Wagoneer and Grand Wagonner I have driven both when they first came out. Impressive, however i cant get over the design. Something about the rear side window doesnt lool right to me. But everyone is different. I am due to go back and test drive the new ones with the Hurricane inline 6. Will post as soon as its done.

Nice write up. I have a 2016 Summit in the Diamond Black and have really liked it. Am now looking at upgrading to a 2024 Summit Reserve and like you have been eyeing one that is Midnight Sky Blue ( Not that I haven’t liked my Black, but last two vehicles have been Black and thought I’d change up a bit and like the New Midnight Sky color also). I could probably just do the regular cab instead of the L, but unfortunately they only offer the High Altitude/Blacked out package in the L, which I do want. Oh well would give me a bit more space I guess..

@maddog1040 I got the third row seating Jeep Grand Cherokee L and not the two row version Grand Cherokee because I wanted something different. Before I got this vehicle, my daily driver which I still have is the third generation 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. So, it wouldn't make any sense for me to get a new vehicle that also has two rows of seats. Getting the third row seating "L" version makes more sense. Also, shortly before the third generation Jeep Grand Cherokee which I still have got released years back, it was rumored to come with third row seating. However, as we all know afterwards, that never came to fruition. The same can be said for the outgoing fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. Jeep hit a Grand Slam homerun when they finally put third row seating for the fifth generation. The wait was worth it because mid-size third row seating SUVs that came out between 2004 up to maybe 2018, 2019 or 2020 had the third row seating area for kids based on the space. An adult could not sit back there for those. However, with the third row seating Jeep Grand Cherokee L, an adult can sit in the third seating area. Even someone that's six feet tall can still sit back there. Another reason to get the Jeep Grand Cherokee L is because it looks a little more appealing than the two row version. Also, while driving the Jeep Grand Cherokee L, it doesn't feel like a third row seating vehicle. It doesn't feel like a big vehicle you're driving. That's because Jeep did a great job with the overall weight distribution of the vehicle. When you get the chance test drive one.

They didn't check the most important box on this one... the sweet 5.7L Hemi V8. We bought a '23 GC-L Overland off the lot with the 5.7 V8. Test drove both the V6 and V8, and the V8 was much smoother and fit the size of the vehicle. We're getting the top wrapped in metallic black to contrast with the white paint.

I also have a 2023 model year Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Mine is in the Summit Reserve trim like what's shown in this video. That's good you got your Overland trim nicely equipped with the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine. That's what I did when I got mine. Back in July of this past year 2023 I got mine. At the time, when I went to the dealership, I stood firm on solid ground that the V8 engine is what I want. The dealership didn't have any with the V8 engine, so they had to do a dealership transfer from another dealership and that's how I was able to get mine with the V8 engine I wanted. Based on the Summit Reserve trim I got, it would not make sense to me to get the V6 engine. From my view, if a car enthusiast gets a high trim level vehicle, they might as well get the high performing engine to match things up. When Jeep released this new fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L in July of 2021, that was when I did my first test drive for it. Overall, I did three test drives for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. My second test drive was couple months later in the same year. Limited trim and then Overland trim. Both of those test drives had the V6 engine. However, my third test drive was January of 2022. It was in the Overland trim with the V8 engine. Good performing engine. It'll go from 0 to 60mph in just 6.2 seconds. Brake torquing the engine or putting it in Sport Mode at acceleration will have the the 0 to 60mph at a quicker time. This engine is a night and day difference when compared to the V6 engine. Based on the six main trim levels for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L, the Overland trim and above will give competitive luxury vehicles a run for their money. Summit and Summit Reserve trims will definitely do that. When you get the chance watch a review video for the Lexus TX. While watching videos for that vehicle, you'll notice that Lexus copied few things from the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. For instance on the instrument cluster screen, Lexus made the gas gauge and temperature gauge in horizontal bar graph form. Lexus put grab handles for entering the third row. They also put secondary power folding third row seat buttons on both wheel wells. When you watch any of the videos you'll see what I mean. The color for my Jeep is the Diamond Black Crystal Pearl. I initially wanted it in the Midnight Sky Blue color, but the dealership didn't have it and neighboring dealerships didn't have it either based on the engine choice I wanted. The interior for my Jeep is the same like the one shown in this video. How much did the dealership charge to get yours in the paint color you wanted? I just want to get a general idea because I want to get the blue color I wanted initially. In general the Summit Reserve trim comes standard with a two tone exterior look. So, if I get mine in the blue I wanted the roof and A pillars would be the only thing in black. The rest of the vehicle would be in the Midnight Sky Blue color. Let me know how much the paint job was for your vehicle.
