As a Silayev's hometown guy, im pretty sure that he is so talanted and consistent on his games. With icecold decisions and with great skating. Hope that one of NHL teams will pick him and make him better. Great video btw, with all the best from Nizhniy Novgorod

I think Zeev Buium is going to be a sleeper in this draft and may be one of the best nhl players out of this entire draft

Hearing a lot of size concerns about Catton. Just for some context, Joe Sakic was 5'10" and 160lbs when he was drafted. Not saying Catton will be the reincarnation of Joe, but the size concerns seems quite over-stated. I think he'll end up a top player 3 from this draft and will have teams regretting passing him over (much like Benson last year).

Agreed. I’m a huge Catton fan. He’s been the best player on the ice every single time I’ve watched him (besides the U18s last year, but he was young and in a supporting role). He’s too smart, too slick and too skilled not to carve out an excellent NHL career

I agree with Daniel about Catton being deceptive. He does that thing that Marner does where he leads the defender to believe he's turning one way than at the last second turns the other way and beats him.

Emery and Danford in the first round is crazy to me. Way too low upside to be there imo.

Patrick Kane on draft day = 5'9" 162 lbs Kane draft year = 62g-83a-145 points in 58 games. I'm not sure what you are trying to prove. That Catton should be a high pick? Kane was clearly a special player regardless of being a small winger. He clearly should have been the #1 pick in his draft. Is Catton that special?

Him and a friend built a swastika from Lego cubes and he posted the picture to snapchat and he was accused of using a racial slur against a player and suspended but the suspension was ultimately lifted when it was deemed it could not be determined whether it was said. Connelly denied ever using the slur.

I must be picking all of the wrong Greentree games. Granted I've only done 3 or 4 close viewings but I see a lot of gliding around and 1-2 noticeable shifts. Looking at his box scores, there are definitely some impressive numbers but I worry a lot about compete and consistency

He's a low pace prospect for sure and the skating is an issue. I also agree that he's not consistently playing at a high level. But, he's not in the best of teams and still scoring a lot and the flashes are amazing. His skill level and sense is comparable to some of the very top prospects in the draft. So we'd rather bet on him developing a better motor and more consistency than others adding these kinds of high-end playmaking skills.

He might be much higher on our next board. He's a player currently under review for us. The team is split on him.

I’ve seen 30 Brantford games, maybe 10 live and talked to some nhl scouts around the arena. They always seem to mention how underrated Vanacker is and they keep trying to get as many viewings as they can of him. I think he’s the type of player to keep rising in the draft, like an Iginla (not to that extent). I could honestly see him going in the first round, maybe a bit of an Easton Cowan surprise?

I’ve only seen 4 games this year but he was by far the best player on the ice for 3 of them. Impressive kid from my snapshot.

Still feel like this draft is a lot of people really stretching to project some guys that aren't there. Having to project this much in the Top 5, I just don't get it. Catton has dynamisms in his game but has a way better floor. I'm taking him over Levshunov, Lindstrom, Parekh. I don't view Helenius as safer? In fact I also think Catton is definitely a center.

Great discussion about prospects! What do you think about Veeti Väisänen? I´m surprised that you´re not ranking him as a Top 64 player. In most of the other rankings he´s a late first rounder or an early second rounder. Finnish goalies are greatly represented, but I´ve thought that Noa Vali and Petteri Rimpinen are better goalie prospects than Kim Saarinen and Veeti Louhivaara.

He's in that mix. Issue is that he projects mostly as an average size defensive D. We want to see a bit more special in his game.

Would not draft a Russian in the 1st round. They all have long KHL contracts.

Zayne Parekh defensive game is terrible. His compete in his defensive zone is terrible. Great hockey IQ, great vision and playmaking ability, NHL shot already. His edgework is really interesting but he doesnt have blasting speed. Taking the production out of the equation (mostly PP points) i don't see the hype to put him in a Top5. For me he's closer to 10-15 spot and needs a lot of work for his game to translate to the NHL as a 2nd pair and PP specialist.
