The 2024 Kia EV9 is brand new to the market, with the most cheapest price tag of any three-row family EV (electric vehicle) with an actual usable third row. The EV9 is built on an 800V architecture, with an 99.8 kWh battery or a 76.1 kWh battery, depending on trim. The GT-Line gets the bigger battery. It is capable of charging from 10-80% in 24 minutes on a 350 kW DC fast charger. And it makes 379-hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The bottom trims are offered in single-motor RWD, while the upper specs get you a dual-motor rear-biased AWD setup. Is this EV9 a better option than a Tesla Model X or a Rivian R1S? Is it worth jumping to over a gas-powered Telluride? With the success of the Telluride and the EV6, expectations are high. Let's take a look.

Beware of any higher trims with the rear air suspension. May be comfortable but if you run over any bumps while the road is turning left or right, it has a nasty wobble that feels like it’s about to fishtail out and lose control. I found out very quickly after purchasing a GT Line

This was such a smart move by Hyundai/Kia. It's a shame they don't have the panache of the luxury brands down in Westport, because these guys are doing it better from a value perspective than Mercedes

Yeah, I think they did everything right here. If you're 100% in on EVs and you need a third row, but you don't need the luxury, this absolutely should be on the list. It's just so tough to swallow if you're on the fence about EVs, which is so many people right now. Walking into a Kia dealer and seeing this next to a Telluride for $20k more, I couldn't do it. And I think the margins probably aren't huge either, they're hands are just a bit tied with the cost of new tech. A lease or lightly used though. That could be a solid move here.
