2024 Kayo Jackal 200 Test Review. Dirt Wheels Magazine turned us on to the Kayo Jackal 200 a while back. A proper little sport ATV, they praised its performance and overall construction. That got us excited about the brands potential and just how fun the little Jackal 200 might be. So for all of us interested in discovering the next big thing in little sport ATVs, we present to you ATV on Demand’s test of the Kayo Jackal 200.
While not quite the replacement for the 300EX or Raptor 250 many are dreaming of, It’s easily managed engine and stable handling will make learning easy for beginners with enough performance that experienced riders can have fun ripping around on the Jackal. We think it’s safe to say that the Kayo Jackal 200 is the best sport ATV on the market at or below 200cc. Based on our experience, we hope the Jackal 200 it’s a step toward bigger sport ATVs to come from Kayo!

Wow, okay, I wasn't expecting much going into this. Kayo looked like it was going to be another run of the mill knock-off sport quad. But that was actually pretty impressive. You guys are right, they can pretty much own the entry level if they keep it up. Also kudos for going over the frame and weld quality.

We did not know what to expect going into this either. Definitely better than we thought. It would be and really leaves us wanting to try their A300! Fortunately , we think they are starting to see that they have a chance to gain market share with sport quads. Fingers crossed!

My buddy Jeff at Dirt Wheels has a friend with one of his young test riders who has a slightly modified Kayo 70. Jeff tells me that that kid rips that little ATV and it is holding up fine. So far so good with the little 200. We're most likely not done with it. We're going to tay and get a few hop-ups developed for it if we can.

@@ATVonDemand agreed! But for the price id rather buy an older bike in general and have free range on parts to customize it. A Yamaha blaster, or even a warrior would be solid as an entry platform. Plenty of parts to choose from as skills develop, and shops can work on em. If a bike is being imported and sold at a dealership, that mark up is going to make that bike closer to the TRX's 250X.

So aside from price and any possible reliability concerns, how does this compare to the Honda TRX250X in terms of just being fun to ride on a trail?
@ATVonDemand
@ATVonDemand 7 ай бұрын
It's been a while since we've ridden the Honda. But if memory serves correctly we'd say it's in the ballpark. The honda feels a little more refined but that's expected. With a little help from the after market the Kayo might spank it. We would need to do a shootout to say for sure. Dirt Wheels did one a few years back you might want to look up.

Fun research into shaft drive, I've never seen anything that actually proves shaft consumes that much more power then Chain, in touring motorcycles they assume it does, but nobody has ever actually dyno tested the same motor on shaft\chain, people assume squishing oil out of the way in differentials consumer power, but nobody actually knows if that's true or not as far as I can find. Neat little sport atv
@ATVonDemand
@ATVonDemand 7 ай бұрын
The rotating mass of a shaft drive taxes horsepower. So does running heavy wheels, so does running heavy tires. The other drawback is that you cannot change the gearing if you change tire size. We are not against shaft drive but chain drive has its advantages.
@Kingsoupturbo
@Kingsoupturbo 7 ай бұрын
@@ATVonDemand No doubt running heavy and taller tires has performance disadvantages, and on a sport ATV, chain makes sense (chain growth aside) Check it out though, its assumed on touring bikes (goldwing etc.) that shaft drive consumes 25% of power, and chain like 10%, but nobody has ever really tested this, or can really confirm it. I had an Arctic cat 500 with a wonky sliding front driveshaft that was a problem, and seen exploded drive chains that ripped cases open too (I have a Triple-chain drive Polaris 400L) nice to change gearing though and simplicity of chain.

Any plans to mod this Kayo? Would love to see what it would do with a different carburetor, air box mod, exhaust and suspension. Maybe lighten it up a bit by replacing steel with aluminum (handlebars, nerf bars, etc) and plastic (gas tank)? See if a little modification could get it close to a raptor 250.
@ATVonDemand
@ATVonDemand 5 ай бұрын
Absolutely! Since releasing this test a number of aftermarket companies have started developing parts for it. We will be rounding all of them up and installing them on this machine for a test.

@ATVonDemand
@ATVonDemand 5 ай бұрын
@@chadminor2360 Companies are working on an exhaust, Jetting and possibly intake, skid plates and possibly alloy nerf bars, budget quality after market shocks with the possibility to have high end race shocks built. We will also be checking to see if we can get some light weight aftermarket. Alloy wheels that fit along with some light weight after market tires. We will be doing some checking on sprocket fitment as well to see if there is anything on the market that will bolt up. There are five or six aftermarket companies getting after it right now. It will be a couple months until we start seeing parts roll in. I am sure we will be throwing some photos up on instagram as parts become available.

Picked one of these up brand new from a dealership near me today for my girlfriend to be able to ride around with me having some idle issues tho it wouldn’t stay running at all at first I’ve messed with the idle screw to where it will idle fine at half choke but you have to give it gas to keep it running with choke completely off. Any ideas?
@ATVonDemand

I have to say that our unit is pretty cold hearted. It takes a good 5 to 7 minutes to warm up and idle Off choke. Honestly, if you just bought it, I would take it to the dealer and tell them to tune the carb.

I don't understand why CF Moto does not provide a small sport atv. I guess the market is too small. That 200cc looks like an old honda motorcycle engine (and probably is) i'm surprised it ran so well with a carburetor with today's emission. Most chineese carbureted engines runs like crap because they're too darn lean.

It seems like CF Moto Is chasing bigger ATVs and side by side like all the rest. We are told this engine is based on the CRF230 But we can't verify that yet so we didn't mention it. Have to say it ran pretty well. Stalling was not an issue.
