FYI...On the K&N filter, the hex is only there to remove the filter, not to torque it. If you use it to torque the filter you can crack the spot welds that hold the hex to the can and the filter could leak.

Of you tilt the bike to the brake lever side you can get a lot of oil out of the filter. I used to have a cage on mine so I just rested it on that for a few minutes to drain and it minimized the mess.

pull off the front sprocket cover and spray the oil off. kawi dumb for doing that with the filter lol

I like the location because it's not right over the headers like the gsxr but still slightly annoying

@@CBRBandit i much prefer it over the headers like every other brand has done for years. spray some brake cleaner on the headers after an oil change and good to go. these things you get oil all over the front sprocket area then you gotta pull off so much junk just to get to where all the oil is.. zuke on top.

i appreciate them making it so you don't have to remove any fairings, but my god that filter location soaks my garage every time.

Leaving the pan or something under makes less of a mess lol but still a little drip

@@CBRBandit I left the pan under the tin foil for the filter and it drips through the block and onto the ground haha. Need to put two pans next time.

When purchacing a new bike I wouldn't wait until 600 miles, you don't know what those chinese put in that shipping oil from a barel, most professional sale shops won't even sell you the bike without a presale prep which includes changeing the manufacturers shipping oil..... The first ride home I would imediatly change the oil, then again at 300 miles, then again at 600 miles, then every 800~1000 miles after that. Starting off with Valvaline 4T conventional motorcycle oil then moving on to a synthetic blend after 2 or 3 thousand miles. Most sportbikes will degrade oil within 800 and 1000 miles unless you always ride under 6k rpm....😮
