There's something special about riding a motorcycle like the 2024 Kramer GP2 890RR. Kramer only makes purpose-built track bikes and the 890RR is its best creation yet. With an upgraded 890cc parallel-Twin punching out 138 horsepower, sleeker, more aerodynamic bodywork, and a Mectronik ECU with six-axis IMU giving the full array of rider aids, the GP2 890RR is a serious track weapon. Motorcycle.com's Road Test Editor Troy Siahaan gives you his take on Kramer's latest creation.

Absolutely cannot wait to receive mine. I race the 2022 KTM RC8C and this 890RR is just enough improvement to make it worth the upgrade. For folks wondering about club racing with this platform, typically you can race in the C+ (600+) superbike classes (not stock classes) additionally heavyweight twins and F1 class.

4 weaknesses IMO. 1. Gearbox is not geared for track - main issue is the gear difference between 5th and 6th but 1-6 can be greatly improved. I don't know why they didn't do this from factory. 2. front brakes overheat - thicker discs and/or go up to 300mm (or bigger) would help. I don't know why they didn't do this from factory. 3. suspension - has good potential but hard to setup if you are not a WP expert...and finding a WP road race expert/good shop to set it up is almost impossible. I'm looking at replacing front with K-Tech cartridge kit and rear with a custom made shock. I understand why they use the WP as they are partner with KTM who owns WP but still makes life hard. 4. engine - a bit on the fragile side for a track bike. service intervals (5000km) is low even for a track bike (usually 6k) unless you are a high level pro with budget to match. My single R bike had significant scarring, bearings were almost completely shot and other internals showed excessive wear at under 4000 km. All the lightened internals should help but I would need feedback on a RR bike with 5000km rebuild to be "convinced". I wish they would make it from a V2 engine instead of an L2 Still an awesome bike though and worth the money!

138 horsepower is cool, the point is the (lack of) weight, 313lbs/142kg. Plenty of club racing classes, also for sure you can race this in WERA and AHRMA.

Now that's impressive... but at $39K and it's UNINSURABLE .. so if it goes tumbling ass over teacups down the tarmac .. Oh well . Make something akin to this, super lightweight but road going too.. w/ quick release turn indicators, lights, etc.. a LOT OF CASH ..

I’ve owned a 22 GP2 and have hours of track time riding my 23’ RC with a 22 RC8C, GP2, and lots of moto A spec 600’s (whom I can use a as a consistent gauges). The 23’ RC engine now matches the crazy capable chassis. Noticeable more acceleration than any of the above bikes. While I loved my 22 GP2, the engine always felt a little lackluster to me. Let me say this, If a 23 RC or 24 GP2 feels “damn slow” on the majority of tracks in the US and is not competitive, the rider is the problem not the bike.

Hi, fair questions. I race a 2022 KTM RC8C in CMRA (Texas/southern region), the RC8C is the previous Kramer GP2R. It's a race bike, you use it for trackdays and/or competition. For my series, we can race it in 4 classes against 750s, 1000ccs, and other twins. In Europe, they do have a single make championship for the Kramer as well. Even if you're not racing, these bikes are an absolute joy to ride. You can't not have fun with 138hp at 314lbs wet on a race track. 😁😁😁

40 grand?? Okay look I can appreciate what they've done that bike seems like a track weapon no pun intended but.. The Ducati V4R is also quite a track weapon and there's not a lot you have to do to that bike to show up and be competitive in your writing club or whatever and street legal. Sure sure the Ducati V4R is going to have quite a bit of maintenance and as we all know Ducati maintenance isn't cheap but if they're getting $140 horsepower out of a purpose-built parallel twin I'm sure that thing is very very toleranced and high-strung and probably needs quite a bit of maintenance itself that I'm guessing won't be cheap either

this is 100 lbs lighter and only 10 hp down. . . . if they are even on acceleration (since 10 lbs = 1 hp), you are still 100 lbs overweight so its like loosing a passenger on the kramer. but on top of that this is a twin so it probably has more torque and midrange than the GSXR making it easier to ride. It would need to be someone who knows what he is domg on the GSXR against someone who doesn't know what they are doing on the Kramer. But put that same guy on the kramer and it would be no contest.

Doubt any track day riders will be racing this or even see one of these on a track day. $34K is beyond the realm of what most of us can afford especially since its only for the track. Can buy a V4S for that amount of money. This is a rich person’s toy.
@vtranmoto
@vtranmoto 11 ай бұрын
I race this, it is a great heavyweight twins bike and also quite competitive in supersport 750cc+ classes. V4S is not great for track because the electronic suspension is disruptive; any serious track rider or racer will go for a base V4 with upgraded suspension or a V4R (which also does away with electronic suspension for mechanical suspension).
@DemetriosMallous90
@DemetriosMallous90 11 ай бұрын
@@vtranmoto Didn't know the V4S has all that gimmicky electronic suspension. A bike more inline with the GP2 I guess would be the V2 with upgrades but even then in a heavyweight category the GP2 is going up against V2's and GSXR 750's. The GP2 does have the weight advantage though. Not knocking the GP2 at all but I'd rather make due with a cheaper bike and some upgrades. I'd hate to have to deal with parts if I crash a $34k bike. Having a more common bike does help quite a bit for parts sourcing.
@vtranmoto
@vtranmoto 11 ай бұрын
@@DemetriosMallous90 my friend owns Josh Herrin's HSBK V2 MotoAmerica championship bike and prefers his RC8C/GP2 over the fully built V2. A built HSBK V2 is going to cost $60,000+ and comparing a stock V2 vs a GP2 is pointless, since you're going to end up buying exhaust, bodywork, parts, etc...that'll easily climb to $30k or more and the price difference becomes negligible. From a parts perspective, I raced mine for almost 2 full seasons and parts have not been an issue (I've also crashed mine). Just sharing my experience, I've had a lot of track bikes and race bikes and the Kramer is remarkably easy to live with. Hope more folks take the plunge and give it a go!
