Oh that’ll be an awesome video. I had a relook at your SLX DC XT vs Scorpion DC shoot out and the SLX DC XT casted 170+ feet on a 1/2oz plug. The aerodynamics on the plug are probably better but I’m guessing it’s gonna be a close fight?

Thanks for the video. The question if the spool starts same easy with wrist casts or backhand. For example I am using plastic rigs and need precise casts for 10-20m. Lure weight starts from about 10gr.

Nice test, thanks, now that i know its not too bad compared to regular I think im also going to get it and then spend whole day catching sea trout testing the metaniums to see which i like more, not just casting range but also the feel of them. I have also noticed that using a really good and slick braid increases performance more on some reels than others. I really like the daiwa evo+ series of braids i suggest you try it sometimes. I think if i got a 500$ reel why not spend 25$ extra to get max performance out of it.

Great video bruh! I’ve already replaced 3 of my ‘20 Metaniums with the new DC model, might as well replace the others. And they look better on the Nrx+ rods. I’m actually enjoying the new DC reels more than the ‘24 Steez SV TW I bought 😮

Got a question for you. I have 2 Shimano Met’s 2020 and use them for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. So i have 15 pound FC line on them. Wouldn’t the 70 be to small for this line? I would like to get these as well but i am not sure as i am not a Braid to leader user. Glad to see you like them so much. I will say they look incredible.

@@jasonallen3189 I’m still using my ‘20 Metanium for blades/chatterbaits & I run straight floro but 12lb. I actually threw a 1/4 zoom speed worm in a bfl last wkend & ran 15lb floro on my DC & had plenty line for it. 15lb floro would be the max I’d use for casting applications

@@livinglife3230 nice yeah i could get away with 15 for chatterbaits. I know i want to get at least 1-2 of the 24 DC’s. Just trying to think what i would use them for. Would be nice on smaller braid for top water and 10-12# line for square bills.

I'm using 2 currently, both with 30lb braid to a short leader....1 for spinnerbaits, 1 for top water. Plan to bring in 2 more...one on 12-14lb fluoro for crankbaits, and another on 40lb straight braid for buzzbaits - 613BASS'N 😎

Great video! You've got to have a Calcutta 100hg on the channel! I bet you it can out-cast the 20 Metanium. At least in my experience!

I just wanted to put my two cents in about the spool tension on the dc reels . The best way I’ve found to adjust it is to put the brakes on the highest settings, then fine tune the spool tension to where it can cast with no thumbing with no fluff. Then back down the brake knob to where you want to set it . This works great for me , I can bomb anything with no trouble.

Of course DC is better, because the reel is in new condition. 4 years difference. If both are in new conditions, it will be easier to find who is better.

No the DC reel wins because no matter how good you are at controlling a spool on a baitcaster you are not better than a computer chip. 😂😂😂

To me casting distance is great. But the reel test (pun intended) is how does it cast into the breeze. Can I cast a square bill further without backlash into a mild breeze

In one of your cast battles, the metanium MGL was crowned the 1/4oz plug champion. Is it safe to assume the DC has now taken that spot?

It's the same. The only dif between US n Japan is the 2020 MGL.

Interesting. Do you have any Curado MGL 150's to compare casting against? I have almost picked up the 150 Tranx but decided against it due to the heavier spool compared to the Curado version.

I agree the Tranx 150 is insane. I have it paired with a TFO 6’10 tactical inshore and it bombs a 1oz yo zuri hydro pencil as far as my 7’3 legend tournament inshore spinning rod

I hope Shimano comes out with a 100 size of this as i am not a braid to leader user. I would love to spool one of these DC’s to 16# FL for a chatter bait.

@@THEREELTEST i mean i suppose i don’t. I just normally used 15-16#. I fish in Texas and Tennessee and thats what most anglers are using. Some guys are even throwing 18-20# which i think is too much. I was thinking of getting some 24 DC’s and using them with smaller braid for top water just to try them.

The 2020 Metanium B has a 150 size spool. Edit- I had no clue the jdm version had a different size spool, my apologies

JDM is a 70 size and is less finicky than the USDM 150 size

Is it just me, or is the Metanium DC finicky? I'll make a cast and it just gets stuck mid cast every now and then. However, I don't have these issues with the regular Metanium. The regular metanium is just super reliable. Even if the DC is able to cast further, I'd rather take the regular Metanium for ease of use and reliability.

I was waiting for a new Metanium DC, but after none came out last year, I bit the bullet and got the Metanium 2016 DC. 😟 I still love my 2016, but this new one looks even better. I don't see myself dropping another $500 for it, though. I'm looking forward to your next video on the Metanium DC.
