If you want versatility without an astronomical price, you were probably considering a tiny crossover. Here are four of the best selling models in the US, let’s put them head-to-head and see which one comes out on top! Honorable mentions include the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, Kia Seltos, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and probably a few I can't think of.

When I was shopping around in 2022 & purchased my latest new vehicle to replace a problematic 2020 Toyota I wasn't happy with, the CX-30 was easily the best compact-sized crossover (IMO) in its price segment for people who still like/prefer smaller vehicles in this sad US market of no true subcompacts, limited true compact offering & mostly just large vehicles. I've been happy with my 2022 CX-30 CE for about 28 months now. Not a single problem or defect to report. I would consider the Lexus LBX (a true subcompact crossover) if they ever brought it to the USA - but I predict that they won't.

We had a rental 2024 Crosstrek Premium, as the Wife's 2020 Outback was in the shop, and I daily a 18 Forester 6MT. Gotta say, that Crosstrek was quiet, massive view, quiet, plenty of gettyup, quiet, easy fit two car seats, quiet, surprising amount of trunk space, and quiet. I considering a used third car, and that Crosstrek is making a lot of sense.

@@wackit6756 I spent about $350 and 15 hours sound proofing my base model Subaru Forester (and I have a ten+ part series on my KZfaq channel showing how I did it), so I am acutely aware of how loud a Subaru CAN be, and I was impressed with how quiet it was. I would say a large part of it was the CVT. When the engine is banging at 1700 rpms at highway speed, you BARELY hear the barely idling engine noise. 🤓👍

@@jakeywakey4424 Between the aerodynamic external shape, insulated boxer engine, and low-revving CVT, it's a quiet ride. And with AWD all the time, it still gets mid-30s for fuel efficiency? It's an easy recommendation from me, the random guy on the internet. 🤓👍

I'm a Toyota loyalist currently driving a Subaru. Toyota doesn't have that perfect vehicle for me right now. The 2001-2007 Highlander was the best thing ever. I still want one. The current Highlander is way too big, and the Rav4 is Just a few inches too small for the driver (me). The Crown Signia looks fantastic, but is over my budget. I ended up in a Subaru Outback, and honestly, if it holds up over time, i might be a Subaru convert. I really really like it. I like the styling of the Mazda a lot, i still have a soft spot for early 90s Hondas and therefore still keep an open mind for Honda... But right now, Subaru has my attention until further notice.

@@calebwany8422 But what is the advantage of going smaller? Better fuel economy? Nope, the Rogue is the largest passengers pace of the compact segment and gets 37mpg highway without even being a hybrid. The CX30 Turbo gets 30mpg, and the non-turbo 33mpg. Price? I priced out a CX-30 Sport in dark gray for $28,515. Priced out a '23 Rogue Sport for $29,400, but they have a $1K manufacturer rebate no-haggle so its $28,400, and its 225ftlbs of torque because its standard with a turbo the CX-30 doesn't come standard with turbo and so is only 186ftlbs. Length! Ah, now finally the CX-30 has a potential advantage, its 10" shorter so if you parallel park a lot (I literally never do) or have a garage that is extremely shallow (I don't), then that might make sense, because otherwise even if you drive by yourself you'll get more fuel economy and more space for folding down the seats for costco and home depot trips in the larger vehicle and it won't be any slower in spite of being bigger because it has more power.

@@mindfullymellow2323 It's just a matter of time and Mazda is suuuuper super slow. They're a little too focused on PHEVs. Dave Coleman explained that once the battery is depleted, the PHEV system acts as a regular hybrid. So they can just take their PHEV hybrid system and shrink the battery and make a regular hybrid. It would significantly reduce the cost too as the PHEV is like $10k more expensive then their gas counterparts.

I’ve had no issues with merging, pulling out onto a highway from a full stop, etc. I’m even used to the infotainment screen and now I kinda like it (except the lag, the lag is awful).
