This show is BY FAR the best & most thorough NFL draft breakdown I have seen on KZfaq. About 90% of what you find is from guys who are simply casual fans with a mic in their hands, or at best, fans who know maybe 20% more than the average Joe Six-Pack guy on the couch. These guys are meticulously & painstakingly comprehensive not just overall but on individual players, & even with respect to individual game film. When you're listening to an analysis of an offensive tackle's in-game performance & it breaks down hurries & describes the actual placement of the lineman being between the QB & the edge rusher & how many times this occurred, you know you're hearing from someone who is on point & knows the game. Analytics aside...as someone who respects it but also knows it can be over-used...the knowledge factor here is leaps & bounds beyond anything else I've seen. I don't always agree with these guys but you can't dismiss anything they say without a good reason.

I know that grades arent everything in evaluation for you guys, but Fashanu graded out at 47 as a pass blocker with 6 pressures vs OSU. I've watched the tape. You don't come out of that "impressed" with him. I agree people are over analyzing this kid. He will be good. But struggling with an elite power rusher like Tuimoloau is a red flag entering the league. Regardless though, it doesn't explain why he's ahead of Alt, who looks just as good as a pass protector, has a much better anchor, and also has the ability to run block. And for the record, according to your own grading, Alt graded at 77 as a pass blocker vs OSU, with ONE pressure ceded. Lol. How is that comparable? If it IS comparable, then you have a problem with your grading.
@Tmindful182
@Tmindful182 Ай бұрын
Cosell didnt Love alts tape… weak attacks… too passive…. Poor hand usage…. Before you freak out he said hes a very good prospect. Not that this stuff cant be fixed… but is any of Fashanu’s unable to be fixed? These guys arent even rookies yet! It was also mentioned that penn had to drop back a ton in that game so Ohio was pinning their ears back… different games arent always apples to apples. For all I know alt is better just saying you’re making apple sauce with apples & oranges. Which is probably gross but might be good
@smyers9052
@smyers9052 Ай бұрын
@@Tmindful182 So, "different games aren't always apples to apples" is not the same as "comparing player performance in similar circumstances against similar competition is a fruitless endeavor (pun intended)". Certainly, game flow and other dynamics make an impact, but I can reasonably compare Alt's pass blocking snaps against Fashanu's against the same complex of OSU pass rushers and draw basic conclusions. That's not "making apple sauce with apples and oranges" it's taking the available information and making a reasonable comparison. Having played and been around football for the better part of 25 years, I feel confident in my ability to evaluate performance in that context. Furthermore, my comment points both to my own impressions of Alt's and Fashanu's relative performance, and to the inconsistency between PFF's grades for the two players and Monson's personal assessment. I am comfortable with both tracks, and believe what I wrote stands on its own. Also, I am not "freaking out", I am just providing my thoughts on this content -- which, to put a bow on this, never in any way asserted that Alt was guaranteed to be a better player or that Fashanu cannot improve -- just that Monson doesn't do a very good job of explaining his ranking here. What I said was decidedly more targeted and specific that your response, which goes well beyond anything I asserted.

Troy Fautanu is good but there is one thing that would prevent me from drafting him in round 1. He is already 23 years old and he will turn 24 shortly after the season starts. Mims, Latham, Alt, Fuaga are all 21 or 22 years old.

What do you guys think of Arkansas Center Beaux Limmer. At the end of the 2022 season PFF had a him as a top 50 player and this year I have t heard his name. Now he played Guard at Arkansas in 20, 21, and 22. He played Center last year. Now was he just not good at Center or what? Because he went from a Guard that you guys said was a top 50 player to just nothing.

Who was the tackle that everybody was praising after the Senior bowl? Was it Guyton? I remember there was a lot of praise for a guy that was considered a second or third round pick but he really looked great. There was also a lesser cornerback who everybody was praising after that but I can't remember who that was either?? I actually have a medical condition that screws up my memory but I have patches of things still hanging on but it's hard to sew it all together.

Although Mims is intriguing. The Bengals might go for him. Does anyone remember the last time the Bengals drafted an offensive tackle who had only played like 14 games in college? It was I. 1980 when the Bengals drafted 6’6’’ 280 lb Anthony Munoz the left tackle out of USC. Lol do you think that worked out for them? I’m not saying Mims is Anthony Munoz but I’m getting that kind of vibe from him. I think Mims is a dam special player. Way better than Latham. Although Latham is good too I’m just not Much on Bama tackles lately. Jonah Williams In 2019 was an average tackle and Evan Neal of the Giants looks like a bust so far. Both were top 11 picks.

I've said the same about Olu against OSU. Game wasn't that bad, sure he had a few bad reps to learn from but I still thought he played well. Best pass pro feel and natural mover in the class by far. And I've been saying the same shit about Alt against OSU, he had just as bad if not worse of a game against OSU (imo worse) and definetly less translateable to the NFL game with how he played although I am slightly more intrigued now with him as he played later in the cfb year. Mims and Fashanu are my 1 and 2 and it's close I'm not 100% sure yet. Alt is my tackle 4

@@BadBart2217 Agreed. I have learned to not like tall tackles in general but he is just different. He's like a prototype build but at almost 6'8". Isn't slow, moves in control, proportionally built head to toe with long ass arms big ass hands, lean great body composition and while he hasn't had tons of experience he kicks ass in a translatable fashion with good natural athletic movement for being a lineman no bad posture or anything. To me he's like the Anthony Richardson of tackle prospects and AR was my qb1 in last years class. The only thing giving me pause is the injuries and with Olu I think he is just a bona fide dude too even though he isn't quite the 1 of 1 dude but he has less questions. Purely on film Mims is my tackle 1 by a little margin though its just Olu I think is like Stroud compared to Mims being Richardson. We'll see how they are in the long run

Also PFF the company you guys worked for after The 2022 year you guys had Arkansas Center Beaux Limmer in your top 50 players in college football. He played guard left guard in think in 20, 21, 22 and played Center all last year. Was b he just bad at center or something? I just do t understand how you could have a guy as a top 50 player one year and the next year it’s like yall forgot he even exists.

Athleticism for an offensive tackle is overrated if you are Latham size or bigger. Case in point Orlando Brown Jr. Probably had the worst combine performance of any tackle maybe ever. His Pro Day he improved a lot of his numbers but they were still pretty bad. But he is so god dam big that his size makes up for whatever athleticism he is lacking. Same deal with Trent Brown he is 6’9’’ 360. Orlando is 6’8’’ 345. The Bengals need one of these tackles. Fuaga is my first choice because he played RT. Olu Fashanu is great too but he played left tackle. Some guys can switch sides easily and other guys just can not do it. What I hope the Bengals do is draft a DT either Murphy or Newton in round one at 18 and then take an Offensive tackle in the 2nd which is 49. They don’t need to offensive tackle to start this year We need at least 2 DTs out Of this draft and OT is the second big need and we also need a TE if the future.

Phil Loadholt is a bad comp for Fuaga. He's 2 inches shorter, 20 pounds lighter, and moves SIGNIFICANTLY better than Loadholt did in space and as a pass protector. Totally different builds. Dawand Jones is the wrong build and the wrong play style, because he's a terrible run blocker with no drive power. Latham also very different than either guy in that he's incredibly powerful as a run blocking player, and he has issues in pass pro that Jones doesn't have with the inside counter while also having a much better anchor. Usually you guys impress me with these, but I think these are lazier than normal -- Hey, here's a big guy and he's like this other big guy...
