I would consider the Soul but worry about the reported oil consumption issues. Has Kia addressed this with the 2024 model?

As you have discovered, these are both a very good car and a very good value. Has undergone lots of efforts at product tefinement. Fit and finish is way above average. Save some cash and go for the second from bottom trim line..it has a beam rear suspension but still rides and handles well. No sunroof! 2.0 engine is competitive and fairly smooth and quiet. CVT is a Hyundai-Kia design and manufacture. This car is an excellent alternative. I agree with other comment that dealer network is still needing some improvement. This is a minimalists joy and not a penalty box. As always, a good review. Happy New Year! (I have seen these in service for 100,000 plus miles and little in service issues and they still look and drive very well!') Do careful servicing!

That was my rental car but the 2023 for a week while I was waiting for my Kia Rio 2023LX to come from the factory from South Korea.

The product appears ok, but the dealerships reputation for honorable warranty upholding, has been horrible. All the engine issues, and oil consumption makes you feel, you'll be skating on Thin ice. And kia/ Hyundai CVT's are not the most favored transmissions. But, when a particular one is good, it can be very good, but, same can be said when a vehicle is problematic, it can be a nightmare! I like the Soul's looks and roomy interiors, hate the reputation for failures.
