I love Chris Simms. I usually never let the media or anyone sway my perception about anyone or anything without doing my own research first. But all I ever heard was listen to this take by Sims and everything I heard was negative and I stayed away from his material. A couple of months ago I saw him and someone else do a special about the WR's in this draft. I was blown away by Simm's football IQ. And I saw what the deal was. He goes against the narrative and that's why he gets all the hate. I love him looking at players through a different lens. He misses sometimes but everyone does. There isn't a GM out there that's ever been perfect. I absolutely love the way he analyzes players. I don't always agree but he certainly brings up some compelling points on why he thinks this or that player will be a stud, average, or a bust

Pittsburgh won't take Olu at OT with Mims still available. Arthur Smith offense is going to value the run too much, and the organization has said and signaled they want to move Broderick Jones to LT this season/long term. If this is the board, I'd hope they go Brian Thomas Jr.

this one is tough. i could see a trade down... but... i know harbaugh believes in the trenches. but think about it. u know harbaugh will be good and he wont draft at the top of the draft for the coming years. I think he will never get a Nabers ever at this spot of the draft in the future. But i think he can find some awesome olinemen in the mid late first round in the future drafts and this current one. If they stay put, id go Nabers. qb qb qb wr wr wr. Never happened before

@@dodu8281 Harbaugh has never drafted a "trench" player in the first 2 rounds in his NFL career. He can build and develop them later in the draft. He will go Nabers since that's not his area of expertise and need a plug and play WR1 for Herbert

Maye needs a redshirt year and has some flaws with mental toughness under pressure that I’m doubtful can be coached away and will limit his overall potential. I hope my favorite team doesn’t trade up for Maye.

Raiders already have AOC and Gard Dawg. Two different types of QBs focused on being more competitive. IMO, Raiders are focused on J Daniels or M Penix for QB. If they can't get either one, they may still trade up for a top offense (not QB) player. They want to spoil Denver's pick.

@@brandondillman5841 Not a chance the Chargers trade Herbert. Yes Harbaugh is talking JJ up but that pushes his ability to trade down (which I do believe he wants to do). Oh and the Chargers basically cannot trade Herbert because the cap hit would be undoable.

Chris, love your pod! Just a quick note that if either Odunze or Fuaga fall that far (especially Odunze), the Steelers will move up to take them! No way do they let either one fall that far and not pull the trigger. Fashanu does not fit Arthur Smith’s run heavy scheme and they want to move Jones back to left tackle. 💯 they’d move up if Odunze falls outside top 10 and zero chance they let Fuaga go one spot ahead of them! They would take Mimms b4 Fashanu because he’s a better fit.

I think Chris should've switched Amarius Mims who was a RT in college and move Broderick Jones to LT for the Steelers, and have the the Patriots draft fashanu who is as they said a natural LT

Just my opinion Odunze is the best receiver in this draft on making contested catches when well covered.

Even the best contested catch WRs in the NFL are only around 50% consistently. NFL CBs are longer and faster than in college and that athleticism combined with the NFL defensive schemes make separation more difficult. WR in college making a lot of contested catches can be a red flag. Do they have enough agility and quickness to run the whole route tree and create separation or are they a vertical guy with a limited tree that is only useful as a jump ball / red zone threat? Odunze lacks agility and lateral quickness. The best WRs in the NFL create separation in their routes and can still win the contested catches when necessary.

I think the upper body KOC was referring to was Michael Penix, though I thought that the change he made at his Pro Day was positive and he was accurate on his shorter throws that he struggled with before. KOC wants to draft Maye he thinks he can fix his mechanics.

A QB needy team passing on a QB at 3 just to pick one at 11 just seems so odd to me. Doesn't mean it won't happen, and every draft is different, just feels like you'd just take your highest graded QB at 3 and not gamble.

Patriots need a lot of help. If they have McCarthy, Maye, and Penix ranked similarly on their board, it makes sense to trade 3 for 11, 23, and a future pick. They draft a similar QB on their board at 11 and get another first round talent to address a weakness. It only makes no sense if they value one guy significantly more, like the Vikings do with McCarthy in this mock. In that case, they take their guy at 3.

I think Maye has similar value to Penix and more than Nix as a prospect. But it really depends on whether a team is okay drafting a guy that should redshirt. Also, the scheme and coach preference matter. All three guys have red flags but it wouldn’t surprise me if the order was shuffled. It also wouldn’t surprise me if someone looked at Maye and fooled themself into believing he is Josh Allen. I’ll be okay if the Vikings end up drafting Maye at 11 or a slight trade up but wouldn’t be thrilled if they traded up to 3, like in this mock, and chose him instead of McCarthy. I think that would end up being a costly mistake.

Drake Maye foot work is atrocious. I didn’t see Herbert being any good so I could be wrong. I’ve never seen a QB coming out of Carolina. Bo Nix I didn’t know was a 1st round grade. He’s been around and played a lot of football. He’s gritty and could be the best out of all of them

Maye to the Pats is a risk given that they’ve not got an offensive head coach. You don’t want another Mac situation where it starts out great, then the OC gets hired away to be a HC somewhere, and the young QB is left to learn a new offense again. With the Colts, Ballard saying they need to protect AR could still fit with Bowers, given his blocking capabilities and the way that TEs can be a safety valve for a QB

The proposed Patriots trad would be complete disaster if thy missed out on one of the top 4 QBs, and their choice of 3/4. the 24 1st would likely be in the teens or later, and the Patriots would likely end up around ten in 2024, so they never come out of th trade and the opportunity with an elite talent.

I don’t think Penix is any worse than Maye as a prospect. In fact, he might be better for the Patriots since he could start right away. So, I don’t believe it would be awful if they missed on Maye.

Lots of teams will take best available player regardless of if it is a 'need'. Also, what team isn't looking for a lockdown corner? And, if they stand at 22 hoping that a guy falls to them because of positional needs, they also have to assume no other team looking for a CB is going to trade in front of them.

maybe it’s just me but I’m a bit worried about Odunze separating from NFL db’s. He’ll be great a contestant catches, but those guys tend to fade quick ie dwayne bowe, dez bryant. I guess if he turns out to be either one of those guys he’ll be well worth a top 10 pick but it just seemed like the corner was always in his hip pocket in college and penix would put that thing on a dot. like right on his hands just like passing it to your center in basketball posting up while sealing off the defender.

I think the Steelers will trade their 2nd and one of their 3rd round picks for Arizona 27th pick. They really need a Tackle and Center. They'll pick a Tackle at 20 (Mims), Center at 27 (Barton). Then a WR third round.

Why would Vikings trade up to get jj when Drake manye is better…. I think it’s the opposite NE trade down for jj and a couple picks . I don’t think patriots is qb focused this year since they have a few options

Well, because McCarthy is a better NFL prospect. Maye will have to redshirt as he has mechanical issues leading to errant throws. His athleticism isn’t good enough to run in the NFL so he will have to adapt his game. He choked under pressure in college with 4.8 yards per attempt and 48% completion rate. This is a huge red flag. I think you can scheme around an anxious QB but never overcome it completely and it caps his potential. I think at best, Maye can become a good but not great QB that will be limited by how good the talent around him is. A 10-20 ranked QB in the NFL at best. McCarthy has a cannon and can fit it into tight windows at every level. His athleticism is excellent with an elite 3 cone. He excels in pressure situations with essentially no drop in YPA and a 63% completion rate. He showed up consistently in big spots (3rd and long) and in big games. He seems to have that rare IT factor that seems to be an integral part of every elite NFL QB ever. Just a better NFL prospect with a higher floor and a higher ceiling.

Unless Cowboys go O line in the 1st they have to go O line in 2nd I wouldn’t like it but if someone fell that was worth it I’d want fresh legs at RB. They can get a damn good receiver like the McConkey in the 3rd maybe. He’s a day one starter for me. They need something besides Lamb. #9 the returner needs to be used more but not in situations where’s he’s only doing trick plays. Turpin I’m talking about. And don’t sleep on Tolbert. Dak makes average receivers look great. There’s no doubt Tolbert can be effective along with Brooks and if they can they McConky

The Steelers aren't going to draft a guy that is strictly a left tackle..... They want to move Jones to his natural left tackle position. If they draft a tackle at 20 it is going to be a guy who can play either side, preferably with more experience on the right.

McCarthy is a 2nd/3rd rounder. And Penix is more of a 3rd/4th rounder. McCarthy will have some success due to the receivers they have and the head coach being the OC, but nowhere near warranting a 1st round selection.

Cowboys have safeties. I think Cowboys need another pass rusher. I think they messed up not moving Micah to Mike on early downs. Plus Micah rushes from the middle as good as he does from the outside. Zimmerman will figure that out the way he attacks A gaps with his LBs. Cowboys were so thin at LB they needed to move him around. Micah 5th year option was listed at D end at $21,000,000. LB was $23,000,000 so they saved $2 million. I just don’t understand how LBs price is more than DE. Unless 3-4 OLB drive up LB prices. I don’t know if they do the option the same as franchise tag. Cowboys have screwed this up unless they plan on letting Dak go & really like Trey Lance. I think it’s a huge mistake. Dak is still ascending. He’s 30. QBs peak at 35. They have 5 years left or more of high level play
