We kick off the new year with our first trip in the Campervan to Wyke Lodges and Caravan Park which is near to Guisborough in North Yorkshire.
With lovely views across to the North Yorkshire Moors and Roseberry Topping.
While we’re there, we visit the Cross Keys Inn and also take a walk to Pinchinthorpe visitor centre and cafe across the fields then along the old railway line.

Gorgeous views. I do wonder why they don’t do the whole drive as tarmac on some sites (Looked so muddy and easy to get stuck). Love the hat! Lodges looked nice. Lovely walk, if a bit muddy. Do love that name Rosebury Topping. Must get there! That cafe was a very long way! You did well to resist the cakes. Carvings were beautiful 🥰. Those high Viz Jackets could soon be all the rage! Food looked good. Beautiful part of the world by the looks of it. Roxy enjoyed herself too. The boards were handy! 😊👍

Hi David and Rachel hope you are well and Roxy too looks like you had a really great weekend mud aside! Ironically we drove past that pub in October when we were up at my brothers on the way to ormesby hall and thought it looked nice we will definitely try it now and the site looked great and you are right what stunning views and scenery it will give anywhere in the uk a run for its money! Agree about the pitches not sure why camp sites don’t carry on the pitch to the road to avoid this issue All the best to you all and hope 2024 is being kind to you Daniel

We didn’t have access to the metal ramps or high vis vests, as that road in the dark is hard to see as site didn’t have much lights neither. We used our torch a lot. And yeah we struggled with the mud with the car. Had to park it over by the toilets. We were there for four nights so in and out of site. But location is amazing. That walk along the old railway track is amazing.

Looked some good walks there and the food at the Cross Keys looked lovely, how big was Rachels pie😂 it dwarfed the chips and veg. I can't understand why a new site would think surrounding H/S pitches is a good idea rather than leaving 1 end open. Not long to Keswick now. Cheers K.

Hi Phil, We had driven past the pub many times, the campsite is fairly new. We hadn’t been in the pub before so was first time. I got the habitation service done by TCM service Centre near Durham who came to me who I would recommend. For the vehicle, I took out a service plan with SG Petch in Darlington so took it there - not sure I would recommend them though - back in this week to get the Glow Plugs replaced. Yes I think it would be grand in the summer and that walk was lovely and if it didn’t get dark so early would have been lovely to explore Guisborough Forest. It was a lucky break from the rain last weekend, even then there was still showers and overnight rain. I got the hat from a local company they had a special offer on so thought I would treat myself. Hi David & Rachel, really enjoying your videos. We are due to be getting our first camper van in April/May and I’m trying to get my head around all the ancillary items we need. I’m just wondering if you take a small toolkit with you on your trips and what tools do you consider essential? Pete
@LeisureBit
@LeisureBit 6 ай бұрын
Hi Pete,how exciting for your first campervan - I’m sure the time will come around quickly. I carry a small.toolkit which I have some screwdrivers, an electrical test meter, pliers, adjustable wrench and various cable ties and duck tape and that sort of thing. I also carry a tow rope but keep that separate. Typically the tool you normally need you don’t have but I’ve find most things you can improvise with. I also carry cable cutters and insulation tape. I think that’s most things unless I’ve forgotten something. All the best, David 👍

Hi Pete. The tow rope is defo worth mentioning. I've lost count of the number of times I've towed someone / been towed off a boggy grass pitch. Also, I would recommend getting some grip mats if you're going to go on a lot of grass pitches. All the best, Tommo
